If you want something done right....do it yourself!…read more Paid Erickson Septic Service $1700 to put in a new lift station pump a little over a year ago. After the tech left, I plugged in my old pump to troubleshoot it. Turned out my pump wasn't even bad! It worked just fine! The only problem was the electrical connection in the sump hole. Fast forward to today. Circuit breaker tripped and wouldn't reset. I removed the lid and pumped the water out to find the plug was water logged and shorted out. The problem is, since it is below ground, they were supposed to put it in a waterproof box! I called Erickson to give them the chance to correct the inferior plug installation and they told me they didn't want the chance and pretty much tough luck. So, I paid $1700 for a pump I didn't need and a bad plug installation that failed. Way to go Erickson! I guess I will fix your mistake now.

The technician quoted me $700 for a new tank kit, valve and supply line. All of these parts are typically less than $50 and likely were not necessary. I called another plumber and the estimate was $145 which is about what it should be. Buyer beware if you hire The Rooter Works, they are robbing people who don't know what a certain repair should cost.

Once they saw the easy job a simple snaking of a tub drain, they rushed a quote in from of the lady of the house, talked her into thinking it was competitive (over $400 for a simple snaking that was 10 minutes!!!) and left without any call to me. Prior to this exercise, they called constantly.... Beware that they are horribly overpriced and opportunistic!

Chris showed up a little bit early, talked me through the details of my kit installation (needed some adjusting due to the awkward location of my tub), and got right to work.
