He always calls first to give adequate notice, so there'e no "Surprise!, I'm here!" and then you would have a major inconvenience. I found Zoom Drain from Yelp reviews. Earlier this year, we had roots get into our backyard drains that were causing major backup during the rains. Ian came out and worked so hard to grind out the roots using some amazing equipment and cameras, but he couldn't get all the way through. We talked about the possibility of having to take up the concrete since the drains were so impacted ...but that was a last resort. He suggested to go on a maintenance plan every six months by using root killer and grinding them out. It worked! Today, after working his magic, he saw very little roots and the water was flowing! We will stay on maintenance every year from now on as it will be an ongoing issue. Ian is professional, personable and an expert in his field. Zoom Drain is a specialty plumber that deals with sewers and drains. Shortly after moving in to our new home (and having JUST completed our remodel), we had a very tough situation with frequently clogging, corroded 50+ year old cast iron sewer lines. Multiple "generalist" plumbers told us they were too corroded to safely snake for much longer, and they were also too far gone to reline. Their only option was to cut into the foundation of our home and and replace them manually- which would have been a absolutely massive, damaging, and hugely expensive job. Sean and his team came to the rescue- he had the right tools and equipment to reline the sewer lines in-place. We had a few significant challenges thrown our way but Sean and his team patiently worked through them and we now have good-as-new sewer lines! (It seems that someone had attempted a partial reline many years ago which was so poorly done it actually CAUSED part of our blockage. Long story short, we wound up having to dig up this small portion of the line after all- but it still wound up being much less invasive than if we had to do the whole system) So, two things I learned: 1) When you're buying a home, get the sewer lines inspected so you know what you're getting into! 2) For challenging or complicated work like this, it is absolutely worth it to go with a specialist with the right experience and equipment to do the job. read more

Ian is so knowledgeable and saved me a lot of anguish and cost by offering an alternative to tearing up my concrete. I had noticed my yard not draining from these last severe downfalls in So Cal. Normally, would not have noticed that there could be a problem. He did an excellent job diagnosing and offering me a solution. I had another plumber come out and diagnose my yard. He told me that I needed to spend nearly 20k to rip out the concrete and put in new drains. I didn't want to spend that kind of money, plus I didn't want my entire yard ripped out. His solution was to pressure the drains out, remove the roots that had overtaken the yard and to put root killer in the drains. I used Zoom for the first time yesterday to unclog some underground landscape drainage pipes that have been clogged for many years, causing huge puddles every time it rained. Ed was the person who came to do the job. Ed was friendly and communicative, and was very thorough in showing me the different hoses and fittings he would be using to clean out the drains as well as how he would be using them. I had a Saturday clogged kitchen sink that after trying the Drano method, snake it myself still could not clear the drain. I called a plumbing company I searched on the internet with good reviews and they gave me the number for Zoom Drain. Called then and got a call back in just a few minutes. They happened to have a technician just finishing up a job near me and within 30 minutes of my call Roger was at my front door to give an assessment of my problem. He said that most likely he would be able to clear it out with a snake and if not then a hydro-jet clearing would be needed, gave me the estimate for each job and then proceeded to start to work. After trying to clear with a bigger diameter snake he then gave it a try with a smaller diameter one and that worked!! He was working for over an hour and did solve the problem. He was very clean and made sure that the job area was spotless before he left, using a drop cloth to keep the area under the sink and the floor by the sink cabinets very clean. He did about a 10 min running water check to make sure the drain was free and clear. An excellent job all around. The price of for a weekend service call was very reasonable. read more
