My fiancé and I loved our visit to zoo Miami! The park is huge!! They said it's about 5 miles to walk the entire zoo. At the end of our day we had roughy 13,000 steps. They do have these cycle things you can rent, but I feel walking just better. We agreed that it felt more like the animals being in a natural habitat vs being at a zoo. A lot of the exhibits are spread apart, so they aren't on top of each other with this set up. We found this to be wonderful compared to other zoos we've been to. Every staff member we interacted with was very friendly and knowledgeable about the animals. While on your 5 mile walk there is plenty of shaded areas if you need a break and there's also misting stations to cool off. My fiancé and I also fed the giraffes! It was a great experience. For a bowl of lettuce it's only $12. We loved this experience! Feeding a giraffe definitely wasn't on my 2026 bingo card. I definitely recommend this zoo to everyone! Definitely plan for a full day here and have good walking shoes

We absolutely love the zoo and recommend the annual pass if you live nearby or have children. Its a beautiful place to walk/run, admire gardens or see the animals. Children have three different areas for splashing depending how far into the zoo you want to go (entrance/everglades, oasis/middle, and the Amazon courtyard/furthest). In terms of food: theres only ONE place that sells coffee and it's at the entrance. Unfortunately, i cant recommend it as ive had it twice and its been terrible both times. The server just didnt know how to make good coffee and everything was watered down. As for meals there are two large areas to eat with a variety of foods like pizzas/flatbreads, salads and sandwiches at the Nourish 305, or the Oasis which has burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, etc. Oasis is my favorite as their pulled pork sandwich is delicious, it includes fries, and the portions are decent for less than $10. There are other kiosks around selling ice cream and nibbles. Pro tip: Don't be discouraged if it's sprinkling with a little rain as the animals are usually the most active during this time! My biggest recommendations are these: another coffee kiosk further into the zoo, that members can go in an hour earlier before doors open (like Disney) as sometimes you just want to go for a quick stroll, and that the area around the beautiful wings of asia gets pressure cleaned and tidied.

There's too many encounters closed due to renovation. You barely see the animals. I can't wait for the renovations to be finished. I'm happy I can still see my favorite animal which is the elephant.

I haven't been to Zoo Miami since I was a little kid. Somehow, it felt like it had just been a short time. We have summer passes that get us access to Zoo Miami, Lion Country Safari, and the science museum at Dreher Park. So we took a ride down to enjoy Miami's offerings. It was well worth the ride down. I forgot how big of a zoo it is! They have a great assortment of animals from panthers to zebras to tapirs. It felt like you could get super close to many of the animals too. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes because it's a lot of walking. For the size of the zoo, the didn't have as many food offerings as I would've liked. However, Nourish 305 (right at the entrance) was really good! We got a couple kids pizzas and the 305 Club sandwich. Both surprisingly tasty. Unfortunately, it's incredibly hard to find your way around. The posted maps aren't super helpful, and the official app is worse. The app map doesn't even use GPS to show your location. Bring refillable water bottles, because it's a lot of walking and naturally in Miami it's pretty hot. There are lots of water stations around to keep you hydrated. August is a hot time and lots of folks didn't brave the heat, so the park was pleasantly quiet. If you can handle the sun, it's a good time to visit. I'm looking forward to going back.

My family and I had such a great time at the 5k zoo run. Zoo run includes an entrance to the zoo and they had a beer garden. I have been to the zoo before on other occasions and aside from watching all the animals the parking is free. I have visited other parks that you have to pay for parking. I highly recommend visiting this zoo.

My family and I really had a great time. We took our daughter this past Friday while visiting in town and it was such a blast. We got to feet a giraffe for 5$ I was expecting some insane price but nooo , and they have someone up there to take your photos with your phone!!! Truly loved the whole experience saw so many beautiful animals and they have so many ways to get around since the zoo is so huge. I would def go back!

UPDATE on June 16th: I really appreciated the thoughtful response from the zoo. It gave me a new perspective and helped me understand just how much goes on behind the scenes, from animal care to habitat maintenance and even transfers between zoos. I hadn't thought about all of that during my visit, and the explanation made me respect the zoo so much more. While it was still a bit disappointing to come across empty enclosures, knowing why made a big difference. Because of that, I've changed my review from 3 to 5 stars. That kind of transparency and care deserves recognition!! If I could offer one suggestion, it would be to find a way to make some of this information more visible to guests during their visit. I don't remember seeing anything that explained why certain enclosures might be empty or under maintenance, and having even a few signs or posted explanations could really change how people perceive the experience. I know it would have changed mine in the moment, just like this comment did after the fact. That said... I'd love the chance to come back and give it another go with fresh eyes (and maybe catch a few of the animals I missed). If there's ever a way to revisit or experience more of what Zoo Miami has to offer, I'd be all in! INITIAL REVIEW (pre-response) : I went to this zoo with a friend not long after I moved to Miami. Overall, it was not bad at all. We had some really great moments, especially with the giraffes, elephants, leopards, and lions. Those were definitely the highlights. The zoo is pretty big, so I definitely recommend wearing good walking shoes and giving yourself enough time to stroll and take it easy. There is a lot to see! That said, when we visited, quite a few sections were closed off or just didn't have any animals in them. That was honestly pretty disappointing. When you pay for a zoo ticket, you kind of expect most of the areas to be active and full of life. Not just empty enclosures. I totally get that maintenance and animal care are priorities, and that things need to rotate or get fixed up, but there were enough empty spots that it took away from the experience. That is the main reason I'm giving three stars instead of more. One of the coolest parts of the zoo is that you can walk up and feed the giraffes, which I loved. But the line for that was loooooong. My friend and I decided it was not worth the wait, so we skipped it, but we stood there for a while just watching the giraffes run around and play. There were a bunch of them and it was amazing to see them move so freely!! That was probably my favorite part of the whole visit. If you are in Miami and looking for a day outdoors with animals and some fun, this is still a solid option. Just go in with managed expectations and know that you might not see everything you hoped for.

As someone who comes from San Diego, where our zoo's are world famous, Miami Zoo has truly impressed me for several of reasons: The ticket pricing is extremely affordable. They offer many discounted rates. For two adult tickets with our military discount it came out to only $35. Normally one adult ticket is $25 which I think is still very affordable. The zoo itself is very clean and not too crowded. The zoo is huge. It is separated essentially into two sections. Asia and Africa. Both sections take a good hour to complete. We got to the zoo around 11 and finished around 1:30PM. You will definitely get your moneys worth. They have a great array of animals. There were so many animals to see and all the enclosures felt a safe distance away from guests. The signs were easy to understand and showed very valuable information about each animal. In summary, If you're looking for something to do in Miami this zoo is definitely nice. It isn't dingy by any means and will make a great half day activity for anyone. I wasn't prepared for the amount of walking we did even though everything was relatively flat. They offered multiple ways to see the zoo such as a tandem bicycle and motorized cute animal rental scooter. My calves are still burning the next day but was also great exercise. I would recommend getting a rental for sure if you're older or have a family because your legs will get tired!

Put On Your Walking Shoes, we are going to the ZOO!! The Miami Zoo is over a 3 Mile Trail that goes around and through the Entire Zoo. If Walking is not on your Path then Rent a Safari Cycle. Parking is Free and Easy to Navigate. They have a Farmers Market on the First and Third Saturday & Sunday of Each Month. Some Local Vendors mainly selling Goods and Treats more so than Produce. Admission was a Breeze as you can Pay when you get there or can Buy Tickets Online. We decided to Purchase Tickets there about 45 mins after Opening and waited less than 10 mins. Even when we left 2 hours later the Line to Buy Tickets was Short. Once Inside you are Free to Explore! The Map is Large with lots of Space In-between the Animals. Our Favorite was the Wings of Asia! Super Cool Enclosure with Tons of Exotic Birds! The Rhino and the Pygmy Hippo was also very Intriguing to see! Other than that the other Areas seemed more Desolate and Scarce. Throughout the Zoo you will see Small Vendor Options to Buy Drinks/Snacks, you can also Feed some of the Animals (they have Feeding Times), and if you did not Rent a Safari Cycle keep an Eye Out; the Road is Open for All which can get Dangerous if not paying attention. Restrooms are Accessible throughout the Zoo approximately 12. Overall, our Time at the Zoo was something different to do but we left a bit Disappointed due to other Zoo Adventures we have been on. Zoo Miami is a great spot for a family fun activity in Miami, near Kendall. I came here recently for the annual Zoo Miami 5k and it is one of my all-time favorite runs. If you do the 5k or 10k, you get admission to the zoo afterwards, so naturally, we made a day of it. The 5k itself is so fun because you get to run in the zoo and see some of the animals that are awake before the zoo opens. This zoo is pretty big! I loved how many different animals, encounters, and activities they have here. My all-time fav is feeding the giraffes! Walking around this zoo is an activity already but if you want a faster way to get around, they have cycles available (4 and 6 seaters, I believe) and even motorized animals. you can ride around in. They're a bit pricey but looked so worth it when we saw people going around the zoo with them. They have a lot going on and the layout is really nice. There's a lake area with some swan and duck pedal boats and another area where you can eat and a splash pad for kids and even a little water park! This zoo is too cool and my partner and I actually won a dual membership from the last local pickleball tournament with DETA pickleball club that we played in so we're excited to come back all year long to explore more parts of this zoo!

Zoo Miami is one of my favorite places in South Florida. It's huge, beautifully designed, and full of amazing exhibits that feel like you're stepping into different parts of the world. I spent hours exploring and still felt like there was more to see. The animals all have large, natural-looking habitats, and everything was clean and well maintained. Each section is themed -- Africa, Asia, Amazon & Beyond, Australia -- and you can go from watching giraffes and elephants to spotting jaguars and sloths in the same day. I especially loved the Australia area with its koalas and cassowaries. It's also a great spot for families. There's a children's zoo with interactive exhibits, shaded paths, and plenty of spots to take a break. Even on a warm day, there's enough shade and indoor areas to stay comfortable. What impressed me most was how well organized and peaceful the whole place felt. It's easy to spend the entire day here and never feel rushed. For me, this is hands-down one of the best attractions in Miami, and a must-visit if you love animals and the outdoors.

I recently took a field trip with 35 students from my nonprofit organization to Zoo Miami. The setup and communication leading up to the trip with the staff were excellent. They were very friendly and proactive, even when I wasnt. However, the day we visited was extremely hot, and unfortunately, the animals were mostly inactive, either resting under trees or hiding in their caves. This made the experience feel more like a nature trail than a visit to the zoo. I understand that the weather impacts animal behavior, but it was quite underwhelming for the students. I will say however, the hyena and the African painted dogs gave us the most action. In addition, I felt that the zoo could use more vibrant elements to enhance the experience. It seemed quite dull and could benefit from more signs, especially themed ones like street signs, to add some color and excitement. When we arrived at the Africa section, It would have been nice to hear some African music or see other cultural aspects to enrich the atmosphere. Adding these touches could make the zoo feel more engaging for visitors. On a positive note, they did have bicycle carts available for rent which made it easier for people to get around. I didn't mind walking though, I wanted to get my steps in. Lol! They also, had misting machines throughout the zoo, which many people took advantage of. We had lunch at Oasis Grill within the zoo. The burger I had was yummy, and the fountain Diet Coke was not flat at all. Although the fries were a bit too salty for my taste, the outdoor seating area was nice. I appreciated that the zoo provided a refund for the giraffe feeding tickets, as the animals weren't feeling up for it that day, which I understand. Overall, while the staff was excellent, I found the experience underwhelming, especially given the summer heat. I think the zoo might be better visited during the cooler months, and it might be helpful for them to consider adding another tram for larger groups during peak times. Also, adding more vibrant elements would enhance the overall experience.

We had a very fun day out at the zoo. There was so much to do in. Our toddler was very impressed. The zoo is absolutely humongous, very quickly we regretted not renting a bicycle in the hot Florida heat however, thankfully there were misters throughout which you could use to cool down. Towards the end of our journey at the zoo, we were going to take our child to the splash pad however, upon arrival, it was so dirty we decided not to. We did not try any of the food at the zoo because it didn't look very appetizing. It would be nice if they had some sitdown restaurants within the park instead of only premade food.

Is the Zoo a safe area in light of the protesting?

    Yes it's very safe!!

Do they sell beer there? Or any other kind of alcohol?

Hi Carolina, Yes, we sell beer at Oasis Grill, Ellie's Cafe, and Nourish 305. At Nourish 305 and Ellie's Cafe, we also have a selection of wine and hard liquor to choose from.

Can I leave the zoo and re-enter later the same day?

Yes, you can leave and return to the zoo on the same day before 4 p.m. Please keep your admission ticket with the date and ask a team member at the front turnstiles if you need a stamp.

    Can we bring stoller in?

Yes, we brought our City Mini GT2. I saw strollers of all sizes.

How much are the Bikes to rent? Also the giraffes to feed are they a separate price?

The small bike is $26.00 plus tax and will hold 2 adults and two little ones on the front. The larger is $36.00 plus tax and will hold up to six I believe. Prices are for a two hour rental and its half that cost for each extra hour. We love the… Read more

This is a staple of theirs as I remember doing that as a child when it was called Parrot Jungle. However, the place seems to be falling apart and it was evident with red decorations falling off at the entrance. This is something that can easily be fixed. The children's play area is nice and pretty big. The treehouse, trampoline and the Beyhive were unique. The treehouse playground though needs a little bit more of an upkeep as part of the ground is lifting and things are falling apart. Seeing the animals was great. I fed a goat and enjoyed doing that but again some of those animals enclosures need more of an upkeep. The animal show at 11:30 AM is a little outdated. I would recommend changing it to make it more entertaining. Overall, if you come, don't have much expectations. It's a nice thing to do after you have done everything else in Miami.

Just makes finally having visiting this venue so much more special with how incredible it is. Secondly, amazing is how big it feels despite its size and location (granted, I visited at night for a special event, so your mileage may vary) - though I admit, the exhibits seem too small for some of their fauna inhabitants. Third and finally, visiting it for said special event, Luminosa, was ABSOLUTELY wondrous. Made the visit absolutely worth it (even if my bus almost missed the stop). Plus, the staff is so kind and accommodating. We as a society need to invest and support spaces and places like this that not only offer incredible experiences, but also give back to all its visitors and urban spaces they inhabit - even if they're on a small, missable island (jajaja).

While I was here many of the animals had a fair amount of space and were definitely more taken care of than their original situation. For example, some of the monkeys were lab monkeys and other others were owned by civilians who thought they could take care of exotic animals when they clearly couldn't. I do wish the lions have more space for that many being in one enclosure, but it looks like all they did was lay down and sleep in the sun basking so they may just be happy like that The price is a little bit expensive for a general tour, but I don't think it's not worth it. We took the general wildlife experience and were able to have a tour and then also visit with a couple exotic species, including a couple of ball pythons, a really awesome spectacle owl, which was my favorite and some other reptiles. Overall, I think it was worth a visit, but I'm not sure I'd come back again since I feel like I saw everything unless it was for an encounter. The otter encounter seems the most interactive so I'd recommend that one. Our tour guide was Mikayla, and she was very honest and gave facts that she knew and nothing that she did. I do wish the different enclosures had labels on them to give us an idea of the names of the species and where they're originally located as the tour guide wasn't able to answer one of our questions about them but gave what she knew. I kind of like the idea that people aren't allowed to go roaming around the property on their own banging on enclosures and trying to stick their fingers through bars. I think it's just a really good safety precaution. You will be limited to about an hour worth of a visit overall I had a great time.

It was 50 for adults and 25 for kids. It includes a one hour tour of the whole zoo. It is phenomenal how close you can get to the animals, including the lions and tigers, monkeys, capybara, sloths, etc. It also includes a hands-on experience with five animals. We were able to hold an alligator, a snake, feed a lemur, and touch an owl. You can book (for an additional price) close encounters with specific animals, but it was super enjoyable without doing this. I only wish it would be longer! Our tour guide Kique was amazing, knowledgeable, and patient with us! I would love to return again.

Now with a family of my own, my children have been coming here for decades. Miami Seaquarium is located on beautiful Virginia Key and spans across 38 acres. The highlight of our visits have always been the Dolphin and Sea Lion shows. The Marine Life Encounters always very nice too. I do love learning about marine conservation and how we all can help the animals. Thru the years Miami Seaquarium added events to the calendar , like Summer Camp for the kids. I always wanted my kids to come here for Summer Camp, but we live in Broward so the distance was to great. However we looked forward to Bunny Palooza at Easter Time each year along with other special events throughout the year. While I understand the Miami Seaquarium has faced financial challenges along with some pretty severe allegations, I do pray for a solution for help. The Miami Seaquarium has served generations of students on school field trips, offering a rare chance for hands-on learning about marine biology, ecosystems, and conservation. "For many local kids, this is their only chance to see marine life up close." I Pray for Help to bring this long time Marine Park and Oceanarium back to it's glory. These birds are adorable, but they are threatened by habitat loss. There is a volunteer who regularly checks for Piping Plovers during migration, and she looks for bands that reveal the path of the bird's migratory flight. It's important that we have places for these birds to forage, and I hope the city continues to protect this beach for that use. The bathrooms were a welcome amenity. I had problems paying the parking fee, it was a complicated process. There were about 10 peafowl (peacocks) that roamed the park, a remaining vestige of when this was a zoo. My Yelp friend, who was recently in Mexico at a park there, took a lovely photo of the Flamingos there. I liked the photo & said; "Great photo, my favorite OuiOui!" He asked me if I had been to that park to see them. I told him I had, and I had seen them in many many different places & parks. However, it was my wish that they would come back to the Everglades. He wrote me back & said, "I didn't know they left." I was very surprised by this statement. I thought everyone knew that American Flamingos were native to Florida & they have been pretty much extinct since the early 1900's. In the early 1900's, flamingos in Florida were nearly hunted to extinction for their meat AND their pink feathers, which were highly valued as fashion accessories for hats and fans. La vie en rose OuiOui. "Historically, large flocks lived in South Florida, but they vanished around 1900 due to the plume trade." They were also over hunted for food as they are considered a delicacy. So is the Blue Heron & the Sandhill Crane. The Sandhill Crane is known as "the filet mignon of the sky." If you look in very old cook books you will find recipes for all these birds. Thankfully, they are now protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA) of 1918. This law prohibits the hunting, killing, capturing, selling, or transportation of protected migratory birds without a federal permit. I love all the Flamingos, American Birds. I'm always traveling around trying to get photos of all of them, especially in the wild. I write about this all the time OuiOui. The best place to see the American Flamingos up close right now, is at Flamingo Gardens. Flamingo Gardens is a 60 acre botanical park that was built in an old Orange orchard. It's an incredible place filled with beautiful tropical plants & flowers. There are orchids everywhere, gorgeous tropical birds everywhere, it sounds like you're in a jungle when you're there. It's a truly magnificent, magical place OuiOui. I'm so thrilled that the American Flamingos are coming back to their native Florida. The recent storms blew some of them in, all up and down the east coast, from the keys to upstate NY. You can see some small groups of them in the wild right now, however, it will take some time for their flocks to multiply back to where they should be, as Flamingos reach maturity slowly (6-7 years) and typically lay only one egg per year. In the meantime, you can see them up close & personal at the Fabulous Flamingo Gardens. Moi fave Botanical park in America. I think in the end it was about 8 different varieties and everyone on the tour had their own favorites. Then we went back to base for different tasting tour with Phillip, who showed us new areas of the park and we tasted another 6 fruits with him!
