The experiences that they offer for an additional fee are honestly the only thing worth going to here. The zoo itself is kind of meh. Cons: The zoo itself is extremely small and most of the animal enclosure stink worse than almost every other zoo I've even been to. There's a very small variety of animals and not very many exotic animals to looks at. The food options are very limited they had 2 small food stands with basics like popcorn, waters, frozen lemonade, burger, hot dog, Cesar salad, mozzarella sticks and wings. The only gluten free option I really saw was the salad. Pros: They offer a ton of experiences including big and little capybara, lemur, sloths, birds, bunnies, goats, and flamingos. All of them seem to provide excellent exposure to each of the animals. We saw a group in the lemurs that were surrounded by them and were feeding and petting them. Capybara experience: We did the capybara petting experience and you got to sit in the closure with the small capybaras and pet them for around 30minutes. There is a photographer that joins you so you can purchase professional pictures later. The guide shows you how each individual capybara like to be pet to make them the happiest and when they get super relaxed they roll over and show you their bellies .
Jungle Island was definitely lack luster. First off, we went while it was raining, their gift shop does not sell umbrellas or rain ponchos, so everyone was buying a beach towel to try to stay dry. The venue itself was pretty, it felt like a jungle which was cool. There wasnt a ton of animals so I felt like we got through everything super quick. They have tons of birds. But as far as actual animals it was minimal. I think this place could be more fun if the weather didn't suck but overall just felt like a low budget attempt of a zoo.
Jungle Island holds a lot of sentimental value for me. I have fond memories of visiting the original Parrot Jungle location with my dad as a child. Now that I have a son of my own, I was excited to share a piece of that experience with him. We've visited Jungle Island twice so far, and both times, my son had a blast. Our favorite part of the park so far is the kids' splash area. It's a perfect way to cool off and let the kids burn some energy, and it's what we plan to take advantage of the most this summer. Conveniently, the splash zone is located right near the food trucks, which offer some surprisingly good options, making it an ideal lunch spot while the kids play. That said, I do think the park feels a bit underwhelming unless there's a special event or themed night happening. The experience becomes much more enjoyable if you're willing to spend a little extra on animal encounters or the petting zoo as those activities really enhance the visit. I would love to see more interactive, kid-friendly experiences that don't come with a hefty price tag, as well as improvements to the animals' enclosures to make them more spacious and stimulating. A few small upgrades could go a long way in elevating the overall atmosphere. One highlight this summer was their "Buy One Day, Come Back All Year" offer, which we definitely took advantage of. It's perfect for families looking to stretch their summer fun. I truly hope to see some new additions or renovations in the near future, but for now, we're making the most of it and enjoying the moments we can create together.

Food line and Oasis is ridiculous 1+ hour. Oasis seating is insufficient. 3rd floor restaurant was closed at 2pm til 4 pm. Disappointed at Picture quality of the picturea taken when we came in. NOT WoRth it!! Lemurs were the only hit. They get a good review. The Wallabies were lazy and interacted very little.
Jungle Island had a Luminosa display during Christmas, and our family went. It was great. Beautiful illuminations, and an absolutely fabulous show with Chinese performers where children participated, and they had lots of fun. One of the performers did a Chinese Face-Changing routine that was amazing. A Christmas Village with costumed carolers and a mini Café inside was also located inside the venue.
Jungle Island was a pretty interesting place to visit in terms of how it's all operated, but I'm always a little sad to see animals in any form of captivity. I was on a tour planned by friends and I didn't know what it all was before going. I will say that the staff who were handling the animals did very much seem like animal lovers themselves and that they really cared about the animals they worked with. In a few spots there were staff members who would be introducing guests to a certain animal - we got to meet skunks, alpacas, snakes, penguins, parrots and more. There were also areas where animals were just living and you could see them from afar, like a heard of flamingos, a group of kangaroos, and emus walking around. They had a few stadium shows where they gave lectures and introductions to some animals (ones that weren't just out on the paths with a handler to meet). These were not "shows" like you'd see at SeaWorld or The Seaquarium. I appreciated that, as I definitely do not like seeing animals made to perform or anything like that. With those of its positive aspects, I still do consider this almost a "zoo" type establishment. They do seem to take okay care of the animals, but they should be in their own habitat and free. In terms of non-animal things you can do - you can also see some cool sights from/inside Jungle Island. There are views of the Miami skyline and the water of Biscayne Bay. On the property, you can see palm trees, waterfalls, and a few cool gigantic Banyan trees, just to name a few. I'd say this might be a little more "fun" for kids, if you bring them. Adults may like it too, and some may be a little sad seeing animals in captivity. You'll have to make up your mind on that and do research before you go to see if a visit here is for you.

I loved jungle island. Haven't been here since I was a kid. My son got honor roll and I decide to take the day for jungle island. Best idea ever. There was a inflable water park. We spent the whole day seeing different animals and shows. I would recommend to come and bring the kids. The burger was a little too pricey. Between the burger and one drink it was like 45 bucks.. honesty I could've gone out to eat somewhere else before and would've enjoyed it better.
This place was amazing. I was pleasantly surprised by what initially looked like a location on the port and in a garage. The grounds were beautiful, open air and well kept. I did the Super VIP. It truly was a once in a lifetime experience as an animal lover, it was a highlight of my trip. I dare say it rivaled Disney!! The Lemurs and Tortoises were my two favorite encounters. The tour I did and photo package were expensive but worth every penny!! The staff were cheerful and happy. The enclosures were maintained and clean. The animals were happy
Luminosa at Jungle Island was a magical experience. I feel it was really worth the visit with beautiful lanterns and lights everywhere. It was fun to stroll along looking at all the lit up figures and a bonus you still get to see some of the animals. I think it would be a fun family event
What's firstly amazing about Jungle Island is how missable it is after driving by it on this island FOR YEARS. Just makes finally having visiting this venue so much more special with how incredible it is. Secondly, amazing is how big it feels despite its size and location (granted, I visited at night for a special event, so your mileage may vary) - though I admit, the exhibits seem too small for some of their fauna inhabitants. Third and finally, visiting it for said special event, Luminosa, was ABSOLUTELY wondrous. Made the visit absolutely worth it (even if my bus almost missed the stop). Plus, the staff is so kind and accommodating. We as a society need to invest and support spaces and places like this that not only offer incredible experiences, but also give back to all its visitors and urban spaces they inhabit - even if they're on a small, missable island (jajaja). read more

This is the first time I come to Jungle Island at this location and it was okay. As soon as you go in, you can still take pictures with parrot. This is a staple of theirs as I remember doing that as a child when it was called Parrot Jungle. However, the place seems to be falling apart and it was evident with red decorations falling off at the entrance. This is something that can easily be fixed. The children's play area is nice and pretty big. The treehouse, trampoline and the Beyhive were unique. The treehouse playground though needs a little bit more of an upkeep as part of the ground is lifting and things are falling apart. Seeing the animals was great. I fed a goat and enjoyed doing that but again some of those animals enclosures need more of an upkeep. The animal show at 11:30 AM is a little outdated. I would recommend changing it to make it more entertaining. Overall, if you come, don't have much expectations. It's a nice thing to do after you have done everything else in Miami. read more

I loved jungle island. Haven't been here since I was a kid. My son got honor roll and I decide to take the day for jungle island. Best idea ever. There was a inflable water park. Jungle Island is located on Parrot Jungle Trail in Miami and is a place for specific animal-lovers of all ages to enjoy. While zoos may have lions, tigers & bears (oh my-lol), Jungle Island has wildlife that includes flamingos, sloths, tropical birds, wallabies, goats , etc. Although the kangaroos were unavailable & Jungle Island is limited w/ the variety of animals that they have onsite, it was cool to spend time there and to see some animals. Garden Admission tickets are free & available when you order online (limited w/ 2 day advance registration required). The Garden Admission tickets were easy to order online and provides access to the main areas, their botanical garden & their playground. Specialized Packages, VIP Tours & other programs are available as add-on options & additional fees vary. Some of these include the following: 1.) Treehouse Trekking - walk fron different treehouses along a section of the Jungle Island property, etc. Open every day 9:30am - 5:30pm 2.) "Animal Encounters" - ability for patrons to interact w/ animals. These include the Lemur Encounter, Sloth Encounter, Wallaby Encounter, Wallaby Encounter, Flamingo, Bunny Encounter, etc. 3.) Jungle Kids Program The front entrance has a beautiful, well-manicured garden setting w/ gorgeous greenery. When you arrive at Jungle Island's front entrance, you walk indoors & are welcomed to the gift shop (a bit pricey just like other animal attraction venues...$5 for a can of soda? - the outdoor mini-concession stand was also a bit expensive / pricey), that has the admission area to purchase / get your admission tickets scanned by staff, etc. Staff also provide visitors w/ a Jungle Island Garden Admission Map / Park Guide before beginning the journey to roam the Jungle Island facility. Staff are wonderful, polite, friendly, answer questions & give information. The Educational Presentation occurs twice a day @ 11am & 2pm. The Educational Presentation in Jungle Island's Amphitheater was the highlight of the visit. Staff brought out various animals (ex. snakes, birds, goats, etc.), shared facts w/ the audience about each animal & allowed people to come up onto the stage, to hold them, pet them, etc. It was cute.... TAKE NOTE!! I suffered so you wouldn't have to!! Disclaimer : I signed up for the thrill seeker trek. If you want your heart rate to be in the 100 and have fun, do it. In the thrill seeker there are 4 courses total: easy, medium, hard and WTH. The first two ones are lower and kinda prepare you for what to come. You are hooked the whole time so it's completely safe. Here are my suggestions 1- Do it EARLY . I did it at 12 and it was HOT, the line was hot, I was sweating like crazy, I finished my water before I made it to the 3rd course. 2- BRING GLOVES: I had long nails so I lost 3 of them and the cable was hot so I also hurt my hand and I did not stop yall. 3- Bring WATER . After every course you can drink some and will definitely need it. 4- If you are doing the thrill seeking, get ready to work your upper body. That is not a joke. The blue line is crazy and I was praying to make it out because I was drained after all 3 courses. 5- I honestly suggest gym outfits. I took my shirt off half way because I was sweating in pores I didn't know existed. *that was my very first time. I am not used to all that. Would I do it again??? YESSSS no second thoughts specially now I know what to expect. Would I come more prepared: DEFINITELY. Overall: get ready to have fun, do the explorer trek as starters if you don't know what you can handle. I don't know when to stop so please don't do the whole thing if you're not sure. read more

Wanting to be Adventurous on a Saturday Morning we Booked a Couple of Events at Jungle Island to Explore the Grounds. If you get there right at 10am or a Couple of Minutes Before you will get a Prime Garage Parking Spot! As we watched people walking in since this was our First Visit we saw Closed Toe Shoes, Ponytails, No Bags, and Keep Your Clothes Simply Lightweight Athletic. The Entrance is a bit Confusing but once you find the Entrance it is Simple and you are In! The Staff is Very Friendly once you are Checked In. We bought their Capybara Experience along with their Tree-Tops Excursion which is 2 Separate Companies at the Jungle Island. As we waited for the Capybara Excursion we Roamed the Grounds. Parrots Overtake this Island as they are every which way! Beautiful Parrots but A Lot! They also have Monkeys, Goats, Flamingos, Kangaroos, Reptiles, and More. The Grounds are Decently Clean with Restrooms on every corner. They also have an Amphitheater for Showings. Our Capybara Experience was One to be Desired... as Guinea Pig Owners we were Quite Excited for this Experience as they are to be Called "The Largest Rodent Guinea Pigs". In Our Minds we are going into a Room with the Pigs to have a One on One or possibly having a couple more Join. This was Not the Case.. You go into the Capybara Cage with them and will have about 20 People in Your Group. You get a Canister of Lettuce & Veggies and are Free to Feed either Hermione or Her Husband. They are Soft with Taking the Food from You but their Hair is Extra Rough and Not Pleasing to Touch. It would have been Nice for them to give us a Brush to Brush them. The Whole Cage Experience for us and most others lasted about 15 Minutes or Less.. On the Day we were there to do the Tree-Top Excursion it was Extremely Hot so we Rescheduled. They Gladly Rescheduled us for another Date. Once the Date came around we get a Text Message that the Tree-Top Excursion is Permanently Closed due to Maintenance.. Refund Granted. read more
I have been wanting to check out Luminosa for the longest but the opportunity didn't present itself until over the Thanksgiving break. It is beautiful to see but was definitely crowded. Tis the season right? So with that being said have fun but be prepared for potential lines to get in and mindful of those around you. They do have bites to eat like popcorn, pizza, corn dogs etc. but it is on the pricier side. After all that walking we were hungry so we def needed food. The pizza is freshly made so that's a plus. My family and I chose the 7pm time slot but I would consider going to the first showing or the last just to enjoy the park with less people. read more

My kids were very happy to be there. They were able to interact with animals and use the playground. The watersides are fantastic but make sure to bring towels and rent a cabana. read more
I went yesterday night with my nephews sister and mom. We went to the Luminosa Festival of Lights. We all enjoyed the lanterns and designs. They were beautiful and very unique. Each sections that we visited, were awesome. You could tell that there was time and hard work put in. We admired the dedication and hard work put in for it. We will definitely come again! read more

I had the pleasure of stopping by Jungle Island for their vamped up "Luminosa" experience that had hundreds of blown up and carefully decorated sculptures and inflatables infused with the animals here in Miami. There was an oriental acrobatic show lined up for certain hours of the day and it was almost as if I was able to once again experience the incredible skills of the performers I saw back on my previous journeys through Asia. The cool Miami evening was brisk that night and it was super cool to experience this setup. My group and I were even fortunate to meet Burkey, who is such a great salesman & got us some pretty sweet photos to take with us. He rocked! Hope to be back soon! read more
Review is for the Catered Food; not the event space. I came for two events in the span of a week. A candlelight four string Mother's Day Warner Brothers film and TV ensemble and a non profit annual dinner with 300+ guests. Net net: you need a new caterer. Fritanga in every dish, no vegetables, no bold flavors, and bland entrees. You can do better. And you should. I hope you make an attempt to liven up and modernize your event catering options. read more

We got the private sitting with Lemurs, and I highly recommend it. Ryan was the guide, and he works with these lemurs. They trust him (said he's Papa to them), and he trusts them. Queen Natasha, Loki, Peter Parker.. each had a name and knew their names, too. Each had their own personality. It was hilarious. Ryan would put some snacks in our hands, and the Lemurs would hop on your head or lap and have a nibble. He had us take off hoop earrings, and when one tried taking a button from my shirt, Ryan said, "we do not steal, leave the button," and Lemur would let go. Soft balls of fluff with these tiny grippy hands that had incredible balance. Ryan mentioned they were about 11 months old (the 4yrs elsewhere in Jungle Island were aggressive). Side note, near the kids playground they had snacks, we got a plain pizza and it was Hella delicious. read more

Wow! Bucket list check off for me. Always wanted to go to the Candlelight concert. It comes every year and I'm so happy I actually came to see it. This was a beautiful surprise. Thank you so much. We attended the Bad Bunny dedication. So beautiful hearing his songs played in such a beautiful melody. Would definitely recommend anyone who has not attended one to try it. read more
We had family visiting from Switzerland that used to love Parrot Jungle back in the day and was so looking forward to coming to Jungle Island but everyone was so disappointed with our trip to Jungle Island... First of all, admission price we thought was great at $20 a person for an adult but then we entered the "park" and you walk around for maybe 15 or 20 minutes and it's over you have literally seen the entire "park" if you can call it that. What is that?! What's the point?! It was great to see the parrots sitting on their perches and that you can walk right next to the birds and take photos with them (without being charged for it or without them being in an enclosure) which was great but besides that there wasn't much of anything to do or see at Jungle Island so it was disappointing. You walk for 15-20 mins and there are some lemurs in a cage, a few birds in smaller cages here and there, a small pool with flamingos hanging out... and that is it. Everyone kind of looked at each other afterwards and was like that's it? Then when you leave you have to pay $15 for parking for the 20 mins you were there for which is absolutely ridiculous... Honestly for the price and the 20 mins we spent here we could have saved the gas and the $60 for parking and admission tickets and gone to Zoo Miami instead or even the Flamingo Gardens where there is much more to see there. It's really sad because we were expecting so much more - we won't be coming back. read more

Nice place to visit with kids! They have cute monkeys, capybaras, flamingos, sloths, owls, parrots, and more. You can pay for animal encounters. There is a playground area where you have to pay an extra $10 per person. But my son loved this the most so I think it's worth. However, they do have another smaller playground as well. There is a food truck and nice waterfront views. There are special events throughout the year. I highly recommend Luminosa during the winter months. It is truly magical! read more
Perfect family fun day! Thanks to being at jungle island. I've been a south Floridian for about 20 years now, and never had I ever been here lol. So finally, made it out. A link up with family and friends is highly recommended. I invited one of my daughter's school friends, along with two acquaintances and with my own fam bam crew. We had a time! Are we allowed to bring our luggage with us through the exhibits? On vacation and will have our duffel bags with us
Hi Claire, You are welcome to leave your luggage in the Guest Relations office. We'll take care of it while you are inside the park.
We have babies! Are we aloud to bring baby food and formula?
Yes, you can bring them. They don't check your belongings and won't stop you. Very accommodating staff.
Do they serve alcohol for regular day visitors in park?
I did not see any alcohol served, very few places to eat ice cream etc., very expensive too
Are u open? Is it fixed from hurricane yet?
It looked well maintained to me! No parts of the park seemed closed off either.
