You still have to pay for parking. I recommend the parking lot next door. The Pirate Park Playground was built by Superior Playgrounds who was tasked with designing a one-of-a-kind pirate theme play space to spark creative play and provide a safe place for budding buccaneers to play. The playground is made of recycled material like milk jugs and was created to be corrosion resistant so that it would always look good in this salt water coastal ecosystem. Located only 100 feet from the beach, the playground is fenced in for safety. There is a large pirate ship for older children to climb on and slide down and a smaller area for younger privateers. The crows nest with rigging looked especially fun to climb. Other playground play structures include clownfish and blue tang fish spring riders, a custom octopus playhouse, and palm tree shade. There are four triangle sail shades and poured-in-place safety surfacing to protect little knees and bottoms. Bathrooms are nearby. During my visit the playground was filled with kids and their families enjoying the nautical theme. This unique play space fosters imagination and physical movement for the youngest North Beach residents and visitors.

They have an outdoor enclosed section which includes rock climbing and what looked like axe throwing (for kids). Inside they have plenty of arcade games along with laser tag. They also have some cool new bowling lanes in the back. I didn't get to taste the food or drinks but they did have a pretty wide diversity of options including the usual fair, pizza chicken fingers and more importantly alcohol for the adults but also lomo saltado and chicken and waffles. They also have private room upstairs for parties. The kids had a great time and it's pretty enclosed so not easy to lose track of your kid. Overall it's a solid option to host a party and keep the kids entertained.

Next to a bright line rail track. Scary but it's on the other side of the fence of course. No danger here. Parking right outside and free. You don't have one of those park and pay situations. I had heard about what is called an "Eco experience education" through a kids meetup group I'm in…read moreand thought it would be fun to set up for my daughters Girl Scout troop. It was! Michelle, a marine biologist, runs these programs, and she was fantastic to work with. Our group did the "seine-sational field trip". We met at pelican harbor park at low tide and Michelle and an assistant waded into the water with our troop and nets to see what marine life we could find. The nets are emptied into either a bucket (for shells, grasses, etc) or a little aquarium that was set up on the beach. Once we had found enough Michelle brought out special water microscopes and leaflets and worked with the girls to identify what they found while sharing information in a fun and informative way. Michelle also makes sure that nothing is harmed or touched during this and all specimens are returned to the ocean. The girls had a blast and the parents where all so impressed by the program and Michelle that we are already planning which of her programs we want to do next and what week we want to send our kids to her summer camps. Prices for the programs vary depending on if you are a school, a non profit, a group or just an individual doing one of the open to the public times. As a group, we paid just under $15 a girl (adults were free) for this particular program, which was two hours long.

That kind of pattern is really concerning. It felt incredibly unprofessional and honestly bizarre. Asking questions before committing to an event should be normal, not a reason to be shut down. I would be very cautious booking here if you expect clear communication or flexibility.

However, the place seems to be falling apart and it was evident with red decorations falling off at the entrance. This is something that can easily be fixed. The treehouse playground though needs a little bit more of an upkeep as part of the ground is lifting and things are falling apart. Seeing the animals was great. I fed a goat and enjoyed doing that but again some of those animals enclosures need more of an upkeep. The animal show at 11:30 AM is a little outdated. I would recommend changing it to make it more entertaining. Overall, if you come, don't have much expectations. It's a nice thing to do after you have done everything else in Miami.

Bay Harbor Islands is a charming 383 acre island town in Biscayne Bay. It is made up of two…read moreislands, originally known as Broadview and Bay Harbor for the streets that run around the perimeter of each island. Today they are known as the West and East Islands. Fun fact, a condo in Bay Harbor Islands was used for the exterior of Dexter Morgan's apartment in the Showtime's TV show Dexter. The Bay Harbor Islands Tot Lot is off of Broadview Dr. on West Island. It was dedicated in the memory of Vice Mayor Louis Haas MD. The tot lot may be small in size but it has great amenities. There is a shade covered tree house themed playground and a second blue and red playground. There is also a splash pad, benches, and covered picnic pavilion with picnic tables. My favorite part of the park was the view of Biscayne Bay and the Broad Causeway which takes you on and off the island. There is no parking area but I found a spot in front of a house next to the tot lot that was being built. There is also no restrooms. This park is primarily used by neighborhood residents but if you want a great water view, stop by.
