This is a fun stop to explore along with all the other wildlife parks in the area. This took us about an hour just to walk around, we tried to be scarce with the monkey food to be able to feed the monkeys at the end of the park as well. We were able to find just one tube to feed the monkeys at the end and the bowls at the beginning. Seeing the other animals was a great addition and the fish were really nice to see as well. To interact with the monkeys it's apart of a tour, which is $150/person. We opted out and just walked around on our own. If you want to spend some time in the park they have little tours in additional exhibits every 2 hours or so. The one we saw was where you could give lettuce to the tortoise, but there was a lot of kids so we just kept walking around. Nice quick spot to stop at to see some cute animals!

I went there to do the capybara experience with my daughter. Jungle island itself is very small and walked the whole thing in 30 minutes while waiting for the experience to start. It's not easy to find your way, the signs were confusing. I didn't know that the experience included like 10 other people and the trainer even told that our time slot was overbooked. We didn't get to really interact with the capybara since there was so many people and they were overwhelmed. The pictures taken by the photographer were terrible. It's difficult to get a good picture with all those people around. Very disappointed with the experience. They should mention that the experiences isn't private but includes a group of strangers. The capybaras were cute though.

Let me preface this by saying I visited this place over 25 years ago and was so excited about it then, and since I was in the neighborhood I decided to go again. Well. The Monkey Jungle looks like it is in a sad state of affairs and much of the park is closed. Sure, there are monkeys to feed (which is the highlight), and sure they're super cute to look at, but the energy of this place is kinda depressing. When we visited, we were told we were paying a discounted rate of $20 per person due to the closures of some areas due to hurricane dance and fallen trees. Wasn't the last hurricane like 20 years ago?! One might conclude that repairs to exhibits and clean ups could be made. You can see and feel the decline. I hope it continues to stay open and get visitors. Otherwise who knows where are all of the those precious monkeys will go? And there are some birds, iguanas and tortoises to see. One of the exhibits said "sloth", but we didn't see him. We were there for about an hour but covered the entire space in about 20 minutes.

Monkey Jungle is Miami's Longest-Running Wildlife Park opening back in the early 1930's!! It is a historic Icon and I have fond memories of going there when I was a young child. The park was much different back then, I am referring to circa 1975 to the 1980's with my parents. One of the Monkeys reached out to me took my eye glasses off my face. My parents tell the story fondly. Fast forward like 30 years and here I am taking my own kids to this same park, however the layout is much different. My kids and myself absolutely love feeding the monkeys by putting peanuts in basket and the monkeys are on top and pull up the basket and then put it back down for more peanuts. It is just the coolest and no more monkeys reaching out taking off your glasses. Feeding the monkeys was never like this before and that is because of Hurricane Andrew in 1992. We are so lucky that this wildlife park is still here today. The path of Hurricane Andrew went directly thru Monkey Jungle causing catastrophic damage that you can not imagine. If they were not already dead, Apes, Monkeys and Gorillas roaming the streets. God Bless the staff and caretakers of Monkey Jungle, they stayed on site helping the animals that were hurt, helping the animals find their way home. Courageous Amazing People!!! The wings of Aviary is one of the additions that was added to the park after Hurricane. Monkey Jungle is such a fun family park, we are so lucky to have this in Miami.

My 13 year old daughter (a monkey lover) and I had am amazing experience. I called and Carlos patiently answered all my questions. We did the guided tour and it was worth every penny. Everyone that works there was extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Eddie our tour guide was fantastic!! Respectful, kind and had wisdom to spare on everything we asked. Getting to feed the monkeys up close is an experience my daughter and I will never forget. I will say, even if it's hot bring a tight fitting long sleeve shirt with neck and chest coverage to wear during the feeding. The mosquitoes and ants will nibble on you otherwise. I highly recommend doing the full experience. My heart is so beyond full. The babies were magical. I am forever grateful I got to share this with my daughter.

This place is good for kids probably up through 10-11. It's probably 2-3 hour experience if you do everything like watch the monkey show it's just an explanation about monkey history and food is thrown in. Also the reptile aka tortoise feeding and squirrel monkeys. Based on other reviews we didn't do the $150 experience since it was everything we did but a walk into and personal feeding of the monkeys. For $20pp it was worth the few hours. We bought food in the front and went around the feeding cups an tubes and that was fun for a young one. Not sure that $150 would be worth it.

Monkey time is what you are working on here. We drove 45 minutes for the hopes to feed some monkeys. Well we fed like 2 or 3 and they were not that hungry. I was super excited about this experience but the monkeys weren't having it that day. Super disappointing! (this was $20 per person) Small place, pretty clean. How many animals are actually on site? I have no idea but I felt like whenever we turned around their were like 1 or 2 animals to see. We did watch an 11am show of the squirrel monkeys and they came out for wheel barrels full of food. We weren't feeding them but hey, those monkeys appeared! I did see a super fat iguana. Like so fat he just laid there and looked like his arms couldn't support his weight. Kind of depressing.

Very fun, able to work though the rain and still were able to go to all the stations. Feeding the tortoises was very fun.

When I tell you that this stop was the highlight of my day trip to Miami!! I am so glad that I stumbled upon it while searching for things to do in the city. I called the Monkey Jungle on Wednesday morning 01/5/2022 during our drive from Palm Beach to Miami. I was advised that we could sign up for the 2:30 pm tour and that we needed to arrive by 2:15pm to complete paper work and pay the fee. We arrived around 1:30pm. We were greeted by Steve (The director). He was very personable and chatted with us about the business. He also asked a staff to escort us to the restroom that was located on the property. He suggested that we go grab a bite to eat and return around 2:15pm. Upon our return we were the only patrons. We paid the entry fee that totals $160.50 with taxes and signed a waiver form. Another group of 2 arrived shortly after. The tour commenced about 10 minutes after the noted start time of 2:30pm. Our guide was Will and he was AWESOME!! He was knowledgeable, personable and just had a great energy!! Most importantly he had a great sense of humor. He is the kind of person you wished was your friend!! Will advised us that his goal was for us to have a great time and his only ask from us was to be safe and to keep the animals safe. To keep the monkeys safe we had to ensure that we wear our mask properly for the duration of our time at the Monkey Jungle. Will provided great information about the various types of monkeys on site as well as history on how the company was started. Following the informational session of the tour we were provided an opportunity to feed the monkeys. This first encounter was us placing food (dried fruit) in a dish and watching the monkeys use a chain to pull the food to themselves. This activity shows the intellect of the monkeys. It was interesting to see how the monkeys that have a higher rank skipped over the raisins! Will said they basically think raisins are for the lower ranking monkeys!! The main event is going into the rainforest. This is where the squirrel monkeys reside and where we interact with them face to face. Will showed us the best way to get the monkeys to come to us. His visual example was on point. Once we were given a tray and food was placed on it the monkeys were ready to eat!!! We had so much fun feeding the monkeys and taking some cute pictures and videos. This experience is pricey, however, I think it is well worth the cost for special occasions. It is clear that the employees love what they do. The great customer service and entertainment of the monkeys makes it all worthwhile!! My only wish is that it lasts a little longer!!

there weren't just monkeys, there were birds, iguanas, emus, parrots, turtles, etc. this is an amazing place to bring your kids 10+. it's very worth it to get the tour, especially where you can feed the monkeys, i suggest the tour, you go into the monkeys habitat and fed them, which means, you have on hand contact with monkeys, but you won't get that offer if you do not do a y tour!! WILL, will is an amazing tour guide, you absolutely need to have him, hopefully you guys can!! we were lucky enough to get him after reading a good review about him, and yeah, he's pretty good !! thank you so much will!! p.s. you should tip !

    Monkeys and masks

Fantastic I would only change one thing.. Our tour guide was fantastic and very funny. The up close impersonal experience with the monkeys was truly breathtaking.. five out of five stars for the staff and the experience. The only reason I'm giving three stars is because of them making you wear masks when playing with the monkeys it clearly has nothing to do with the monkey safety and is still just left over woke ideology. I highly recommend this business changing that policy. All in all I would recommend going however, you absolutely need to be prepared to wear a mask...that's sad In my book. Still a lot of fun though.

The drive was about 45 minutes for us, and I definitely recommend purchasing tickets online and downloading the zoo app ahead of time the map in the app was super helpful while walking the grounds. There was plenty of parking, which made arrival easy. Because the weather was cooler earlier in the day, some of the animals weren't out, but we still enjoyed seeing the ones that were. We stopped by a stand and grabbed spiked slushies, and let me tell you they were realllllllyyyyy good! Especially once the day heated up, they were very refreshing as we walked around. The zoo offers several ways to get around, including guided golf cart tours, a mini train, and cycle cart rentals. We decided to skip those and just get our steps in instead, which worked out nicely. We had a great time with the animals we did get to see, though we only managed to cover about half of the zoo before the little one was ready to head out. While I was here many of the animals had a fair amount of space and were definitely more taken care of than their original situation. For example, some of the monkeys were lab monkeys and other others were owned by civilians who thought they could take care of exotic animals when they clearly couldn't. I do wish the lions have more space for that many being in one enclosure, but it looks like all they did was lay down and sleep in the sun basking so they may just be happy like that The price is a little bit expensive for a general tour, but I don't think it's not worth it. We took the general wildlife experience and were able to have a tour and then also visit with a couple exotic species, including a couple of ball pythons, a really awesome spectacle owl, which was my favorite and some other reptiles. Overall, I think it was worth a visit, but I'm not sure I'd come back again since I feel like I saw everything unless it was for an encounter. The otter encounter seems the most interactive so I'd recommend that one. Our tour guide was Mikayla, and she was very honest and gave facts that she knew and nothing that she did. I do wish the different enclosures had labels on them to give us an idea of the names of the species and where they're originally located as the tour guide wasn't able to answer one of our questions about them but gave what she knew. I kind of like the idea that people aren't allowed to go roaming around the property on their own banging on enclosures and trying to stick their fingers through bars. I think it's just a really good safety precaution. You will be limited to about an hour worth of a visit overall I had a great time.

It's a wonderful little add-on to an already fantastic day at the museum with your family, friends and even date. Bonus: they also offer food options like fries, hamburgers, and chicken nuggets, making it a great spot to recharge during your visit. Highly recommended! As well as the planetarium show, it is 100% worth the extra add on to the ticket.

Though they were hunted to…read morenear-extinction by the early 20th century, new research confirms they are returning, with growing populations in the Everglades, Biscayne Bay, and the Florida Keys." My Yelp friend, who was recently in Mexico at a park there, took a lovely photo of the Flamingos there. I liked the photo & said; "Great photo, my favorite OuiOui!" He asked me if I had been to that park to see them. I told him I had, and I had seen them in many many different places & parks. However, it was my wish that they would come back to the Everglades. He wrote me back & said, "I didn't know they left." I was very surprised by this statement. I thought everyone knew that American Flamingos were native to Florida & they have been pretty much extinct since the early 1900's. In the early 1900's, flamingos in Florida were nearly hunted to extinction for their meat AND their pink feathers, which were highly valued as fashion accessories for hats and fans. La vie en rose OuiOui. "Historically, large flocks lived in South Florida, but they vanished around 1900 due to the plume trade." They were also over hunted for food as they are considered a delicacy. So is the Blue Heron & the Sandhill Crane. The Sandhill Crane is known as "the filet mignon of the sky." If you look in very old cook books you will find recipes for all these birds. Thankfully, they are now protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA) of 1918. This law prohibits the hunting, killing, capturing, selling, or transportation of protected migratory birds without a federal permit. I love all the Flamingos, American Birds. I'm always traveling around trying to get photos of all of them, especially in the wild. I write about this all the time OuiOui. The best place to see the American Flamingos up close right now, is at Flamingo Gardens. Flamingo Gardens is a 60 acre botanical park that was built in an old Orange orchard. It's an incredible place filled with beautiful tropical plants & flowers. There are orchids everywhere, gorgeous tropical birds everywhere, it sounds like you're in a jungle when you're there. It's a truly magnificent, magical place OuiOui. I'm so thrilled that the American Flamingos are coming back to their native Florida. The recent storms blew some of them in, all up and down the east coast, from the keys to upstate NY. You can see some small groups of them in the wild right now, however, it will take some time for their flocks to multiply back to where they should be, as Flamingos reach maturity slowly (6-7 years) and typically lay only one egg per year. In the meantime, you can see them up close & personal at the Fabulous Flamingo Gardens. Moi fave Botanical park in America. As always, I will keep searching for them in the wilds, always & forever, "1000 wild flamingos" la vie en rose OuiOui. Highest Recommendations.

We started with a seasonal special event, the Mango Tasting Tour. Our guide, Madelyn was a font of knowledge about the park itself, the trees we were passing through, and the fruits we sampled. I think in the end it was about 8 different varieties and everyone on the tour had their own favorites. Then we went back to base for different tasting tour with Phillip, who showed us new areas of the park and we tasted another 6 fruits with him! Really cool fruits like longan and caviar limes, but also things I'd never heard of, like bael and bilimbi. Once our tours were done we went back to the gift shop / lobby for some cold drinks. They sell iced coffee, soda, energy drinks, Gatorade, and even beer, wine, and cider, so something for everyone. You can also simply walk the grounds on your own if you don't feel like riding around in a tram. Anything on the ground is up for grabs, so if you want to try something go ahead and taste it! They do have rules, no picking growing fruits, and you can't take fruit home, but they welcome you taking all the seeds you want.

Beautiful little waterfall features are also on the property. We took the tram tour, offered daily at 11:00 and 1:30. Andrew was very knowledgeable, excited and passionate about his work and interests in gardening, and since there were just four of us on the tour, he offered samples of some freshly picked produce. He also shared interesting facts and information - the bananas we eat today are overproduced and so prone to disease, that likely we will no longer have them in the next 8 years! Instead, we should diversify our farming practices and learn to enjoy things like the dwarf Brazilian bananas, and any of the plethora other varieties.
