Listen...I don't know how I JUST now ate here recently. Idk how, what, when, where I was, but this was kinda sorta life changing for me. I was a cava girly!! But after eating here, I'm now a Zoa girly!!! I had 1 bowl of their Marrakesh bowl and now idk how to act. I can't stop thinking about it. Let's be fr. The beef tagine? Amazing. I should have gotten extra omg. I had the saffron rice as a base and wow? The flavors were melting in my tongue I couldn't even speak. 100/10 that's all I have to say.

Back at Zoa and it was perfect. Again! Had the couscous bowl with lamb. There was ample amounts of both meat and grains. It comes with 6 toppings and sauce. So tasty! Service was top notch, just like last time. The employees were sweet and helpful with recommendations. The restaurant was very clean and the employees were very quick to clean tables.

Excellent portions sizes, friendly service. Healthy, flavorful and filling alternative to traditional grab and go eateries. Seating inside and out. Loved the mixture of protein, carbs, veggies, and sauce.

If you like the creativity of Chipotle & cava, then my friend... I now introduce the Moroccan way! So incredibly good - so many bursting flavors that mend well no matter what toppings you get. If you are hesitant, they give free samples - don't be afraid to jump in there and try 2 or 3 options.. or all of them .. I enjoyed my time, restaurant was clean, trendy, inviting and the service was patient, kind and very helpful in explaining the Moroccan culture! Felt like I was in a different country.. 10000/10

Zoa is absolutely fire! If you're in the mood for something quick, healthy, affordable, and most importantly tasty you gotta give this place a try. Think Chiptole or CAVA, but BETTER. So colorful, so flavorful. I made my own bowl with saffron rice, lamb, and a plethora of toppings. I mixed everything together as I was eating and it was just a party in my mouth with every bite. Everything complimented each other so well. Definitely planning to come back.

In the 5 years that Zoa has been in the Heights, it has managed to become one of the city's most hyped businesses while garnering one of the highest ratings of any establishment in Houston. It has expanded to several locations around the loop and become the gold standard for consistent, delicious fast casual. Not half bad for a business that started during COVID. I'm not one to buy into the hype easily, but I've never had a bad meal here. It seems that they have so much going right for them that it's really hard to pinpoint all the things I love about them. Could it be the stellar customer service? The quaint, brightly lit, yet inviting interior? The Moroccan vibe with all the decor pieces and aroma of the tea brewing in the background? Maybe it's the fact they're never too busy and coupled by the fact they can churn out orders quickly and efficiently. Perhaps it's the delicious food, from aromatic soups to fabulous combinations of meat and veggie friendly options. More than likely, it's all of the above. The combinations feature a variety of proteins, with a choice of mixed greens, saffron rice, quinoa brown rice, or couscous. The Marrakesh (beef tagine) is my favorite for now, followed by the casablanca (lamb meshwi) and the kenitra (beef kefta). Bowl prices fluctuate between $11-12 but that's the most expensive item on the menu (so far). Additionally, I appreciate that they're an ideal space for solo diners and/group feasts. It's a near perfect lunch option and a fabulous casual meal with plenty of vegetarian, gluten-free, and Halal options. I am impressed each time I step foot in here and look forward to trying their other locations. _____________ My photos: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/zoa-moroccan-kitchen-houston?userid=ysCBsXWPB-LAiewVS3jZfQ

Casablanca Bowl!!

Wow! Love this place. If I lived or worked in the area, I'd be a regular, for sure. Delicious, healthy, colorful, and affordable. Their specialty is Mediterranean bowls. Build your own, or they have standards you can choose, as-is or with some changes. We each had lamb bowls. Mine was the Casablanca bowl. The other two in my party custom-built theirs. Each of us were delighted with our choice. Each bowl cost us about $12 each. Their bottled Moroccan tea is great. It's pre-sweetened but not overly so, and very refreshing. We also tried a couple of desserts. One was a huge macaroon, and the other was some type of date bar that was surprisingly delicious with a flavor that reminded me of pecan pie. The place is as casual as a Chipotle. But much healthier and with a whole lot more choices. You could eat there every day and not make the same bowl twice. Our behind-the-counter server was so sweet. She explained everything very well that it made it easy for us, as first-timers, to order with confidence. They have more than one location in Houston. This one took a moment to find but it was pretty close to I-10 and they had dedicated parking spaces. I don't see a lot of casual restaurants with so many reviews and such a high, five-star rating. But now I can see why this one is thoughts of so well by its customers!

For simplicity sake, consider this place a tastier CAVA. Zoa is a build your own Mediterranean bowl with meats and sides. They also have several pre-designed bowls that are popular too. I ordered the Fez, which comes with Chicken Chermoula, Confit Onions, Pickles & Olives, Zaalouk, Pickled Red Onion Cabbage, Greens, and Red Harissa (copied from their menu). The flavors were delicious and paired well together. The sauces made everything a little creamy and a little spicy. They do note the red harissa is very spicy, but I found it to be quite mild. I previously had the Casablanca bowl, which I also recall being pretty good. The servers are friendly and answer questions about the sides or how to order. The value is pretty good too. The Fez bowl came out to ~$12, which is on par with other build your own bowl spots, but this tasted way better.

Wow! To say I am amazed by this place is an understatement. Came here on a whim; just saw it on the map and noticed it was on our way to where we were going after. It's a little tucked away, just off of N Shepherd, across the street from Coffee House at West End. Parking is limited, but it wasn't too crowded when we went, and there's plenty street parking nearby. The staff was very friendly and explained to us how their system worked. Very similar to places like Chipotle and Cava. However, I think this place is even better. There are so many options for bases, proteins, and toppings, and you can get it in a bowl or in bread. I ordered a bowl with roasted chicken and assorted toppings, and it was absolutely delicious! The chicken was moist and super flavorful. The toppings were great too. I especially liked the Cinnamon Carrots--I thought the sweetness of it worked so well with the spices of everything else. The seating area is also super cute and on-theme. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Zoa. It will definitely be part of my regular rotation now.

A Chipotle style build your bowl experience like I've never had before! I walked in not knowing anything and asked the staff for recommendations, and I was more than pleased with the results. I chose to try two proteins (beef tagine and lamb meshiwi), two bases (saffron rice and quinoa brown rice), as well as four free toppings all in a bowl, topped with slightly spicy garlic aioli sauce. What a mix of flavors! I've never had Moroccan food, so I can't comment on the authenticity, but it sure was good! This restaurant location is slightly on the smaller side with limited seating and parking out front, but my friends and I had no problem finding seating/parking off peak hours when visiting at 1:30pm last Sunday. Pro tip: if it's your first time visiting, you can ask for samples if you're unsure what protein to choose.

Food and service was amazing. It was our first time visiting and we were encouraged to try as many samples as we wanted. The spice was just right, hot mint tea was delicious after. Will definitely be back

Very impressed with all of the flavors of the meat and toppings! Nothing was bland and the staff was very informative on what everything was. The place is a little small but it's perfect for a quick place to eat. We really enjoyed the vibrant Morrocan defo

All the positive reviews are accurate. I really hope they will open a location in Chicago soon. The beef is delicious, and the variety of toppings didn't bury the flavors.

We appreciated that kind gesture. Every food item on the menu looked delicious. I decided on the Lamb Rack. Loved the texture of the lamb and loved the basmati rice. My family in Houston waited six months to celebrate my birthday due to my health issues, and I feel so blessed to have them around me. We got there on time. Velet parking is available, but if you want to avoid more waiting, pass the restaurant, and you will see a big parking lot. We walked in and loved the interior, but it was very crowded with happy faces. We were seated in 5 minutes and started enjoying the ambiance and decor. It's a beautiful place to celebrate precious moments with your family and friends. Everyone loved our server, Zack, and his presence and approach. He talks so kindly with each of us. His recommendations were so good that we found every kind of dish for everyone, including vegetarian options. We started with sides, Thanks to Zack.

One thing we really appreciated was the toppings bar, which included pickles, onions, pickled onions, jalapeños, and two different barbecue sauces so you could customize each bite. They even had a mini soft-serve ice cream machine for a little dessert after your meal, which was a nice touch. They also offer family meal options, making it a great choice for larger groups. The reception area was small and almost claustrophobic, but very ornate. There were a few chairs for you to wait. We didn't wait long, probably less than a minute. As the hostess lead us into the main dinning area, I was shocked on how big the place was (it reminding me of the big meat market restaurants in NYC). The first room was bright from the outside sunlight, almost like an outside cafe. Our table was in a different area, where it was a little darker and decorated a lot differently from the previous room. As I looked around, there were other sections at this restaurant that kind of represented different places. The section we sat in had a very long table...which I'm guessing can host a very big family or corporate party. It sat right next to the open kitchen. Our waitress, Yaretzy, was very nice. She explained how the owners traveled to the different states of India and want to share that experience at Musaafer. Yaretzy would provide an explanation for each dish. Some of them were mixed/put together table side. Everything was delicious, and not too spicy. Musaafer is fine dining, so it's not something we can do ever weekend. But we will be back. Getting here was a little tricky if you are not familiar with the area. The restaurant is located in the Galleria. The entrance to Musaafer is on the first floor inside the mall, down the hallway closest to Saks Fifth Ave on the right (if facing Saks). You will need to take the private elevator to the second floor or walk up the stairs. There is valet parking if you prefer to do that. I think there is a small parking lot in front of the restaurant that might be free, but we went into the underground Purple garage. If you park right after going down the ramp into the Purple garage, you will see an elevator into Saks Fifth Ave, which you take up and walk outside with a short walk to Musaafer. The only problem with what we did was when Saks closes, we couldn't take that elevator back down. There were stairs back down to the purple garage, but it stank! There had to be another elevator that will take you into the mall.

I'm always happy to discover a good restaurant recommendation, and this one definitely did not disappoint. They had someone out front handing out samples of their Jollof rice, curry sauce, and stewed plantains, which were part of their Golden Bowl. I'm not a big plantain person, so I initially asked for mine without them. But, I decided to give them a try anyway, both with and without them. I'm glad I did because the plantains actually added a really nice balance to the dish. The combination of the rice, curry, and plantains was mostly savory with just a hint of sweetness. Hands down, this was my favorite dish. I also have to give a shout out to the woman out front handling the samples. I spoke with her the most, and she did a really good job of selling the restaurant. She was welcoming, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience enjoyable. Sometimes it's the little things, like someone taking the time to introduce you to the food and make recommendations, that can really make a difference. We ain't in Queens anymore…read more For years, I've eaten on Shah's all around the borough, initially out in Ozone Park and Briarwood before finding a real audience in Sunnyside. Now that they've sufficiently blown up around NYC, I was a bit shocked (and excited) to see them finally come to H-Town. What's the verdict? It's good enough to pass muster for NY standards (#1), is open super late, and will likely be my go-to Halal food for the foreseeable future. Since I've only had it in cart form, I'm still a buggin over the fact it's become a franchise. It's similar to my shock of eating Halal Guys at a store for the first time. The digs feel as foreign (prices, large, clean and bright interior) as it does familiar (taste, logo, etc.). Even though I had a laugh seeing the wall photo-mural of a Shah's cart in Times Square, I did appreciate the nod to Ozone Park with the 121st & Liberty street signs. The chicken + lamb combo platter ($12) is and always will be the winner. The lamb had the same kind of seasoning that most Halal spots out here try to replicate but can never get right. The rice was fluffy, and the white sauce was easily the highlight. I can understand why they've decided to bottle it up and sell it as liquid gold. It makes every meal better. Kofta ($12) and chapli ($13) are rarely my favorites, but I knew I had both in platter form. The addition of adding chickpeas and these other salads is not something I'm used to from the carts (#2) but I loved the fact it was drowned in the white sauce with a dash of hot sauce. The latter is supposedly extremely hot, but I didn't find it that spicy. While I have to say the cheeseburger was a bit of a disappointment (overly bready, thin patty), the pakora chips and french fries were fabulous. They were perfectly seasoned, had a nice crisp, and frankly would be an excellent, gut-busting addition to any platter. I don't love the extra charge, but I hope they remain consistent with it. This store location in Westchase along Westheimer is an up and coming part of town. There are numerous Middle Eastern businesses in the adjacent area, along with an abundance of parking spots and a good amount of late night activity. Service was friendly but I do hope they keep their standards up. As time goes on, I'm 100% convinced this will be a destination for the many late night meal seekers and fans of NY nostaligia. __________ (#1) Which automatically supersedes a lot of the ones here in Houston. Just keeping it real. (#2) Is the chickpeas a Houston thing? Genuinely curious.
