They have a great kitchen and wish we had more days to try everything on the menu.

As we entered to the restaurant, we were shown to our seats by the most friendly of staff, who took our coats, before we settled.. I think we were extremely lucky to get seated in all honesty as most of the tables were pre-booked. So, we sat down to enjoy our meal, the service was excellent, i have never had my needs anticipated in so many ways. The staff new the menu and could recommend the food. And there was a synergy between the servers, yes we had more than one it seemed, a warmness and a genuine interest in your happiness. Everyone one of the servers smiled! The Penne Arrabbiata was extremely tasty but a bit on he mild side in terms of tasting the chilli's, though still very good you could taste the use of fresh ingredients. The Crème brûlée was amazing, I haven't seen it done right in many a restaurant I have been too, but this one done to perfection. The coffee, was fabulous, though at this point in the night it was kind of expected. The only downside I could possibly think of , that to be honest doesn't denigrate the experience in anyway, was the bathroom, though it was clean and well tended. A most wonderful experience, if I am ever back in Stratford upon Avon I certainly will book to ensure I get to taste the delightful ambiance of Sorrento's again.

Butterflied King Prawns in garlic. These were simply the best succulent King Prawns I have eaten in such a long time. Seriously. My Pa went for Cannelloni with ricotta and spinach and thought it wonderful. I went for the Lobster and seafood linguine special. It came with King Prawns but of the variety I'd expect which tend to be disappointing. The Lobster wasn't that extraordinary either. The atmosphere is okay but I'm sure in the evening and at weekends the place feels more lively. We asked for some pieces of bread to soak up the juices of the starters and found we got charged £2 something which I thought was somewhat steep for a couple of pieces of bread but they removed the charge without complaint so good on them for that. House wine is fine.

It is a little crowded inside the restaurant when it is full, as the tables are close together, but in some ways this does lend more of an atmosphere to the place. It wasn't in York or in London. It was here in Il Bertorelli in Stratford. It was here and now its been twice. It is my second visit i feel is more worthy of mentioning, the food we ordered was more adventurous to me (the pizzas are of course top notch as are the brochette i had on my first outing but still). The vegetarian options here are exemplary and the mussels were delightful (made better by whatever addition it was they made to the garlic sauce!). the restaurant had an outside courtyard had we been interested and some really nice "almost hidden away" corner tables for those more intimate meals. I felt like i didn't break the bank, even on the wine which was also really nice (and entirely down to our attentive waitress who walked me through what i should be picking by taste). Situated just beyond the main road down to the rive it is perfect place to start late or finish early. Definitely worth a visit.

The interior at the front isn't the most enticing, but we were seated quickly, and staff were very efficient. We were provided with free tap water. To start, we had a mixed side salad (£4.95) and my partner had a salmon fish cake (£7.65). Both were very nice. (A well-dressed side salad is a good test of a restaurant in my opinion.) We then each had a pizza; my partner had a double pepperoni pizza, and I had the courgette and goats cheese pizza open (both £14.45). Both came with standard, thin bases, which were crispy without being tough. The courgette and goat cheese pizza was particularly nice, as it also came with mushrooms, peppers, olives, and pesto. It was one of the nicest pizzas I've had in some time. My partner said his pizza was good, but a different choice might have been more interesting. But both pizzas were very filling. (I'm not sure I could have managed the larger version, £2 extra.) Together with two low-alcohol lagers, and 10% service, the total bill came to just under £57. We thought this was very good value, and we would very happily return.

I say the service is normally outstanding, as the last time I went, though they were not overly busy, they acted like they were doing us a favour in providing us with a table and then proceeded to try to rush us to order. We then waited for over 25 minutes to get our food, and had barely finished when the plates were whipped away from in front of us and the bill presented (it was middle of the afternoon on a Saturday, so they were not preparing to close). On all previous visits though the service has been exemplary and the staff members friendly and happy in their work. I will need to go again to see if the bad experience was a one off or is now the norm

We prebooked the Christmas special, which was 3 courses, an AB, and a couple of drinks included. It was busy, but service was very slow. Our whole meal lasted 2 hours when it really shouldn't have. The tartine starter was quite good but my scallops not so much. The sauce was good, shrimp inside was good, but the scallops didn't taste fresh. After an agonizing 30 minutes after, we finally received our mains - beef Wellington. The beef was dry and overcooked, literally had to dunk in the sauce 3x before you could eat it. The pastry surrounding it was cold and borderline soggy. Effectively, the dish wasn't hot so why did it take so long to come out? The beef was accompanied by some oddly fixed flavorless salad of green beans, kale, and green onion. The side of the cauliflower was delicious. Desserts were ok - two different types of chocolate. Drinks were good. Staff member who served us was very friendly and the staff certainly looked overwhelmed at serving the level of business that day.

The waitress was extremely rude about it. Just scoffed me away. So we are eating, and all of a sudden the restaurant staff starts moving tables right next to us for a large party when they told us they can't accommodate large parties. There were also several large tables in the upstairs dining room that we could have sat at and out of the way from other patrons. Then they start setting out complimentary shots on the table which we also didn't get. Overall, I was extremely displeased by this place. They were so rude and annoying. The glasses were dirty, they forgot several peoples orders, just unacceptable service and the waitress had a horrible attitude.

Perhaps something was wrong with the oven, because I then tried the Funghi de Bosco on a Romana crust, which was not what I would call "crispy," nor was it hot. My partner's American Hot was cool as well. We sent both back to the kitchen for a warm-up, something we really shouldn't have to do at a chain so established as this. The pizza itself, much like the garlic bread, lacked flavor. Dessert was probably the highlight of the experience. My partner and I both ordered from the Dolcetti column of the menu, which includes mini desserts and a coffee. The Mini Chocolate Fudge Cake (really, a chocolate cupcake), was very nice, although ironically, I would have preferred it room-temperature. I was stunned by the number of families with loud, obnoxious children here on a Thursday night in April. While I find most children to be adorable, there are only so many renditions of "Happy Birthday" I can take, and the two-year-old at the table next to ours was determined to set the record. Our waitress was not what I would call "attentive," and so we had to flag other waitresses throughout the evening for additional glasses of wine or water, and for the check later on. The building itself, however, is very attractive. I wish the restaurant had seated us on the second level, which seemed much quieter and offered a lovely view. Overall, not the best Pizza Express I've experienced.
