They have a nice wine list featuring European wines. The gin is plentiful, and they offer gin tastings. We enjoyed delicious gin and tonics on both nights, including those using Cotswolds Gin! On our second night we ate at the restaurant. We arrived early, around 5 pm, after a day of traveling around the Cotswolds. We had a drink and then said we'd love to come back in an hour to have dinner - they said that was no problem (and this is a bank holiday)! We wandered off to a pub down the street (Eight Bells), which was suggested by the waitstaff. We had a great time having a glass of wine there, where we mixed with locals and visitors from near and far. We returned to the Bistro, which was pretty much full - except one table! They had held our table back, with three settings for dinner. We shared excellent food (and more g&ts!) including classic egg pasta with shaved truffle (yum!), the avocado and egg salad, and a side of lovely, buttered green beans. Overall, the meal has been the highlight meal of my trip to the England. The staff was fun, hardworking, and really made us feel welcome, even if the majority of the guests were "stiff upper lips" in regards to us having a fun time. If I return to Chipping Campden, I'm staying at this hotel and dining here for sure! A lovely experience!

I had the pork belly which was delicious. My wife had the chicken which was good. My daughters had the orzo dish. It was also good. But for higher prices, I wanted the food to be a step above the others. I do think if you were a gin lover, this might be the place for you. They had many different types of gin and associated cocktails. We are not gin drinkers so that was not a highlight for us. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the dining room, dishes, plating was excellent.

Another wonderful spot that friend's recommended. As they've been before and it's a local spot for…read morethem. When we walked it, it was quite busy as a huge party was occupying a table across from us. A few other guest always dining as well. Not a big place but still very intimate and quite nice. Bar available but not sure if it's full bar. We did have a couple bottles of wine with dinner. Menu, straight to the point. Tapas and more tapas. As there was couple of us, we all chose three dishes to share. Each all looked amazing. The prawns, chorizo, mussels, meatballs, hummus, sun dried tomatoes salad, mushrooms, fried halloumi sticks, the skewers, pate, avocado toast, and croquettes. Everything was really good apart from it being slightly different from the states. The only downside, the skewer were a bit dry but presented beautifully. Everything was quite tasty and plenty to share for what we've ordered. Mussels were quite tasty in the sauce, chorizo was really good. Pate was more of sliced meat versus a spread. Service was great, staff was really friendly and chatty which was great. They ended the night for us with a little cocktail shot which was quite nice. Overall, amazing service, food was great, atmosphere was nice and friendly. Will definitely return.

First chance to check out this relatively new local venue in…read moremy local village and it was a huge hit. Small, friendly, a nice location just off the main shopping area, reasonably priced and generous portions. The food was delicious and worth venturing over for whether you are local or not! We had crisp halloumi, spiced aubergine with minced lamb, chilli peppered squid, pork belly and chips, a lovely crisp Pinot Grigio (my friend's a white drinker) and a couple of liqueur coffees. All this for £30 a head including a tip. The staff were efficient, attentive and charming. Young and energised, I loved the way all the front of house staff presented one table with a birthday dessert and sang with evident delight to the guest. We were made to feel very welcome despite booking a late table and the arrival of a large party of blokes who'd evidently been out for a Christmas get together added to the very European feel of this little gem. We'll be back

Cosies Wine Bar has a few different faces. It's located in stateley Portland Square, and during the…read moreday it maintains a quite respectable face. At this time it pulls in office workers and other up-standing member of society sorts. They have a good lunch menu, and the place could pass as a reasonably high end restaurant. Things degenerate (or improve, depending on your point of view) as night draws in. Cosies is also a night club and dubstep, afrobeat, and hip-hop nights, along with various others. Very cool in the evenings, this is about a million miles from Syndicate et al. not so far away in the centre. The different between the its night and day time faces is quite a contrast and makes Cosies worth two visits. Down in a basement, it has a cosy feel to match its name. The best time to vist in the day time is when its a bit cold and damp. During the evening just make sure to get there early to avoid disappointment.

There seem to be a few places around Bristol that have a bit of a cavey feeling, due to their…read morebasement locations. Cosies is another place to the trend, situated in the basement of one of the grand Georgian houses in St Pauls' Portland Square. It's open all day and night, catering to the office workers of the square in the daytime, and turning into one of Bristol's in-the-know clubs as night falls. Some of the best djs can be found playing here, spanning genres from Dub and Reggae to Drum'n'Bass and hip hop. The seats outside, carved out beneath the pavement, are maybe where the place gets its name from, as there's a really great 'cosy' atmosphere in one of those seating hubs. As a result, it makes for quite a smokers paradise, and there's definitely a hint of a few blind eyes being turned. Walking past in the day there's always a board offering some sort of exotic food (always below a fiver, so good value), proving a real temptation to descend the rickety stairs mid-afternoon. Also, there's late evening grub on offer to help the pints go down, the last time I was there goat curry was being sold around 11. You might have to pay a few pounds to get in on a weekend, but I'd safely guarantee you'll have a night worth remembering.
