Lambs seems to be a higher-end choice on the Shakespeare trail, and it seems to be one of the better ones. The restaurant is just beautiful inside and out, and it's a great place to sit to try a beer by the Shakespeare Brewing Co. The starters are so pretty! The Gratin of Hand-dived Scallops is served right inside the shell with salt and some citrus. There are some small fried fish on the set menu, and they taste slightly briny and very fresh. The Cornish Crab Scotch Egg is perfectly soft-boiled. It looks small, but it's very dense and heavy. I can't not try the lamb, and I really liked the Herb-Crusted Rack of New Season English Lamb. It's medium-rare pink and juicy, and the side of creamy potatoes and green beans is comfort food all the way. A lovely lunch. The food is rich for when you're craving something hearty and filling, but they also serve market-fresh seafood if you're looking for something lighter. I don't know much about the other dining options in Stratford-Upon-Avon, but I am quite satisfied with Lambs.

Delicious meal, excellent service and a lovely setting for Sunday supper. It's hard to find a good restaurant without a reservation here, so we felt fortunate to dine Lambs Restaurant. Highly recommend the skirt steak and the salmon.

The food here was great! I ordered the grilled halloumi for appetizer. This was extremely salty and kind of squeaky... but I think that is the nature of the cheese. It went well with the bread but I had to wash it down with a lot of water. The chicken for main course was extremely flavorful and tender. One of the better chicken dishes that I've had at a restaurant. Would recommend! The dessert was also very special. Rosé jello with berries inside. The jello was perfectly sweetened and you get the flavor of the sweet wine. Kind of took me back to the college Jell-O shot days, but way classier. Would also recommend this dish!

    Chicken liver parfait

Very disappointing experience. I was very excited to go to this restaurant but the food was bland and a bit tasteless. I started with the chicken Liver parfait with onion jam. Not strong onion taste from the jam. Parfait was well made but needed something to lift it. Followed it with mussels with frites. The mussels were well cooked but the cream sauce had no taste of garlic or onion... very poor. Also my frites were overcooked and a lot of the soaking in oil. Dessert was Eton mess. A bowl of purple gunge! I love dessert and I left most of it. So not happy. Btw the service was really average

Lunchtime and only have 40m before the Shakespeare's tour. Pleasantly surprised by this lovely restaurant, first thing I have to mention, staff service is exceptional, friendly and checking in every now and then without feeling annoyed. Ordered lamb shank and a glass of house red. Lamb was perfectly cooked, I did feel that the gravy sauce was the weakest link wishing it to be thicker and bolder in flavor but that's more a personal preference.

We love Yelp because of places like Lambs. We stopped in Stratford-Upon-Avon for great theatre and followed with a visit to Lambs, just across the road and around the corner from the Royal Shakespeare Company. This restaurant caters well for show times with ample seating and quick, excellent service in a beautiful space. We started with delicious grilled haloumi and tender, perfectly cooked salt and pepper squid followed by possibly the best calves liver with pancetta and crispy fried shallot we have ever had. You may note multiple mentions of the sticky toffee pudding in reviews for this restaurant; it's for the very good reason that it is really, really tasty. Highly recommended place to enjoy.

Feeling a little swanky at it but still, cheaper than most of the traditional pubs surrounding it, a good area to get up and strut your stuff, and close enough the other aspects of "nightlife" in town (not to mention close to bed if you've opted for one of the travel lodges). No.1 felt like the perfect start to an active stratford night. Now i wouldn't normally review a place i had spent such a small amount of time in (without much of a yelp head on for it either - no food, no carefully laid tests for the staff). But one act from the staff compels me: We were walking into town, unsure where would be open, it was really very late. Two intimidating looking bouncers are stood outside No1 (as is their job). We pause across the road, wondering at a country bar that needs bouncers like that, i was about to walk on when they bellowed, "don't worry its nice in here, come on over!" Both with beaming smiles, one walked us in and pointed us to a good spot to sit and the other instructed my friend as to where to smoke (out the front it seemed was less windy that night). I was amazed, to be honest i'm used to bouncers being short tempered and sometimes pretty brash with you (thats just part of city life!). This is the first review i've penned where the security made a place worth visiting for me, well done guys!!

After being turned away from 2 restaurants we found a good meal at Edward Moon. My meal... Appetizer: Crab/shrimp cocktail. It was covered in mayo (ick!) and therefore inedible. Don't order unless you're a mayo fan. Entrée: Seabass. Covered in lots of cream, but fortunately I liked this cream sauce a lot more than I like mayo. It was also served on a bed of spring onion risotto, which was even better than the actual seabass. Dessert: The Americans at the table decided on apple pie- go figure. While the one Brit at the table decided on some sort of banana pie. Both desserts were equally incredible, but the real winner of the evening was the hot chocolate with irish bailey. By far the best hot chocolate I've ever had....and it helped me sleep like a baby on the train going back to London right after our meal.

Lunch is served. Pleasantly greeted and brought to a table by the window, where we could watch the world walk by as we enjoyed our meal. A nice list of specials on the blackboard, plus a "special" menu with the regular menu. My traveling companion opted for the scampi, which was cooked in the English style of a breaded fish nugget and served with chips. I went with the two course meal, choosing a pate and relish starter and a burger as my main. The pate was quite strong and the relish cut it well. The burger was a bit on the plain side as were the chips. No draught beers, but they did have a reasonable selection of bottled offerings. I chose the Leffe, a Belgian favorite. The prices were decent, especially considering this is a fancy sit-down restaurant on the 'main drag' of Shakespeare's village.

The bistro is in a grade II listed building and is located only two minutes walk from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre so right in the bustling town centre. The furnishings are plush and comfortable with an array of different seating with soft cushions and there is a bar located next to the dining area - a great place to meet for pre dinner drinks. We were seated immediately and were given a few moments to pursue the menu. We ordered afternoon tea at £10.50 per head which included salmon and cucumber sandwiches, scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream, victoria sandwich cake, and a pot of tea. The tea was lovely and very filling but I would have liked to have seen something else other than victoria sandwich cake as it felt like cream and jam overkill having that part of the scones too. The waitress service was friendly and attentive, and although we spent a couple of hours there I did not feel like we had to rush and vacate our table. If you have eaten or drunk a little too much, you can retire to one of their twelve ensuite bedrooms. A lovely bistro that I would happily return to again.

Making a refreshing change from ye olde pubs, the Oppo is a modern French bistro with a good a la carte menu and a generous daily specials menu too. When we arrived, at about 5pm, they were nearly full already with a pre-theatre crowd (we were going too), but were able to give us a table in an area near the back, which was lovely and private. We only had time to stay for a main course, but if I was in the area again I'd happily try starters and puddings too. My boyfriend ordered the pork belly from the a la carte, which looked delicious, and I went for the large portion of moules mariniere avec frites. To my pleasant surprise there was not a single closed mussel in the bowl, and not even any that you had to really pry open. Every one had opened beautifully. And they were priced very reasonably too, the pork belly was about £13.75 and the moules were a snip at less than £9. Fab! The Oppo is a great choice for a pre-theatre meal in Stratford-upon-Avon, so much better than many of the pubs in the area for similar prices. But you should book if you can, it's very popular and you really don't want to miss out.
