As we entered to the restaurant, we were shown to our seats by the most friendly of staff, who took our coats, before we settled.. I think we were extremely lucky to get seated in all honesty as most of the tables were pre-booked. So, we sat down to enjoy our meal, the service was excellent, i have never had my needs anticipated in so many ways. The staff new the menu and could recommend the food. And there was a synergy between the servers, yes we had more than one it seemed, a warmness and a genuine interest in your happiness. Everyone one of the servers smiled! The Penne Arrabbiata was extremely tasty but a bit on he mild side in terms of tasting the chilli's, though still very good you could taste the use of fresh ingredients. The Crème brûlée was amazing, I haven't seen it done right in many a restaurant I have been too, but this one done to perfection. The coffee, was fabulous, though at this point in the night it was kind of expected. The only downside I could possibly think of , that to be honest doesn't denigrate the experience in anyway, was the bathroom, though it was clean and well tended. A most wonderful experience, if I am ever back in Stratford upon Avon I certainly will book to ensure I get to taste the delightful ambiance of Sorrento's again.

We asked for some pieces of bread to soak up the juices of the starters and found we got charged £2 something which I thought was somewhat steep for a couple of pieces of bread but they removed the charge without complaint so good on them for that. It wasn't in York or in London. It was here in Il Bertorelli in Stratford. It was here and now its been twice. It is my second visit i feel is more worthy of mentioning, the food we ordered was more adventurous to me (the pizzas are of course top notch as are the brochette i had on my first outing but still). The vegetarian options here are exemplary and the mussels were delightful (made better by whatever addition it was they made to the garlic sauce!). the restaurant had an outside courtyard had we been interested and some really nice "almost hidden away" corner tables for those more intimate meals. I felt like i didn't break the bank, even on the wine which was also really nice (and entirely down to our attentive waitress who walked me through what i should be picking by taste). Situated just beyond the main road down to the rive it is perfect place to start late or finish early. Definitely worth a visit.

The tartine starter was quite good but my scallops not so much. The sauce was good, shrimp inside was good, but the scallops didn't taste fresh. After an agonizing 30 minutes after, we finally received our mains - beef Wellington. The beef was dry and overcooked, literally had to dunk in the sauce 3x before you could eat it. The pastry surrounding it was cold and borderline soggy. Effectively, the dish wasn't hot so why did it take so long to come out? The beef was accompanied by some oddly fixed flavorless salad of green beans, kale, and green onion. The side of the cauliflower was delicious. Desserts were ok - two different types of chocolate. Drinks were good. Staff member who served us was very friendly and the staff certainly looked overwhelmed at serving the level of business that day.
