My tech refused to listen to me and flat out told me no when I told her I wanted my nails shorter. Many of the nails are crooked and I did not want the color for the ombré she chose/forced upon me. Plus they charge an extra $20 to put some gel top coat on at the end. The pedicure was good while I was there, but the gel polish started peeling off as soon as I got home. Spent $160 and they didn't even trim a cuticle. Depends on who you get here, but my tech was rude and told me I was overthinking it when I told her I couldn't do my job with my nails that length. Came to get pampered for my bachelorette party with my girlfriends. I decided to get only a manicure since my pedicure was still fresh, but sat with my girls in the pedi chairs. They were offered drinks, I was not. My stylist started scraping at my toes and didn't acknowledge me when I told her to stop and tried to pull my foot away. When I finally got another stylists attention by raising my voice she asked me "why didn't you say something". My stylist didn't speak or understand any English or cues. They attempted to add clear coat on top of my now scraped gel polish, which obviously didn't match my other foot. They were irritable that I requested they redo my entire color on all toes at this point. They ended up just adding 1 coat of a different color to all my toes. I eventually got my manicure with gel polish, a cut pinky and sympathy, understanding or discount. I did however get a cucumber water, eventually. I now sit by the door waiting on my SIL to get finished up and I watch stylists or maybe even managers walk around and mingle with customers, ask how their service was, and even take/bring their cards back to them. Previous Experience: I've been to Zizi's on two occasions now, the first time I felt extremely rushed and wasn't impressed with my manicure. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because it was a Saturday. Although I did not love the service or the quality I did not complain thinking I would come back based on the other reviews and have a completely different experience... The wait: I returned today to celebrate a Friend's birthday on a weekday in the middle of the day (about 2PM). We waited about 20 minutes before there was someone available to start our pedicures which honestly didn't bother me much because I was not in a rush. (If you are, maybe try making an appointment.) Terrible Logistics: One thing that immediately stood out to me was that unlike most current day salons there is not a shelf on the wall with all of the polishes in color or brand coordinated rows. There was not even a semi-related colors/shade coordination on the little table stand to make picking a color easily and effortless. Instead, there is a square rack that does not rotate on 1 table so you can't easily view the polish options unless no one else is looking at them. There is also a second little 18x18 rack on the bar that holds random colors and brands... I guess for the price point, location, and interior of the salon I felt like there would be a more efficient and customer-friendly way to making selections. The prices were not posted or made clear, The staff didn't say more than five words to us over the hour that we were there, and the service was subpar. I guess what I'm trying to say is, unless you happen to be eating at McAllister and don't want to drive to an new parking spot... there are several other options in the Highlands that I would consider before returning here. I gave a two star review because although the service and product left a lot to be desired, at least it was a clean establishment. read more

They really stayed true to their title. The other Yelpers raved about the chairs. Mine was a little broken so It didn't really relax me. It kept doing its own thing which was frustrating. I asked for a french manicure and it was ok. I had to tell her to fix it a few times because the white polish she was using kept streaking. She was a good sport about it so I left a happy camper. My manicurist was very sweet but man I do not like my nails. I chose the "gel" shellac type manicure and have seen it before on others - very cute right? Wrong. At least for me. I have frequented Zizi's since it first opened, and I have always enjoyed my experiences. I went on 4/25/2010, and I chose a Pomegranate and something pedicure. Sonny was my pedicurist, and boy, oh boy, would I recommend him! He put extra strength behind those callouses on each foot! He scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed....oh, I'm revealing too much about my footsies. Anyway, I will choose him the next time I'm in. What disturbed me this time was the cleanliness of the place. Granted it was a busy Sunday around 3 in the afternoon, but the place was filthy. The floor was nasty, the table next to my chair was disgusting, and the bathroom needed a deep cleaning. Nail salons must be sanitary establishments in every aspect, not just the utensils used on the nails. While I am pleased to see clean instruments used by each customer, I want to see that same care used in the shop as a whole. I will go back to Zizi's, and I will take my time looking around to see if they've cleaned up their act. I sure hope so because Sonny needs to have another "date" with these callouses! read more

I went there today with a friend to get a pedicure and I have to say it was a great experience. Their salon was very clean, the equipment was new (granted, they are relatively new anyway...). Apparently, you don't just get options of the usual pedicure or spa pedicure. They literally have a book. Like a menu of sorts of all kinds of different types of pedicures you can get. You know that feeling when you have too many options you have absolutely no idea what to pick. So you are the asshole customer that just makes your server coming back to see if you have made up you mind? This was like so. I had their Frappacino massage. It costed me $40 (I gave her a $6 tip on top of that). The pedicure lasted an hour. $40 and an hour gave me: my cuticles tended (it was a jungle down there), a nail trim, a sloughing of my calluses, a scrub that smelled like coffee (how can you hate the smell of coffee?), a moisturizer that didn't smell like coffee, a parrafin wrap/dip thingy, a massage, polish (and the good stuff too - Essie and OPIs) and a actual drinkable frappacino. And I have to say, for a non coffee shop, it was actually, pretty darn good. So I say the $40 was well worth it. I would definately recommend this to my friends who need a little pampering more so than the usual pedicure that lasts 30 minutes. read more

I came in from out of town and took some family there as a Christmas present. They had a good time. Unfortunately, mine was not as good. The guy who did my nails, I think his name was Tony, didn't get close to my cuticles when painting so it looked like it had already grown out a week. I asked him to get closer and then the edges turned out horrible and wobbly. He didn't even try to clean up the polish that had gotten on my skin. The biggest issue was that they had a coupon on their website, "15% off of any services valued at $60 and up!" which they refused to take. They said it was only for any ONE service that was 60 or more. No where on the coupon did it say only valid for one service but it does say services, plural and they refused to honor it. The people I were with enjoyed it, were treated well. The ladies that worked on them did a great job and that's why I gave two stars. If it was just me it would have been zero stars. read more

I would gladly pay to just put my feet in the warm water and enjoy the massage chair for an hour...but they also happen to do the best manicures and pedicures in town. I used to think I could only get a good, fast manicure that would last in NYC. I don't know why, but a $10 Manhattan manicure always blew away anything I ever got anywhere else. Until...the shellac mani/pedi from Zi Zi. Wow. I came out of the salon feeling like I had spent the day at he spa and 1 full week later, even after trip to the beach, the shellac mani/pedi is still perfect. No chips, no cracks - perfect. Worth every penny. Tip: KidsPark hourly childcare is on the other side of the Arlington Highlands. You have to pay membership fee, but don't need reservations which makes it super easy to treat the kids to playtime and yourself to some much needed pampering.
