Basket of fresh made pita bread, beef hummus dip
    Helen L.

I think this has become a very popular restaurant. Everybody leaves with a to go box. Except this gentleman, who ate his lamb shank and left. He didn't eat his salad. This time I had chicken Shawarma wrap. It was huge. Ate half only. Full of chicken. I didn't like their coleslaw, too much mayo. They also gave me condiment mayo. I don't mind sour cream, but don't like mayo. Water is at the table. Order at the counter and get a number. Fund your own seat. Food is brought out in no time. I tasted my friend's hummus and it was delicious. We asked for a sample of baba ganoush and it was generous. They are so nice. Friend got baba ganoush to go. Love their pillowy pita bread. Freshly baked and served in cute weaved baskets.

Great Mediterranean food and a cute vibe. Order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. Lots of options from tapas to wraps to full plates. Portions are large.

We just had a lovely dinner at Zitouna! The ambiance is like a classy, yet casual cafe where you order and pay for your meal at the cashier, then they give you a number to display on the table. In front, you'll see a few desserts displayed like baklava and Turkish delights. The service by the owner (Nobel) was warm, welcoming, and friendly. *** O U R P I C K S *** 4 D I P P L A T T E R ~ **Labneh & olives ~ a thick, tangy, and creamy Middle Eastern strained yogurt with olives, drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with za'atar/spices. Ultra rich, creamy and delicious! 5/5 **Mechwia ~ seasoned roasted peppers, ripe tomatoes, minced garlic, and finely chopped onions. Yum! This one was good too. It's like a bell pepper dip. I believe it's a Tunisian specialty. 5/5 **Babaganoush ~ roasted eggplant blended with tahini, garlic, and a touch of lemon. This is a dip that I order quite frequently at other restaurants. It was tasty, smoky, tangy, and on point! 5/5 **shakshuka ~ spiced tomato sauce with peppers, onions, and a blend of herbs served warm. This too was an enjoyable dip! Tomato sauce had a sweetness. Another yummy Tunisian dip! 5/5 Each had its own unique flavor, so it made for a good variety. And it was delicious with warm pita bread! T A B B O U L E H ~ Finely chopped parsley, mint, tomatoes, onion, and bulgur wheat dressed with lemon juice and olive oil. This was a herbaceous salad with a citrusy dressing! It was quite tear jerking tart, but we still liked it and ate it with the other dips and pita bread. 4.5/5 C H I C K E N S H A W A R M A P L A T E ~ My friend ordered this dish and liked it. Chicken was tender and juicy. Rice was fluffy and done right. Salad was fresh and zesty. 5/5 M I X E D S H A W A R M A P L A T E ~ Marinated lamb and beef, tender chicken and flavorful kofte. My guy ordered this and enjoyed the variety of different meats cooked perfectly. He's hard to please, but really liked his entree. That's saying something! 5/5 L A M B S H A N K ~ I ordered this and almost ate everything! I usually don't eat this much but couldn't help myself tonight! The lamb shank was delightfully soft and off the bone! Seasoned and cooked where you barely taste the gaminess. Just the way I like it! 5/5 Their food was excellent, well executed, and truly memorable! Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food presented before us. If I had room, I would have ordered dessert too, but I was stuffed! We'll definitely make our way back to Zitouna again soon!

Not sure where to start. My wife and I were out on a long walk building up an appetite in Sunset Dunes when we decided to look for some Mediterranean food and found this on the map. I gotta say, we were very pleased! The food was fresh and different from the common dishes you find elsewhere in the city. We got the fried cauliflower which surprised the hell out us. They were not deep fried and overly battered, they were lightly fried on the outside, crispy and soft on the inside with great zesty flavor! The spicy hummus was flavorful with a drizzle of high quality olive oil. The pita is soft and lightly toasted, goes really well with the hummus. I don't think you'll be disappointed with anything on the menu... I wasn't. Finally, great people working the restaurant. Had a great chat with the owner. Like all my other favorite restaurants in the city, I love when the owners take the time to meet the customers. You feel the community.

Love this place!! Easy order at the counter restaurant with lovely staff. Must get any of the dishes with the halloumi, try as many dips as you can, and order family style!! The portions are large and leave you full. The ambiance in the restaurant does make it more casual vs date night fancy.

A great spot for a casual Mediterranean lunch! We got the beef and lamb plate and they were nice enough to swap out the regular salad for the tabbouleh salad for us. The portions are super generous and we ended up bringing some home. It's order at the counter and seat yourself style inside the restaurant.

First time eating here. Food is scrumptious and the price is unbeatable! Will come back again and try other dishes. Ordered the beets tapa and chicken shawarma plate. Don't expect full service dining tho. You have to order at the counter, and there is no dedicated waiter or waitress. Ambience is relaxing and bright. Restaurant is clean.

This restaurant is absolutely amazing. Take it from a person that services 2,500+ restaurants and has eaten at many over the course of 3 decades in SF. It easily ranks Top 50 of all time in any cuisine and quite possibly Top 25. I would even rank it against an upscale restaurant that requires a jacket to seat. The ambiance is vibrant and very clean. Their service is always met with a genuine kindness. Their shawarma plates are great and the shawarma salads are enormous! They can easily feed two people or save half for later. One dish I want to emphasize is the mechwia dip. The way they combine these ingredients to be so flavorful makes this such a good dish, I sometimes come just for this dip if I'm in the area. Great people and menu. It should definitely be on your to try list.

What a find! Terrific food - huge portions especially for the price - lovely service. Will be my new go-to when meeting city friends.

We went to Zitouna on kind of a gloomy evening. Zitouna felt very homey and was very well decorated + clean. I got the chicken plate, and the food was good. It wasn't super flavorful, but it was still tasty. I am not sure if I would go back, but it was still a pleasant experience.

This place is amazing! Had a reservation for 7 and they were very accommodating. You order at the register and the service is incredibly friendly. The food came out quickly and was so flavorful. Their portions are very generous. I was surprised how big their salads were, but also tasty. Food came out very quickly! Just about every dish we ordered was solid. I captured a picture of a few things we ordered. Here are all the things we ordered (* next to some of my favorites): - Kofta meatballs - Hummus lamb shawarma - Zahra (cauliflower)* - deep fried, savory, so good. - Fattet batenjen* - Hummus* - super smooth! - Babaganoush* - Ful* - Mechwia - would pass next time - Flatbread* - would pass on the meat one, but the zataar, cheese, and spinach flatbread were good! - Street fries with beef* - like better MCD fries topped with tasty beef! - Zitouna salad* - huge salad and flavorful - Kofta salad* - ^ - Shashuka - Mujadra - Falafel plate - falafel has solid texture, lacks a bit in the spices - Mixed shawarma plate*

Ana made this place a must-return. First time here and we were blown away starting with the service. Ana was exceptional. She made us feel genuinely welcomed from the moment we sat down, checked in on us throughout, and brought a warmth that's rare to find. Best service we've had in the city. And the food? The chicken shawarma was a 10/10. Will absolutely be coming back. All 5 of us REALLY enjoyed the food!

Absolutely incredible! The food is absolutely delicious, full of flavor, excellent portions, and the presentation is beautiful on every plate! The restaurant itself is gorgeous with light & airy decor & fun pops of color. It's a great place to enjoy time with the family. The staff was nothing short of phenomenal- they're extremely attentive to guests, and the overall experience. This is absolutely one of my new favorite places to eat in the city!

Even with a baby in tow, the staff was super friendly and accommodating, bringing hot water super quickly for warming a bottle and carefully selecting seating that accommodated our stroller. The menu is relatively small, but also very diverse with a variety of protein options and some vegetarian selections. Since it's served tapas/family style, you get to try a ton of the menu. Everything we had was delicious and very balanced. Even with a super low spice tolerance, the heat in all the dishes was not just tolerable, but even delicious. I think the dish I'd most recommend is the pork shank. Everything about it was super surprising and incredibly delicious. It literally fell off the bone and had a ton of texture with a melty, tender inside and a sticky, crunchy exterior. I would eat just this for a whole meal! Despite my own dislike for goat, even the goat empanadas were good and managed to convince me I don't actually hate all goat meat! Much like the menu, the ambiance is perfectly balanced, perfect for a romantic date night, a business meeting and even for a friend/family dinner. I'd highly recommend Valley Goat for anyone, for any occasion.

Even before this most recent visit, I'd enjoyed intimate dinners here for its creative, Korean-Thai-inspired menu that always packed an impressive punch of flavor but, dare I say, the brunch might be even better. The steak sandwich was absolutely phenomenal, with the steak seasoned and cooked to perfection and pairing beautifully with the charred onion aioli, plus a side of expertly crisped smashed potatoes that were so addicting. The steamed mussels were sumptuous and packed with umami, and I loved the two large bricks of toasted sourdough focaccia that were perfect for sopping up every last bit of the delicious dashi broth. But the pièce de résistance was the custard French toast, which I can only describe as the love child of bread pudding and tres leches cake as it was crispy on the outside but uber moist on the inside, custardy, and simply divine. Kothai will be deeply missed in the neighborhood, but I'm excited to see what's next for chef/owner Sung Park and will be first in line for whatever future project comes next.
