If you need dry cleaning done quickly, they are incredibly efficient and the turnaround time is fast. Unfortunately, the customer service is nonexistent. On my first visit, I walked up to the counter with my receipt in hand and the employee just stared at the screen without saying a word. No greeting, no "can I help you," nothing. After standing there awkwardly for a while, I finally asked if he needed my receipt. Only then did he ask for my phone number to look up my order. It was a pretty ridiculous interaction. Another downside is parking. The lot gets very busy and congested, especially during rush hour, which makes getting in and out more frustrating than it needs to be. I had a disappointing experience at this location. When I walked in, no one acknowledged me, which immediately set a negative tone. I wanted to try the self-checkout for pickup to minimize interaction, but when I asked a simple question about whether it could be used for pickups, my question was ignored. What can I say about Zips that hasn't already been said?? If you are lucky enough to have a Zips in your neighborhood then good for you. I am one of the lucky ones. I've been a customer of Zips since the 90s. So when Zips arrived in Southern Maryland several years ago, I was certainly happy to see their arrival. They are quick, pretty thorough and the price is extremely reasonable. The reason I chose to write this review at this time is due to the above and beyond level of customer service I recently received. However, before I speak to that, let me first talk about their service in general. The Waldorf Zips team has always been friendly, personable, helpful and efficient. For years, the staff consisted of mostly super nice, and helpful women, but here lately, I've noticed more young men joining the team, particularly the front line crew. I never really gave it much thought. It was just an observation. So back to what brought about this review. Recently, I had a huge pile of clothes to clean. As always, dropping them off was quick and efficient, but as you know, if you drop off a huge pile, you will pick up a huge pile. Because Zips is a same day service provider as long as your drop-off occur before 9am. So later that day, I was back to collect what seemed like 40 hangers of clothes. The young man "JR" assisted me. Once he hung my items at the register for release, I realized there were too many to carry out all at once. I grabbed half the items, informed JR that I would be right back, and headed out to the car. To my surprise, while handing the items in the car, the young man 'JR' was right behind me with the rest of my clothes. I was literally shocked at this level of customer service provided by this young man. Let me be clear. He was not asked or prompted by anyone to help. This young man took the initiative to assist a customer based on his own values. Although the review is 4 stars, which is due to the extremely long lines at various times and the rare occasion when an item is compromised, JR's review is 5Plus stars for sure. Thank you again JR. I'm giving this location 5 stars purely on the customer service. I pulled up to the cleaners and had my baby in a carrier attempting to pull 3 large comforters out of the trunk. I wasn't struggling but before I could get the comforters out of the car, a Zips employee came outside to the car to take the comforters inside. She said she noticed me and that I had a baby with me and came to help me out. She was very pleasant and not only did she take the comforters from my car, she took the clothes I came to pick up to my car. Tam was super helpful and appreciated! here is more info for the zips in waldorf....i have attached the receipts for my two bad experiences. the receipt with the yellow at the top is from the store losing a star and having to sew it back on (see comments on the receipt). LUCKILY, the number of items to be sewn was on the receipt. the receipt with the yellow on the sides is not even written up correctly, for starters. no need to rehash what i already said...in closing, i will just say the 1 star review has more entries than the other reviews combined, at the present time. we all know everyone doesn't go on yelp and rate, but it seems that location needs some strategy refreshing management or something put in place. i don't go to the cleaners to argue with people and have to replenish items that i already supplied at my own expense, time and cost of additional gas/mileage. read more

I try and be considerate because I know people make mistakes but when I specifically ask that my military dress white pants NOT be creased, I expect them not to be creased. I'm frustrated because last year I brought in my dress white pants and they creased those and ruined them so, when I dropped off my recently bought pants (that same day)I specifically asked that these pants NOT be creased. The only reason this review isn't a one star is they offered to press them for free to try and fix it but what happens if the crease doesn't come out, cause when you crease something it usually doesn't go away. I just left Zips in Waldorf, Md. I understand the price point, but I don't expect for them to lose my fiancé suit. We have a wedding for tomorrow and I guess they feel it's okay for him to be in the jacket only and no pants. I came in there at 5:30pm and left at 7:25pm without my order and one of the managers/co-owner Gina ( who I gave the order to that morning) stating I can take the jacket with me. I dropped off three garments last week to have some alterations completed. I met with the seamstress and we agreed on a price. At Zips, you have to pay before you leave the store. The gentleman stated that it would be available in 7 days, Saturday to Saturday. Cool, it would be ready in time for the party. It was a birthday gift for someone. I returned a day early because I didn't need any surprises. Only one item was complete and I was assured again that the other two garments would be ready the next day. Well, I returned the next day and the seamstress told me that he would not complete the other two items until I pay him an additional $30 because I was charged incorrectly. I told him that it wasn't my fault that they charged me incorrectly and I would not pay them an additional $30, that's bad business practice. I was as hot as fish grease. At this point I'm furious. I requested the manger because I wasn't getting anywhere with his incompetent ass. She informed me that she could get him to complete the work within an hour if I paid the additional $30. I respectfully declined and requested a refund for the two item that has not been completed. I promptly took the two items to Waldorf Cleaners at 2535 Old Washington Road, where I have gone in the first place. The nice lady felt bad for me and she gave me a great price. I missed giving the gift to my mother-in-law on her birthday, and because of them, I will never step foot in ZIPS again. Customer Service goes a long way and I wasn't feeling the customer service. ZERO STARS. The last 4-5 times I've requested service, the service didn't meet my request. I wear suits to work every day. I need crisp dress shirts to wear with them. I ask for light starch and creased sleeves every single time I go to Zips. My shirts come back with zero creases and not one fluid ounce of starch. Whether I go to the counter or drop off overnight with written instructions, they just don't do what I ask them to do. It's like they do the exact opposite of what I ask for. I had never been to a ZIPS before. I have seen them other places and I know it is a chain so I decided to give them a try when they opened here. The prices definitely are cheaper than your local mom and pop dry cleaners and I kind of feel bad like maybe they will put some of those out of business. I guess competition is a good thing though. Every laundered item is $1.99 and for dry cleaning it's $2.29 per item. So far I have dry cleaned quite a few of my husband's dress shirts and pants and have been happy with the results. If you like creases in your sleeves though you have to specifically ask for it. So far everyone has been friendly and I have had a great experience with them. They can be busy and sometimes a line has formed of two or three people while I'm there. I have never stood in a line at any other dry cleaner before. They also have a night drop service. I have not used that or asked about it but it seems like it could be convenient if you can't get there at least to drop something off during their business hours. read more

Either make improvements are close this location down! I rarely come to Zips as I don't usually need to have dry cleaning performed on my clothes. So when I do come, best believe it is an article of clothes I need for a special event. My last visit was well over a year ago and I'm sad to say that irs only gotten worse since my last visit! No matter what time of day I come, the line is wrapped around on the inside and there are only 2 people working at the register, when six registers are available! This latest visit I brought my clothes in at 8:55am. Just at the cut off of your slogan In by 9 out by 5? Run......don't walk, as fast as you can in the opposite direction if you need garments tailored. I visited my local Zips in Waldorf to have alterations done on 6 pairs of slacks. A gentleman doing alterations asked me to try on just one pair of slacks and insisted he could hem all of them from the measurement of that one pair. I didn't feel comfortable with that knowing not all pants fall or hang the same way but he assured me it would be fine. Needless to say, only one paired pants, the pair I tried on, was hemmed correctly. The other 5 pair were all cut and hemmed TOO SHORT! After arguing with him, the manager asked me to bring all of the pants back so the problem could be corrected. Of Course It Wasn't. They offered me a sad little credit on my account and told me my pants were ok, according to the man who did the botched alterations. I am now out over $70 for the alterations but hundreds of dollars for the linen slacks that were RUINED. NEVER AGAIN! I have been utilizing zips cleaners for a little while. I purchased their zips cleaners bag for convenience. Yesterday I dropped my clothes off to be cleaned. The guy took the bag and put it on the floor. When I returned today to pick up my clothes after 5 pm. The bag was still sitting on the floor. Clothes not cleaned. He claimed my bag was put in a pile with bags of clients whose cards were declined. My card was not declined. The sales representative didn't even scan the bag when I dropped it off. This is the third incident with this cleaner. Pick up clothes one evening and another consumer's clothes was with my clothes. Unbelievable. Another incident we realized my husband tuxedo pants had some type of white power on the inside lining. We will not be bringing our clothes back to this zips cleaners! I am a loyal customer of the ZIPS in Waldorf on Crain Highway. I typically bring my dry cleaning once a week early on Thursdays or Fridays around 7 am. The entire staff in the early morning is very pleasant and I like to be there when there isn't a long line like the one on the weekends! Tamara in particular makes my mornings. She's very personable, makes a point to address each customer when they walk through the door and let them know she or her colleague will be with them soon. It makes the wait much more manageable. I happened to be there one time when a gentleman had lost an item and it was clearly his second time returning for the garment. No one wanted to deal with him but Tamara did. She took her time speaking to him directly and asking him to 'walk her through' what he had endured until that morning. Then she went through every rack of that huge front waiting area, went in the back and in alterations and finally found the pants he was looking for. It was so nice and he felt so much better. They have lost several of my garments and have done nothing to find them. When I finally did speak to someone they basically told me that everything had been picked up and there was nothing that they could do except file a report. I don't normally write reviews with good or bad service, however I find myself wanting to warn my neighbors about the Zips on 301. lets start with when they opened. I had been going to the Zips in Marlow Heights for several years although I live in Waldorf, if anyone remembers it took them months to open, however when they did I thought it was a god send . I WAS WRONG !!! From my first visit the week they opened, what was supposed to be a 1 day turn around, took them a week to produce my cloughs. I thought, they just opened they are going to have some growing pains. Fast forward now a couple years 1 visit a week. I have had lost belts, to damaged silk blouse, to my husbands pants missing buttons, to a lost unable to find item, ohh and lets not forget being given someone else cloughs. This last visit was the last for me. I took maybe 15 items per usual on a Monday morning on July 12th. I received a message from a Gina on July 14th explaining that a machine had mal-functioned and Greece/Oil had saturated my beige linen dress. That I needed to contact them within the hour if I wanted my dress replaced ? or a store credit issued, as the owners would only be there another hour. Otherwise I would have to wait a month. This call came in at 2:30pm, like most of us I have a job, and it just so happened that I was in a board meeting when the call came in, with no knowledge of it until 4:30pm. When I called to get clarity, Gina's tone was so annoyed, Blount, and inconsiderate. That I went from let me see what can be done, to (Just give me my cloughs. I'm DONE). When you are made to feel that your an interruption of someone's day, or such an annoyance that you don't deserve the time it takes to make right what you did wrong. I used to go to ZIPS in Alexandria, this one in Waldorf is terrible. Two times I have gotten my items back with creases that are in odd places. My pants have a crease pressed into them about an inch an a half from the seam. If they were going to follow the seams and not put a crease that would be ok but this is unacceptable, lack of caring for product being produced! And they still have wrinkles! read more
