I was referred here my John the Owner at Harmony House Music. That gave me confidence in taking my vintage Accordion here for service. Dionne the Owner was fantastic. Her shop is over thirty years old and she knows Accordions. She tested all the keys and explained in detail what she was doing. She gives you the history and explains all details of what may need done and what needs done. She tells you how to store your instruments. The store it self has character much like Dionne who makes you feel like a friend not a customer. I received my accordion back in great working condition. She even wrote out a paper stating it was in excellent condition for it age... incase I decide to sell it. She also said if anybody wanted to talk to her about it they could call her. I would definitely refer people to see Dionne she knows instruments. They have all kinds of instruments in this store. read more

I don't play the guitar but I always had hear about Ziggie's. so one day I just stopped in. I appreciated the owner not treating me like I had an eye in the center of my forehead when I told her the same. I ended up stay for a half hour or more and just chatting. I watched how she interacted with people who came in and knew what they wanted done. Overall it was was really positive considering I didn't understand half of what they were talking about. Ziggie's reminds me of the stores I use to go to where things were personal. You got to know the owner so when you went in, you weren't a stranger. If you play the guitar or a stringed instrument, it is really worth your time to check this store out, I believe. 4 stars instead of five because my whole review is based on just a feeling I got about the store. if I was a guitar person, I believe it would easily be a 5. read more

Ziggies Music has been at 3rd Street south of Osborn since the late 1920's! Yup! Is it an amazing big box, got it all operation? No, not at all. This store is funky and a bit like a thrift store without the prices,literally there are no prices on any of the larger merchandise (guitars,amps etc.) Service is friendly but the store does have the distink odor of kitty cats. I have a Fender Hot Rod Deville that I bought about 10 years ago when I was playing a lot of gigs and traveling. I abused this thing for years, and it has survived several moves, but this last one seemed to do some damage. All the knobs produced noise, both inputs were finicky, and one of the speakers was loose. I found Ziggie's online, and they came highly recommended by some guys on a fender forum. I looked at buying a new amp ($900...), so I had made peace with dropping some serious cash to get this one running again. The amp tech at Ziggie's got my amp running as good as new in about a week, and he only charged me $52! I highly recommend these guys if you need a repair! read more

We spent an hour talking with one of the owners and she was very informative and helpful. My husband was tempted to buy a sweet little accordion but we were on our way to another destination. I took my Fender Hot Rod Deville 4x10 tube amp into Ziggie's for repair on a serious noisy buzz coming loudly through the speakers (even louder than the guitar signal!) Before taking it in, I did everything in my ability to troubleshoot the issue on my own (I am very poor, you see). I had recently replaced the tubes (carefully, with the help of a professional), the buzz dd not improve, so having heard good reviews, Ziggie's was my next resort. The repairman at Ziggie's was very kind, and knowledgeable. He assured me that it probably wasn't the new tubes I had installed (woo!) and that there was probably some short inside the circuitry of the amp. He had the amp for a three whole weeks (I had other options for live gigs luckily) and when I got it back, the amp was as good as new. The grand total was a $60. I sighed with relief, expecting the charge to be much higher. I'll most likely visit Ziggie's again with my next inevitable musical instrument problem. read more

We went in to support a local guitar store. We wanted to get too hat knob for guitar but man, the lady was having a hard time understanding. So she just gave us all of the compartments full of knobs. Store looked messy. Nothing like the picture. Will not be returning. read more

Ziggie's is a great little store. I used to live nearby and would stop in for guitar, bass and mandolin strings. They were always helpful and would often offer a discount on strings if I was trying out new types and was unsure about them. Ziggie's has an interesting selection of gear at reasonable prices. They lack the selection of big music superstores, but make up for it with strong customer service and inexpensive gear and repair options. read more

Watch your wallet here! I dropped off my well-cared-for accordion for repair and was told that it'd take months to repair. So, I bought a used one. I played in the shop and it seemed ok, but when I got it home, the keys stuck. I called the next day to say that I'd like to get the one that I'd dropped off for repair back and exchange it for the one that I'd purchased for $350 because that one was in poor condition. When I came back for the one that I wanted to have repaired, the owner could NOT "FIND" it. Owner made out WELL while I ended up with NO accordion. When I placed the receipt on the counter; shortly, it too could not be "found." This shop is a bit sketchy. Glad to get out of there with my wallet still in my pocket! read more

This music store, family-owned since the 1920's, is the best all-around music store I've ever been in, beating the large chain music stores hands-down. I say "all-around" because you can get repairs done quickly, lessons, and both current and vintage instruments. Very customer-centric and helpful, not pushy at all. read more

As a professional recording artist and musician, I have visited just about every music store/pawn shop in Phoenix. While Ziggy's may not have the largest most current inventory the folks who run the place are the kindest most knowledgeable people I have ever met in the business. I recently took a bass in to them to have it rewired (I was ready to throw it out) and they fixed it like new for only $15! Dionne is a (skip a generation), 3rd generation musical instrument sales and service person, so this is a shop that established WORKING MUSICIANS, know very well. After 90 years in the music business in the Phoenix area, she has a good amp tech, good guitar tech, and if anyone needs anything accordion repair related, it's worth a drive from 2,500 miles away or shipping from 10,000 miles away. Dionne is essentially trained by Hohner factory technicians. She is the official accordion guru! The Tejano, Norteno, and other Mexican musicians who play accordion will drive 20 hours up from southern Mexico just to have their accordions repaired. Her late husband made some iconic studio microphones (as in held patents on) and was a fabulous amp tech, so she does have some pretty high standards when it comes to amp repairs too. This shop has the mission to get your equipment up and running fast and right so you can go do your musician thing, and make your money playing music. If they can't do it, they will steer you in the right directions to get it done right. They have had their finger on the pulse of everything music in Phoenix since forever, and they know who is legit and who to avoid. Every working musician in town knows Ziggie's. I love this place. They took an old building and made it hipster chic in a nice downtown location. They have a great selection, helpful staff and I really like that they are not refurbishing the exterior but leaving in it's historic state. The staff is definitely devoted to the music business and are extremely knowledgeable about their inventory. They were really nice the first few times I went in, I bought a guitar amp and an accordion. Accordion works great, amps headphone jack doesn't work, I'm sure they'd repair it if asked. But then I went in to get a bass guitar, and we started talking, next thing I know she was ripping on what I do for a living, I'm not sure she made the connection that I was one of the people she was talking about, even though it was brought up in the beginning. Needless to say I probably won't be going back. Shame, because I thought I found my local music shop. Kinda irritated because other than that they were really nice people. read more

I was going to give it four stars, but then I read in an earlier review that they have a cat. Unlike the previous reviewer, I love cats, so five stars! Seriously though, the service impressed the heck out of me. I got my electric bass repaired while I waited, which I didn't expect, and they had some gorgeous vintage equipment to browse while I waited. Phone calls came in while I was there, and they were all cheerfully answered that the repair job was done or the sort. Repairing vintage amps seems to be a secondary specialty behind accordions, which they have many impressive examples of. They have nicer amps for less than what I paid and a selection of electric and acoustic guitars and electric basses. It's a bit dive-y, I personally am a lot more comfortable in mom-and-pop outfits than in sparking white showrooms. A lot of people go to mega-stores because they think they're anonymous there and won't be hassled -- they're doing it wrong. They hate you. This place loves their customers, and their customers love them. read more

This is NOT Guitar Center, or Sam Ash. This is a real genuine mom & pop family business. A majority of the customers are actual working musicians. Dionne is the queen of accordion repairs, for the western United States. He husband Chuck is also a very experienced top notch electronics repair man. I don't think very many other amp techs use a curve tracer to match transistors. Yeah, this store is small and funky. Some days they have some great deals. They are one of the few if not only stores that got into the niche market for Latino music, selling Bajo Sextos, Quintos, accordions and other instruments associated with Tejano Musica & Norteneo Musica. This store is getting close to 95 years old, and still in the same family. If I need something small, or just want to drop in, this is a great place. They also have a swap meet every month that is really special, and neat. I am managing a building in another city that was home to " an institution". Closing it, hurts, and it makes places like Ziggie's all the more special. How many 75 year old people will say, "Oh yeah, I bought a violin from Guitar Center back in 1959"? NONE! That is what you get with a place like Ziggies. You get a legacy, and 3 or 4 generations of real experience in musical instrument sales, & repairs. What do you get at Guitar Center? Some kid that repeats opinions like a parrot, or a know it all jerk intent on selling you some overpriced piece of junk? Dionne & Chuck are two of the bestest people on the planet! Having read all the raves about this store I thought I'd take my husband there to get a guitar strap. Walked in, was greeted by a customer service guy leaning over the counter. No greeting ...nothing. we asked if the store had guitar straps. Remaining where he was he pointed into the other room. Not so much as a grunt, just a point. No offer to help. When we asked questions about the knobs or screws that strap is hooked onto he told about putting one in the guitar and when I asked to see one, he moved for the first time to point to some hanging on the wall behind him and as my husband approached to take a closer look and as the guy reached to take the package of screws down he said very rudely to my husband, " I knew you'd walk behind the counter." This offended my husband deeply when all we were doing there was to buy a couple of products, so we left at that point, but man, this is no customer service. No other customer there, and no reason to be so stand-offish and rude....we certainly we not behaving that way. I don't know if this guy owns the store, is a family member or just some jerk working there, but frankly there is no excuse for such rudeness and in your face hostility. I will urge anyone I know to stay away. read more
