a blue windmill on a shelf
    Jen E.

I had driven by this restaurant so many times throughout my years, but was never able to stop to try it. I really wanted to try it though. My friends and I were hiking the Holland Ravines and our parking spot was right near this restaurant, so I was pretty excited that we could stop after our hike for dinner. I love the outside, with its windmill. Walking in, there's a diner counter to your left, to your right is a wonderful display of ice cream, and a table with home-cooked fresh apple pies, etc. We were seated by a very nice waitress in a booth near a window. They did have some outdoor seating, but it was near the road and it was a chilly day. The menu is expansive and includes breakfast all day if that's your desire. They have a smoker in the front yard that they use on the weekends. We opted for that option. We ordered, and split, the barbecue chicken wrap and the pulled pork sandwich, one with chips and one with fries. We really enjoyed both. The chicken wrap was the perfect flavoring and I loved melty cheese inside. The pulled pork sandwich had plenty of meat and a perfectly toasted bun. Of course, I couldn't resist all the ice cream flavors or the apple pie that I watched being placed on the table from the oven! We split four different scoops of ice cream, all better than the last, and a slice of apple pie. The apple pie had a nice crumble on top, the apples were soft, which I prefer, and flavoring was perfect. The waitress didn't even have to warm it up because it was still warm from the oven. It reminded me of my Mom's Apple pie, so I bought a full pie to bring to my Dad for $17. I thought that was a fair price, considering the apple pie was very heavy by weight. My parents are enjoying the pie! I would definitely recommend that you stop here and check it out! So glad I finally got to! I'm not sure why their rating was so low.

Finally stopped into the Zider Zee after at least a ten year hiatus. This was one of my late Grandpa's favorite places and we spent many Sunday mornings here on the way out to our cabin in Arcade. I don't know why I haven't been back the past few years, but I'm glad I broke that trend today. The interior is nicely freshened up since the last time I was there. I had the chicken barbecue melt which was delicious. Piping hot and saucy. I couldn't resist getting one of their homemade desserts and ended up trying a coconut cream pie which was also very good. Their pie and dessert list, along with their ice cream in the summer is enough to get me to go back! Thanks for the nice lunch while in Holland today.

Geesh! As stated by another yelper. Service is slowwwww (I think I might of actually caught a cat nap, had a dream and woke up and I was still waiting) patience is a virtue right?!? The food was even longer to come out (I think I should've brought a paperback to read after my nap) wow! The food is good actually. The double Dutch dip was tasty and done perfect. Points for that. This place is small and can become packed and busy given the time of day so check the parking lot over before entering the premises. Ice cream is also available if your craving a desert. Also lots of homemade local pies from sweet creations in Holland NY. Ziders earned a star for food but service and delivery are brutal at best minus 2.

Open face meatloaf sandwich with mashed potatoes, so good!

I ended up in Holland on Sunday around lunch time and thanks to Zider Zee's being where I needed to be it was the perfect stop for both lunch and ice cream! This is a small town little diner type place filled with homestyle cooking, plenty of delicious looking specials, and it's own ice cream parlour right inside. The place itself is a good size with plenty of seats, very cozy, and filled with a friendly staff to go with it. The menu was pretty diverse offering tons of different breakfast and lunch options but after seeing they had an open face meatloaf sandwich with mashed potatoes, I knew I needed to try it. The food only took about 6-7 minutes to be served and boy was it good. The meatloaf was delicious and the mashed potatoes we're as good as mashed potatoes can be. Now I couldn't leave Zider Zee's without giving some of the ice cream a try so I decided to get a scoop of the mint chip and a scoop of the cookie dough and both get 2 big thumbs up from me. Overall, this place is an awesome little restaurant for a small town like Holland and offers both delicious food and delicious ice cream and I hope to come back some day!

    Busy cooktop!

Ok you need to stop in here and give them a try! I read the other reviews and was a little hesitant but I know the food is good so I stopped in for breakfast/lunch today. We were greeted by a happy smiling waitress so right away I was feeling better about coming in. My husband & I grabbed 2 spots at the counter. I ordered the Big Buck platter and was able to substitute the plain pancakes for their cinnamon pecan ones at no charge! It did take a little longer for the good but the place was packed so it's understandable. I watched the owner cook everything the entire time we were there so it's not like they were sitting around talking. Great food like theirs is worth the wait! Their prices are very reasonable too. My mouth was watering as soon as I saw her loading up my plate! Everything was delicious. .scrambled eggs, home fries, sourdough toast, sausage & pancakes! Those cinnamon pecan pancakes were some of the best I have ever had! All the waitresses were very friendly and thanked us multiple times for coming in. Everyone has rough days so go by my review and give them a chance. You will be happy you did!!

Really cute little spot for lunch! I ended up here on a Sunday. Their menu has so many things and they also had a list of specials. I went with a turkey sandwich from the specials list. The food was ready really quick and it was really good! We also couldn't say no to ice cream afterwards. I got strawberry patch ice cream and it was absolutely delicious.

We stopped into Nellie's restaurant for a late breakfast/early lunch on a Monday afternoon…read more It was unusually quiet here today, so we were able to sit anywhere in the restaurant. Nellie's is a fixture in the rural town of Arcade New York. The theme of the restaurant is very rustic, with many taxidermy animals along the timbered ceiling. The service was extremely good today as we were greeted with beverages soon after seating ourselves. The menu is pretty extensive for a small place like Nellie's. They feature an extensive selection of juicy burgers, big wraps, full and 1/2 sub sandwiches, patty melts. The breakfast menu is very extensive and includes all the standard diner fare. Let me say that we have never had a bad meal here. The food is always on point! Today our little guys split an order of chicken fingers and fries. Plenty enough food for them today, as their appetites were rather small. The french fries here are what I would say are exquisite. I know they're only frozen french fries, but they're the ones that we prefer. They have a batter coating and they are cooked crispy on the outside light on the inside and also so delicious. The kid's chicken finger platter comes with two nice big chicken fingers, very tasty and extra crispy. My husband ordered a breakfast sandwich with Swiss cheese and bacon with scrambled eggs. His sandwich came on a large hard roll and the plate included a big pile of home fries. I ordered a quarter pound bacon blue cheeseburger. Definitely more than a person could eat at one meal. The sandwich included lettuce, tomato, bacon, blue cheese crumbles, and onion, a very refreshing garnish for this delicious sandwich. We all took part of our food home, and will enjoy that later. The restaurant is from another era, and the decor is very rustic, it's clean whenever we visit. If you're looking for a reasonably priced, well-made, breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Nellie's is sure to please.

Went there today to eat about an hour before closing. Ordered one of their "Big" breakfasts…read more(without the pancakes). Got a coffee and spent a total of $9.94 before tip. Food was tasty standard roadside cafe type. This isn't white linen table service. Great quick drive by eatery where you can be certain you'll get full without emptying your wallet. Friendly people, but if you're not from the area you'll take the tone of the server the wrong way. Go in thinking like you're with family where they'll be sassy & sarcastic with you... You know the place type - the ones that have signs that say things like, "Sarcasm, it's just one more service we offer!" or "Sorry, Yesterday was the deadline for all complaints." If you don't like that kind of kitschy environment, Kipp's definitely isn't your cup of tea. I only heard of this place (though I live about 5 miles from it) because it was on the local news. My take on their actual news interview? (Because I actually watched the local news interview): Kipp (owner) is simply trying to make it known that he welcomes those with ALL opinions and refuses to throw any customer out because of what they wear, where they work, who they politically support, etc. It's a food place. You come to eat - and you can chat if you like too! Of course this welcoming nature has caused every loony person around the nation to absolutely loose it that this guy dares to be inclusive of everyone, including Sarah Sanders. Well, I met the guy. While my wife swings on the definite democrat side of things, I'm more middle ground with a slight lean to the right (whatever that means). I tend to agree with just about anything that makes reasonable sense. Having met Kipp I'm really glad he's open to anyone eating there. He'll survive as a business regardless of this national non-sense because: 1. It's a local joint with limited hours and the locals who regularly eat there were the main supporting income of this establishment to begin with. 2. The national attention, while bringing with it some complete idiots, has also brought more not-so-regular-business, such as myself. I'd never heard of the place before the news and I thought it'd be cool to check it out for myself - you know, go to the source, instead of listening to stupid people with an ax to grind. I felt I needed to support this guy's open nature to accepting any customer and not pre-judging them. Something democrats claim to support. This guy isn't a nazi, a racist, homophobe or islamaphobe. He's a normal person with a local business in this community here, who happens to have opinions and votes just like any other person in the US. So you don't like that he probably voted for Trump? Well, I'm certain some of your family & friends did too and they're just not telling you! If there was a way to rig & "steal" an election, it would have been done long before 2016!! His choice in voting doesn't make him any of these nasty terms which are simply used to dismiss and demean someone. This is a real review. I took a picture of myself in front of the sign this morning in case someone decided to report my review as fake. Yes, I did crop my face out of the photo, because I'm not dumb. There are enough crazies who are irate about absolutely nothing that I anticipate more than a few will attempt to harass me. Also, my city on my profile still reads "Palo Alto, CA" because it's where I live 1/2 time while on business. We relocated our primary home to this area near Kipps back in 2017.
