We came out for a few errands today, and rewarded ourselves with a stop at Nellie's Restaurant. We were very warmly greeted by one of the servers and advised to sit anywhere we felt comfortable. The dining room was not overly full, about half the seating was taken. It has occurred to me that the meals I've enjoyed here are really a throwback to my formative years when food was handmade according to traditional recipes, full of fresh ingredients, and popular items from the 50s 60s and 70s. The menu is chock full of sandwich melts, hand-sliced roasted meats, full salad bar, thick slices of hearty bakery bread, a soup of the day, hearty omelettes, a large traditional breakfast menu. These are tried and true items to satisfy people who remember when good food was served up in diners all across America. You created a monster. We started off with beverages. Mine was an unsweetened iced tea with lemon and my husband had a decaf coffee. Then we placed our orders. My husband ordered one of his favorites, a Turkey Melt on thick slices of toasted sourdough. A generous portion of roasted turkey breast meat was stacked up along with provolone cheese and roasted green peppers, and crispy pickles as a garnish. He selected German potato salad for his side dish. Very delicious, and just too much to eat, so 1/2 of the sandwich came home with him. I ordered the Western outlet, complete with three eggs, a pile of delicious diced ham, green peppers and onions. Topped with delicious. melted cheddar cheese. My breakfast came with a platter full of hash browns and I selected sourdough toast to go with my breakfast. Some of the dinners come with salad bar, which was freshly filled with all kinds of lettuces, toppings and dressings. Nellie's also hand scoops hard ice cream cones and Sundaes. As always, we were extremely satisfied with our meals, and promised ourselves we would be back again in the future. read more

Absolutely the best Beef on Weck!!!! I'm super picky about my beef on weck so I was very surprised at just how delicious theirs is!!! I compare every one to theirs and no one has even come close. First time here with my family passing thru arcade. Kids were hungry so we stopped. Food was delish. Large menu. Something for everyone. Kids meals were a good size, come with a drink. Was able to get breakfast for lunch. Inside decor was amazing. Kids really enjoyed walking around to see the mounted animals. read more

Food was not good. Eggs were mushy and hash browns were greasy. Older woman as waitress was nice but messed up both omelette and home fries order. The waitress who delivered the food was a different waitress. We told her the order was wrong. She was rude and just grabbed the plate without saying a word and walked away. If your going to the Attica Arcade railroad. Stopping here to eat is a must. Breakfast, Lunch and they have a fish fry on Friday. (note breakfast stops on Fridays at 11am) Really delicious biscuits and gravy. Giant burgers. Good place! read more

Enjoyed our lunch here very much. Shared a gigantic Turkey club on sourdough with hubby....absolutely delicious...piled high with delicious Turkey breast and bacon... and the fries were delicious-hot and crispy outside and tender inside. We came here for a late holiday day brunch on Columbus Day (am I still allowed to call it this? Italian American Day? Indiginous Peoples Day?) We easily found parking and when we entered the facility we were told to choose our seating. Seating was plentiful although the place was bustling. The restaurant is bright, airy and clean. A hunter's woodland theme abounds. We were quickly given menus and asked for our drink order. We ordered coffees. The menu was fairly expansive. I focused on breakfast and my husband focused on lunch. I ordered the "Slinging Hash" which was billed as poached egg over corned beef hash on an English Muffin smothered in cheese sauce, with home fries. I was asked if I would like onion in the home fries which was a nice touch. I ordered the hash browns crispy with onions. I asked if the dish had one or two eggs, as the menu seemed to indicate one egg with the use of the phrase "poached egg." I was told two eggs, so I asked to order an extra egg (three eggs total). My husband ordered the turkey club on wheat toast. My dish came with what appeared to be only two poached eggs. I pointed out to the server that I had ordered an additional egg and she said. "Yes, it is in there." Thinking that perhaps my extra egg was shy and had buried itself under some cheese sauce or corned beef hash, I did not argue with her, but dug in. Quickly and sadly I found that no additional egg was playing hide and seek with me. Despite my annoyance at my absent egg, I was happy with the dish otherwise, it was quite delicious! The hash browns were perfectly crispy. My husband reported that his turkey club was also excellent. The bacon was crisp and the turkey moist. The sandwich was huge, so hubby asked for a take out box for half. The take out box was large and made of paper rather than plastic--environmentally friendly. We were freely offered many coffee refills by multiple servers. In all, a nice breakfast joint with friendly and attentive staff. The bill was about $30 bucks so with a $6 tip it was $36. I was charged $1.20 for my vacationing egg. Low on energy, I decided not to bring it to the establishment's attention. I actually believe that the dish is as billed on the menu..."poached EGG" and thus I likely got my "extra egg." This will remain a deep mystery until the next time I come here. read more

Not home-style at all. Machine Pressed burgers, tough as all get, hard to chew and digest. Frozen fries, no salt while hot and very bland. Not worth the price! $12.50 I have a feeling the potato salad is commercial and the onion rings are frozen like the fries. If you want home-style, make fresh hand made patties and fresh cut fries. It's not that hard and it would increase business. Then it would be worth the price. Ask before you order, because if you want home-style, this is NOT the place to go. This is a family business with a homey atmosphere. They have good food with friendly staff. We didn't wait for our food. They only had one soup which was clam chowder. I have never had a worse experience at a restaurant. When we walked in one of the young waitresses working there, gave us the dirtiest look I've ever seen and said just sit anywhere. So we sat over in a corner because we were a table of six and there weren't a lot of options. Right away we noticed that there were a ton of flies, and it smelled like cat pee, so we decided to move over to the other side of the restaurant. They did not like it when we did this. So we sat at a table on the other side and four of us were there, but two of our six had yet to arrive. Two people in our party tried to order coffee, and the waitress said " can you wait until the rest of your party arrives to order anything?" Are you serious? Like for real? You aren't even going to offer us something to drink while we are sitting in your restaurant? I have never a experienced anything so rude in a restaurant. Or actually anywhere. So we waited, with nothing to drink until our other friends arrived. Even after they arrived, we sat there for another 10 minutes and one person had to go over and ask the waitress to come and take our order. For the record, the restaurant was not busy. I found the food to be mediocre, I found the service to be hideous, I found the environment to be disgusting. The waitress sneezed on one of the people in our party, the server stuck her thumb in my husband's oatmeal, there were flies everywhere, and the whole place smelled like cat pee. They practically shut the place down while we were sitting there eating, taking away all the creamers and rudely, turning anyone away who tried to come in after 2pm. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!!! I would happily stand outside the door and try to turn anyone away from coming into this place. It was really that bad. read more

This little diner is a diamond in the rough in WNY. Arcade is a quiet little town but Nelli's blew me away. It a Mom and Pop restaurant and you could taste every bit of that in the food!! Nellie's is one of my favorite places to eat lunch or breakfast in Arcade. I am often there once a month.

I'm originally from WNY and the town where Nellie's is located. Its a local diner, and very traditional diner food is served. The prices seem a little high for that area though compared to where I live now out west, and since leaving town years ago. I was pretty surprised at that. But the food is good, service good.. and I see they take cards now, so that's a plus! We come here everytime we are back in town, and we definitely will again. read more

I go here for the western omelettes, and they truly melt in your mouth. 2nd best omelettes I have ever eaten. Good breakfast place, not so much dinner though. The Texas sauce was probably the worst I ever had and the tap water taste bad. The only downside to the interior is it looks a bit dusty. But overall the morning product sells itself. read more

I would LOVE to give this place a review - but I can't! Every single time I've tried to go here for dinner in the last three years, the place isn't open - EVER!! The weekend when you'l think they are the busiest - they close early. They don't even know their hours. I literally JUST called to see when they were open till and the nice lady who answered the phone yells out "Are we closing at 7:30? 8:00?" -- which really proves my point. I seriously wouldn't think a restaurant would close that early (it's Wednesday)! I asked her about other hours and they close at 2:00 PM on the weekends!!!! What?? How do they stay in business?? Me and the hubbie had dinner there tonight and the food was amazing, the prices great, and the staff fast and friendly. The salad bar was so fresh and all of the salads home made as was all the soups. Joe had the bean and burger soup and said it was amazing. I had the chicken cordon blu. it was easy to see that that too was home made and it was wonderful. The portion was so big I have enough left over for lunch. Cute atmosphere and lovely diner food. Huge portions, I had the blueberry pancake and bacon. The pancake was bigger than my head! It was really tasty and served with a big scoop of butter. A bit pricey, and definitely not what you're looking for if you're trying to eat healthy though. But that's okay, we need classic diners like this and it's authentic. I am not a food snob by any means. Certainly I can enjoy a good home-style meal. Such a meal can't describe what my wife and I had at Nellie's for breakfast, unfortunately. The sauce on the eggs benedict was a strange "cheese food". The ham was clearly out of a can and left a strange metallic taste in our mouth. The cottage cheese was oddly bland. The fruit cup my wife got had old melon and rotting grapes. On a positive note, the coffee and eggs were OK and the service was friendly. read more

Had breakfast at Nellie's and I won't be going again. The toast was cold with a big gob of unmelted butter in the middle, the bacon tasted like it was last week's bacon, the grease used to make the bacon was old, the eggs weren't done as I liked and the place was dirty (you could see the layers of dust on the lamp shades above the tables) and the bathrooms didn't work.
