Full disclosure: I had two complete "rookie mistakes" during our meal that I've never done in my life. First, while reaching for a slice of pizza, I managed to send the entire rest of the pizza - pan, rack, and all - crashing onto the floor. Mortified is an understatement. Before I could even finish apologizing, Adam stepped in. He had a staff member clean it up in literally ten seconds, flashed a warm smile, and calmly said a new pizza would be right out. Zero frustration, zero annoyance--he handled it with complete grace and had a second, fresh pizza at our table in minutes. He made sure I didn't feel embarrassed for even a second. To make matters worse, five minutes after walking out the door, my phone rang. It was Adam, politely letting me know I'd left my credit card behind. When I walked back in feeling twice as foolish, he handed it over with a smile and a good laugh after I admitted it wasn't my banner day. Hubby and I met our granddaughter at Giuseppe's Restaurant on Olean Road in South Wales. This is a nostalgic little diner with a tiny little counter in the front. It reminds me of a quaint little rustic diner as one might find in a fishing village in the Adirondack region. The menu was surprisingly large for such a little establishment as Giuseppe's. I am on the eternal search for the perfect beer-battered fish fry. Giuseppe put on a really strong showing tonight with my fish dinner. The batter was a light golden brown and the fish was tender and juicy. Definitely fried in very fresh oil! It came with a 3" scoop of American potato salad, nice and flavorful! The coleslaw was very creamy. About midway through our dinner, our waitress brought over dinner rolls and butter for our fish dinners. My devoted spouse ordered his usual broiled fish. He loved the fish, but was not a fan of the coleslaw, as he prefers more of a vinegar and sugar dressing. The granddaughter ordered the lasagna which came with a large dinner salad. She enjoyed her dinner, but had to take home a large portion. We all ordered dessert, because we knew that it is all homemade here at Giuseppe's. Mike and I had the cherry crumb, which was very delicious. The little granddaughter got the apple pie to go. We most definitely will have to return to try out more of that expansive menu!
