Zia completely destroyed my hair and it's going to take years for it to ever be what it was.
I frequent the salon she is located in and was referred to her by the other stylists. I assumed I could trust she knew what she was doing seeing as she was so recommended and she has fabulous work on her social media. I was in total awe and beyond excited to have an appointment with her.
We had a consultation and she gave me a quote and required that I pay half the amount upfront. She stated that she would not refund it if I chose not to follow through and made me wait months before getting in. At the time I had pink in my hair and was actively letting it fade. Apparently this scared her and she wasn't sure she would be able to get the baby pink out of my hair. At the time, I was new to coloring my hair and trusted her because I didn't know. And she completely exploited that.
Two months later I come in for my appointment with obvious grow out. I have naturally light hair and the person who bleached me before had zero issue with lifting the color. The exact second I sat down in the chair, Zia tells me she did not have the color I wanted and I would have to do something else. I couldn't believe this because she had TWO MONTHS to let me know. To avoid any confusion, I showed her photos of her own work and coloring. There is absolutely no excuse she was not prepared for this at all.
I was then forced to decide on the spot what to do. I have never had someone put me in that situation before and she refused to give me my money back. She talked me into bleaching my hair and I figured that was better to do than losing almost $200. The entire time she was working on my hair, she was telling me stories about how she scammed an ex into funding the salon and paying for everything she had to start the business. (Red flag, obviously.) She sloppily threw bleach on my head, getting it all over my skin. I had to use the cover I was wearing to wipe it off and even when she saw me do that she didn't offer anything to clean up. The worst part was that she had different bleach levels overlap on my hair, which is now making all of my hair fall off (not even joking, chunks have been doing this since my visit).
After she threw all this bleach on my head, she walked out of the building and didn't return for about an hour. I was completely left alone in the building, as no other stylists were even working that day. She never checked on me and it's apparent she left me to go talk on the phone with her partner. She came back in, and washed my hair and acknowledged that it was not fully lifted or the same tone. But she wanted to go hang out with her partner so she wanted to speed the appointment up. She refused to tone my hair and I was completely yellow. She told me to go home and wash my hair with purple shampoo and that would fix that issue. I was scheduled for a hair cut too, and she legitimately took the scissors and just cut across in one swoop in two seconds. I've never in my life had my hair cut like that before. She asked for another $100 and then kicked me out.
Hours later, what happened hit me and I was devastated. I reached out to a friend who pointed me to another stylist who saw me a couple days later and fixed my hair. I did not at all feel comfortable going back to Zia because of her unprofessionalism and complete disregard for my safety and hair. I reached out to her letting her know what she did and asked for a refund. Her response was basically just "sorry you feel that way." She then blocked me on Instagram.
I still go to that salon for other services and she has zero issue walking past me as of she didn't just destroy my hair. I come to find she has a terrible reputation in the beauty industry and the person I go to now has had to repair multiple botched jobs like what she did to me. The other negative comments on here are truthful and her responses are total BS. If she treats clients like family, it's because they are already friends or people she gets something from. If you're a new client, she cares less about you. read more
