Not an acceptable practice and I only posted this hoping that management would see it and take the appropriate steps to ensure it doesn't happen to anyone else. New to the Ogden area and wanted to find a nice sit down Chinese restaurant to enjoy with my mom. Zhangs was reviewed favorably so we gave it a shot... service was good. Hot and Soup and appetizers were great, but both our main dishes were not good. Mom ordered Moo goo gai pan & I ordered orange chicken... both had extremely dry and chewy chicken we couldn't even cut. The portions were generous and the sauces on each were OK (although a bit heavy handed on the garlic), but the biggest issue was the "chicken" in both dishes was just too tough to eat. It was a bit pricey too, especially given the quality. Plan on $16-18 dollars per person before drinks if you order from the dinner menu. We both agreed we would not go back. read more

Unbelievable BAD experience! Ordered Zhangs fried rice and Happy Family... received the wrong rice dish and asked to have it corrected! After we finished our main dish we were served the originally ordered rice dish with the explanation that they'd "missed" our ticket again! The replacement rice was not edible so we asked them to just take it back... received our ticket with the Happy Family "plus" shrimp $3 ... Happy Family HAS shrimp in it! We didn't ask for extra! Food is good, we get alot of take out from here, but you have to remind them not to put the soups or sauces ontop of each other because the plastic on the lids melt and get into sauces, it has happend 3 times now, I have to literally scoop the melted plastic from the sauces and soups.. not good and you may have to remind them not to stack them ontop of each other, what they really need to do is buy better plastic tops, everywhere else I go this has NEVER been an issue! Great every now and then. Average prices for Chinese food, but huge portions! Just about everything seems to come with Szechuan Chicken and it's definitely their defining dish. I always get the Broccoli Beef combo. Like all combos, it comes with the Szechuan chicken, rice (ham fried or white), soup (egg drop or hot&sour), 3 jumbo shrimp, and dessert wontons! 4 stars because while it's a great deal, I've had orders messed up a couple times (me and people I've came with.) This was my first time here. The food was good. Had the house lo mein and I recommend it. Our service, how ever was really slow. We waited for about 20 minutes for our wait person to take our order. The food came out fast, but again, only saw him once to fill our water and then about 20 minutes later to bring us the check. I will eat there again and hope for a different waiter. read more

I always order from the Chopstix in South Ogden. I am always very satisfied with what I get. Probably the best Chinese food in the area. Having said that some may say why the complaint. Well, because of the quality of the food I would expect the same quality with the staff. I stopped in to get a to go menu. I had one other quick stop to make so I asked the person behind the counter if she thought the timing would be about right if I ordered at that time, ran a couple blocks down the road for a couple minutes and came right back if the food would be ready. She said the timing sounded fine. I then made the order, asking specifically for the special/or add on of fried rice, crab wontons, and soup for an additional $3.00 to be added to the ala carte order of the chicken dish. I ran down the street and when returning I had a very short wait before the food was ready. All good stuff so far. I then took what they handed me and returned home. When I got home and unpackaged the meals there wasn't any soup, fried rice or wontons. I called the store the person was very short with me. She remembered the order being put in, but said that it wasn't put in correctly, because the special wasn't added to the order. I mentioned that I was very clear when put in the order. There was no doubt in my mind the hispanic lady understood my order because of her response to my questions. I am not looking for anything free, but instead of being short and debating with me when I called in to make them aware maybe listening and recognizing her employee may have made a mistake. I probably wouldn't be writing this. Even if they offered me to come pick up what wasn't provided I probably wouldn't went back for it. The point is the way I was treated when calling back in. I have dined in twice and both times had entirely horrible service. It's infuriating when you order and they bring something different than what you order and play it off as though it is your fault. I felt as though I was clear in what I wanted by pointing to it and saying the name. When they brought it, I looked at the dish and questioned it. The employee said I thought you wanted this because it doesn't x,y, and z. I responded that I ordered that dish for the very reasons she assumed I did not want it. There was no offer to rectify the problem and no compensation let alone an apology offered. It's hard to find a restaurant all four members of my family will readily agree on, but Zhangs Chopsticks always brings every one of us to the table. We watched the old Training Table restaurant on Harrison turn into a Chinese restaurant with great interest. The bright exterior and snappy name led me to believe it was a chain, so imagine my surprise to learn Zhangs is locally owned and family run! The Ogden Zhangs is the second location, the original is in Farmington. We dropped in one day for lunch and immediately fell in love. A giant fish tank greets you when you walk in, full of fish for happy kids to admire. The decor has a tiny touch of kitsch and a nice touch of elegance. Its clean, bright, and there are plenty of clean granite topped tables. In the numerous times we have come to Zhangs for a meal, Morgan has been our waiter. He is super friendly, helpful and informed on the menu, and bless him he has NEVER messed up an order or let our glasses go empty, despite often being the only waiter working. On the night of the big windstorm Zhangs was one of the only restaurants with power, the place was packed and working on only 50% power- but we were seated quickly, fed quickly, and the food and service was as wonderful as ever. I watched Morgan take orders in his head from 4 tables in a row and everything came out just as ordered- how awesome is that? The lunch special can't be beat, the most expensive item is 7.29 but most are 5.99. For that you get a fresh entree, rice, soup of your choice, and an egg roll or steamed veggies (You can also sub the crab cheese wontons for a touch extra- believe me, they are worth it!). A generous bowl of egg drop soup (I always bring at least half home!) is under $4.00. Their food is prepared from scratch and you can taste the difference, everything is fresh and delicious. Takeout is ready promptly and well packaged for travel (no spilled soup or leaking sweet and sour sauce!) My kids favorites are the egg drop soup, sweet and sour pork, and orange chicken. My husband and I have tried the Cashew Nut Chicken, Chicken Lo Mein, Moo Goo Gai Pan, Beef with Broccoli, General Tao's Chicken, BBQ Pork, and the Hot and Sour soup. All were fantastic and I can't say this enough: FRESH. At first glance Zhangs may appear to be just another Chinese chain but give it a second look, the Zhang family has been running restaurants for years and it shows in the quality of the food and service. read more

However, I received imitation crab and no king crab. There were only 2 mussels in the order and scallops were very sparse as well. There were a lot of potatoes and fish though. Went to Zhangs Chopstix for a birthday lunch. We ordered lunch plates and a few other items. I enjoyed their egg drop soup. Hated their specialty fried rice. Cilantro in fried rice should not be an ingredient. Yuck. Enjoyed their sweet and sour chicken, cashew chicken, and general tsos. My brother in law mentioned the hot and sour soup a little sweet. The egg rolls were a little sweet too. We talked to the waitress and she mentioned there was cinnamon in the egg rolls. For the most part we enjoyed our meals. Great food. The restaurant is nice (something that can't be said of a lot of Chinese places, unfortunately), and the food, while nothing special does occasionally show flashes of flair. A solid choice for Chinese food in Ogden. Atmosphere is quite nice (I love the booths right inside the door on the right side of the restaurant - private, cozy). It is easy to dine here with children & they have a good gluten free menu too. Some of our favorite dishes are the salt & pepper beef, moo shu pancakes w/shrimp, lettuce wraps. Crab wontons don't have enough flavor, so skip those (needs green onions or something). Probably not the most authentic Chinese, but quite good. read more

Chopsticks is our favorite family restaurant in the Ogden area. I've been at least a dozen times and have never been disappointed. The general chicken, house chow fun and ham fried rice are bomb.
