When we arrived with our little dog, we were greeted warmly and taken immediately to a table on the patio (no reservation needed). There were a mixture of tourists and locals and the vibe was good. Although there is a constant breeze from the bay, the glass partitions keep it comfortable. Not sure how well outside we be during the hottest months, but in a 70 degree day like this evening it was perfect.
There is a full bar and a good selection of local and Italian wines. The Valpolicello Ripasso we ordered was from a winery new to us, and it was enjoyable.
We had a caprese salad to start. The tomatoes were fresh and full of flavor and the mozzarella was fresh tasting as well. Although we prefer a good balsamic vinegar drizzle, the pesto olive oil did work.
The pasta in both dishes was on the harder side of al dente, and it worked great. I'm not sure if it was fresh pasta but I'd put money on it being fresh pasta.
The burrata and the tomato sauce for the spaghetti had a very nice balance, and you won't go wrong with the dish.
The carbonara is made from eggs (not cream!) a as it should be. The raw egg over the top was an excellent touch. If you're worried about raw eggs order something else. Because this is exactly the way carbonara is supposed to be prepared. The yolk was a darker orange, tasting fresh from the farm. And it really added a nice layer of flavor.
