Service is, as some people have mentioned on Yelp and on Google maps, quite lackluster; resting b**** face seems to be the theme here- a stark contrast considering everywhere else I've visited in Lisbon so far has been filled with top notch smiling service. The RBF honestly sometimes isn't a bad thing if we compare it to the other extreme of overly excited overbearing wait staff checking in on you every two bites. Here on an overcast rainy Sunday early afternoon - first weekend of January 2025 so it's low tourist season and a bit chilly but it's also not too cold to sit outside. Double espresso helped me wake up a bit; had an over priced glass of red wine (7 euros?!!) that was definitely VERY meh. Ordered the Pugliese pizze. It was average- neither amazing nor horrid. Overall, I'd say this place is a tad pricey - it's NYC prices/ what I expect to pay at home, but doesn't quite meet standards to be charging these prices. Basically a hyped up tourist trap. Come here if you're an expat or for the outdoor dining vibes. Eat at the Vasco de Gama mall food court if you want a better value/quality ratio.

There were a mixture of tourists and locals and the vibe was good. Although there is a constant breeze from the bay, the glass partitions keep it comfortable. Not sure how well outside we be during the hottest months, but in a 70 degree day like this evening it was perfect. There is a full bar and a good selection of local and Italian wines. The Valpolicello Ripasso we ordered was from a winery new to us, and it was enjoyable. We had a caprese salad to start. The tomatoes were fresh and full of flavor and the mozzarella was fresh tasting as well. Although we prefer a good balsamic vinegar drizzle, the pesto olive oil did work. The pasta in both dishes was on the harder side of al dente, and it worked great. I'm not sure if it was fresh pasta but I'd put money on it being fresh pasta. The burrata and the tomato sauce for the spaghetti had a very nice balance, and you won't go wrong with the dish. The carbonara is made from eggs (not cream!) a as it should be. The raw egg over the top was an excellent touch. If you're worried about raw eggs order something else. Because this is exactly the way carbonara is supposed to be prepared. The yolk was a darker orange, tasting fresh from the farm. And it really added a nice layer of flavor. Again, a dog friendly establishment, so remember not all dogs are timid! And no worries of you bring your little canine compatriot, they will be welcomed with open arms!

So I'm slowly catching up on the reviews of a trip that was, at this point, about 3 months ago. But…read morepresuming nothing's changed in 3 months, they had a bunch of great flavors of pizza by the slice, 4-5 euros a slice. That's already not bad, but their slices were... large. We split 4 different slices, but asked them to cut them all in half, which they did. That was... too much food (we ended up eating some for an unexpected pizza breakfast the next morning.) Great pizza, great sauce, great fluffy crust. The flavors we tried - mozzarella and basil (fantastic), pork belly (basically bacon, but very good bacon - fantastic), one other one I didn't appear to have written down, and the mushroom and truffle that we both agreed was certainly mushroomy, but a bit one dimensional. Would definitely come back if we were in Lisbon in the future. It is basically only to-go, which was fine for us, we were staying at a hotel nearby. The do also sell fancy sodas and a great Italian craft beer for, at least as of a little under 3 months ago, 3 euros each, which we also got one of each (also great, especially when you're on vacation and you don't have access to your beer collection like at home. :D)

Actually, in that same menu, a second thing that also seemed fairly unusual for bars in Lisbon, oddly: a bar that was doing something with ginja other than just serving it neat or in a chocolate shotglass (namely, a ginja spritz, also one of the drinks that's very cheap during happy hour, from 3-7 PM.) Obviously I tried one while I was here, and obviously, it was great. Was especially great for 5.5 euros. Ginja spritzes are bomb. Then I had an 8 euro happy hour "of the day", which that particular day, was a strawberry mojito - not as unique, but also, a great strawberry mojito. Finally, I did try one cocktail off their regular cocktail menu - I'm a huge sucker for Negroni variants, and this was one of the more fun takes I've seen, the Madeironi, of Campari, and both Madeira wine and an agricole rum, also from Madeira. I'd played with sherry at home a few times in Negronis, but hadn't ever tried Madeira - was truly exceptional. They even had the correct large cocktail ice cubes for it. Great service, too (admittedly, it was also basically empty, that presumably being why they had a happy hour, but I've been to empty bars that didn't have as good service, plenty of times.) This is a place I'd definitely come back to if I were back in Lisbon, both to try a couple more of their more locally-focused menu cocktails, and to drink several super-cheap spritzes. And probably try the pizza, too.)
