After a long night of cocktails, I happened to stumble upon Mercantina with the biggest cravings for a cheesy pizza. Indecisive and midway drunk, I settled with the classic margherita and a glass of red sangria. Not long after ordering, my impatience was in full swing. I creepily gawked at the kitchen jusy hoping that my pizza was miraculously ready. Trying to distract my mind, I sipped on the cold glass of sangria. The semisweet cocktail delivered different notes of citrus and fruits that it instantly reminded me of summer in Spain.
Just like that, the very hot wooden fire oven pizza was ready. The lingering smell of garlic and other Italian aromas was so evident that I think my nose was in ecstasy for a second. Without caution, I quickly went in for a bite and there it was, cheesy, fresh, authentic- it was marvelous! A half pizza later, my once very hungry belly was pleasantly satisfied. Overall, basing my judgement off of quality, the cost of the meal in my opinion was borderline inexpensive. I'll look forward to trying other dishes when I return to Lisbon! read more
