Even w it being our first time playing VR games. The staff is amazing. Suuuper helpful and patient. I dont kno how they manage it, but even with a full house, were nearby, attentive, and friendly. It's easy to get to and appreciate that parking is simple via the attached garage (albeit the garage is interesting and could be the scene of a horror film). There are ample food options as well since this place is nestled in Ballston with the outdoor area on Wilson crawling with restaurants. If you need something quick, fast casual spots and fast food in general are offered in the food court inside of the mall. Now for the actual game review. It's best to book in advance online. Things are super easy and much faster; you also do not have to pick a game right away. So far I've played the Floor is Lava, a more family oriented one with my nephew, and most recently Squid Games with my nieces. Note that the latter is better suited for older kids. My youngest niece who is 5 had a couple of issues maneuvering her avatar during Squid Games. Of the three I played, Squid Games has been my favorite, naturally. Youngest niece kept dying every time she stepped foot. I was telling her to go left go left and she screamed back at me that she hadn't learned left or right yet, then proceeded to get picked off. Game aside, please note you are welcome to purchase drinks from the room. If you are playing a game that's more than 30 mins, note you will need water. There is a lot of moving around. Also note, sadly the water is Dasani so prepare to have your tastebuds assaulted.

I went with my niece and was genuinely surprised by how much fun we had! The games were interactive, challenging, and a total blast. We laughed a lot, got competitive, and I'm pretty sure people in the other rooms (or "boxes") could hear us having a great time. I'm really glad we gave it a try, and I'd definitely go back. If you have kids or are looking for a unique family outing, I'd say the passes are well worth it. One quick tip: Know exactly where you're going before you arrive. I didn't realize the location is on the outside of the mall, which wasn't a big issue for me, but it could be frustrating if you're tight on time. The confirmation emails do a solid job providing directions--if you're driving and parking. But if you're getting dropped off (like I was via Uber), the signage and location can be a little tricky to spot. A minor hiccup, but something to be aware of.

My son and his cousins and his friend had a blast playing the games for 90 minutes. We have been to other VR Arcades in the past, on the west coast and I have to say this one was the best. All us adults can't wait to go without the kids! lol! Perfect place for a date too! Fight Zombies or relax on the beach or take an underwater dive in the ocean and see beautiful jellyfish surrounding you! They had an awesome selection of games and tons of them! It was magical and I literally can't wait to go back. The staff was awesome! Will emailed me later letting us know my niece forgot her eyeglasses there, how awesome is that!? So many people would have just tossed them or not taken the time to email anyone. I was impressed by his patience and professionalism dealing with 3 teens and 1 8 year old who were a bit needy. I would give this experience a 3.5 rating…read more I enjoyed the experience overall, but there were several tech issues during my allotted time - audio wasn't working, headsets weren't fully charged, etc. The person running the experience gave us some extra time to account for the tech issues, but it definitely took away from the enjoyment. The games also don't really have good tutorials when you start them, so it took some time to figure how to properly play most of them. It's about $50 per person for an hour of game time, which seems a bit excessive for what you get. It's a cool experience to try once but not sure I'd do it again for the same price.

Without giving too much info away if you choose the deadwood valley theme you will have all type of things coming at you. It was a great shooting game. One thing that could be improved would be the customer service. Once we walked in we did not know what to do or where to go. We had to search around for someone to help us. Also, the staff wasn't great at explaining the instructions. Think he assumed that we knew what to do. However, it was a great experience. Definitely check it out if you are in Tyson's Corner.

This was my second time here over a year ago and I did the previous Deadwood, which is filled with zombies and other strange creatures. The graphics are crisp and pretty realistic, to get you hopping around, panting, and sweating. Just like any video game you move from a new level to the next level, which comes with a change of scenery. We went from a creepy lab, a meatpacking conveyor belt, to boots on the ground fighting in a zombie war zone! So much fun with many more surprises and features I'll let you discover for yourself. I felt it was long enough towards the end, I start hoping the goblins would stop coming. Perfect amount of time. They give you a keepsake video which is edited with everyone's gamer names, a recap of the scores, highlights, and who your team's MVP is! Great for bragging and talking ish over dinner after the game is over. It is pricey about $65 per person, but it's not something you'll do every weekend. It truly is a unique experience, because this is the only chain in the DMV. The staff is polite and do a great job of explaining the rules and how to wear the equipment. Still doesn't stop them from having extra long lines on holidays and some weekends so plan ahead. I've never been to, or hosted, a party here so I can't comment on that. My 10 & 3 year old like the place though so I will continue to tolerate it but they are wildly understaffed so it can get a little dangerous with big crowds.

We ended up choosing "Signal Lost" in the VR Escape Room. Sarah and Tre were extremely thorough and they did a fantastic job ensuring we had a positive experience. We had some small hiccups as beginner users and they stepped in at exactly the right times to keep us on track and make everything go smoothly. They achieved the perfect balance of being attentive to us without being intrusive to the experience. Before visiting Rations, we thought a VR experience may be a one-time activity, but our experience was so positive that we plan to return. Rations unequivocally deserves a 5 star rating.

Indoor, Local, Winter Birthday Idea I am a bad friend and…read morehad to come up with a last minute birthday party for some friends last night. We did the escape room at Rations Spaceport and had so much fun! Me and my friends all have January birthdays, which generally suck. The escape room was indoors, challenging, and engaging. We had a 13 year old with us who had a blast. It's family owned, and Sarah they build the physical rooms them selves (so creative and well done)....but oh yeah, they also have Virtual Reality escape rooms too (can't wait to try those). I am also excited to try the John Brown room. Would be a great place to take out of town guests. We're definitely going back!

The staff was super helpful and I needed the help because I needed some refreshers throughout to remember how the remote control works. It was really cool to feel like we were actually in the space of the escape room. We did the prison room and I thought I was actually in a prison which made the experience feel more real. My headset stopped working a couple of times but that was towards the very end and it was quickly resolved. We were offered the opportunity to extend our time. I did feel a little bit of motion sickness but I also was having eye issues that day so not sure if that was causing the VR or my eye situation.

They did an escape room and all of them enjoyed it. That said, they clearly needed an adult with them to help (thankfully, Dad was there to the rescue). Perfect low-planning party for 6 kids and reasonably affordable.
