Natasha Fray, the owner and artist was effortless in navigating between various levels of skill. Her introduction and directions throughout the experience were clear. I felt at ease because when people had "oops" moments, she never panicked with us. As a matter of fact, she really didn't see mistakes because its art. She had a way of listening to the buy-in of the painter to help the painting reflect their vision. She could fix anything. I loved and stuck with the colors of our painting. However there were others who desired to use colors that matched their home decor. Natasha helped them mix the right colors to get the background they wanted. I was very pleased with my painting. Booking the class was pretty easy online and they even offer discounts at check out so don't let the sticker price scare you! The only thing that bothered me was that the paintings don't offer a level of difficulty, I chose a picture for my party who hadn't done a painting before and it was a doozy! The atmosphere was really nice, a tight fit but completely do-able and made it more interactive (juggling a drink, a pallet, and brush!) The instructor was fast and for good reason this picture is hard! He was projective and fun. I wish he has a microphone head set and maybe up higher for us all to see what he was doing better. He moved fast, there was a lot to do in two hours. Overall I enjoyed my experience. Things I wish the instructor reminder us: to paint the edges of our pictures, sign it, and its ok to do things out of he box. He was supportive but had a lot to cover, a rating on the website might help beginners not take a huge jump to try this piece.

Different strokes for different folks..! Pub and Paint is absolutely amazingggg! My friends and I were feeling spontaneous and booked a paint night less than 12 hrs prior. There were available spots on a Monday at The Chesapeake Restaurant so we purchased tickets. The ticket included the canvas, the paint and all the subsequent supplies. This was our very first paint night - ever. I don't speak for others, but I am no Picasso or Van Gogh. Despite my lack of artistic talent, I was pretty excited. We arrived 30 minutes prior to the start time to take advantage of the Happy Hour deals (beer on a Monday, don't judge me!). Food was delicious, beer was even better. Brady, the instructor, was quite friendly and helpful. He was very instructive, encouraging and definitely created a fun and comfortable environment. The class was from 7 - 10 pm and time always flies when you're having fun and constantly having your beer refilled! I would definitely recommend Pub and Paint. This was an exceptional experience and I would do this again soon! Experiences like these remind me just how much I love living in Baltimore!

Then, on the morning of my daughter's party (scheduled for 11:30 AM), the instructor sent a vague text at 6:45 AM saying they wouldn't be able to make it and then never responded to any of my follow-ups. To make matters worse, I couldn't reach anyone at the company. I called, texted, and emailed multiple times trying to see if they could send a backup instructor or at least switch to a virtual format. Nothing. No support, no communication...just silence. Finally, I heard back from someone on Monday, asking if I wanted to reschedule. Because apparently, that's how birthday parties work? This company clearly doesn't understand the basics of customer service or event planning. I regret ever trusting them with something so important. I would not recommend Paint the Town -- look for a more reliable company that actually puts their customers first.

By far, Party on the Avenue is the most inviting and memorable. I have been to POTA twice and both times, have walked away feeling satisfied. A couple of things you should know: 1. The party is upstairs - so if you walk in and no one greets ya... it's because who actually parties on the main floor? 2. The paints provided are legitimate paints. They don't run and it's not the cheap paints you get from these overpriced paint nites. 3. The canvas is flat, which is nice... especially if you want to frame them after you've finished your masterpiece. 4. Amy is so energetic and helpful. She always has a big smile and music playing, so she can dance her way around the paintings. 5. You can bring your own booze. SOLID. 6. These "parties" will last you a solid 3-4 hours, because you're usually relaxing and enjoying your time but you're also painting a more difficult photo usually. 7. The calendar on the POTA site let's you know the "event" days. My favorite, obviously is Paint your Pet night. Everyone had their own apron to wear and got to choose which oils to incorporate into our perfume. O'Laura did an excellent job giving us a brief synopsis on the history of perfumes, but also broke down the 3 layers of scents. The top notes are usually lighter and floral. The middle notes are the "heart" of the scent and tend to be fruitier. And the base notes are the musky, earthy, woody notes that tend to linger in the room after the perfume is sprayed. This really helped me in choosing which oils to include in my perfume. She walked us through balancing the amount of oils to add. In the end, she did play a game with our table of 12 people or so, which I ended up winning and getting a coupon to use at M.I.Y, as well as a heart-shaped pen. M.I.Y also offers a candle making class, which you can walk in for and do not need an appointment in advance. They also sell other products, such as reed diffusers, candles, wax melts, room sprays, and more. They create templates and cut the wood specifically for the project you chose. It's located in a sort of strip mall, so there's plenty of parking. When we entered, we were quickly greeted, signed in, and directed to our table. Before I forget, this is a BYOB establishment. We brought a bottle of wine and glasses. What we didn't know was that you can also bring food. Had we known, we would have brought snacks. Good to know for next time. You might feel overwhelmed when you first arrive, as my partner did, but you'll get help along the way. I chose a clock as my project, and she chose a tray. You'll start with sanding, then distressing the wood (take your time with that part, I wish I'd have done more of that), then staining, then it's time for the template. That part can take some time, depending on the project you chose. Once the template is laid out, you start painting. So many decisions to be made!! It's a great date night event or with a group! Good times. We'll definitely be back. The entire staff was very helpful, especially Lupe!

Wow, I had a great time here! When my sister and mom suggested it I was very skeptical- I feel like…read moreI've done all the "painting" classes and I didn't want to do another one. I was wrong! This was great! The first step happens when you book- you choose your design online. They have hundreds of different choices, from signs to crates to clocks. You can pick from seasonal designs, designs for certain rooms, or designs based on a saying or hobby. Even with my small apartment I could find something that would fit my home well. When you get to Board and Brush, they check you in and have your project set up. You can distress the wood before you pick a stain and, if you want, a painting technique. They explain the options really well and have tons of examples with each different color. After you prepare the wood, you apply the vinyl stencil they have custom cut for you. This step can be tricky, but they have plenty of staff to help. Then you select colors and paint. Again, you need to use a specific technique but they're ready to help you. You remove the stencil and you have a beautiful piece! The process was easy to complete. At our session, we had tons of different people from a child under 10 to a senior citizen over 80. It was a fun environment and I felt like we had plenty of time to work on our projects. In the end, almost every piece was stunning and ready to go up on a wall. This specific location was especially helpful. They helped us add people to our booking after it was full, change our design choice, and gave color selection tips during the session. I would love to come back and make more, and this would be great to do with a bunch of friends.
