Reserved an hour block with my wife to try it out. Seemed kind of silly at first, but we both had a really good time!

It was a great fun day we elected to do in lieu of our earlier planned beach day with my 8 y/o granddaughter and her best friend. My best friend and I (70+ seniors) drove to Arlington, VA from Baltimore on our road trip. We ate fruit snacks along the way!! Then we had the greatest time with the girls at Immersive Gamebox!! Just the right amount of exercise and fun for both age groups!! Lots of movement, laughter, and games! It seems so much longer than one hour. GREAT TIME read more

I wasn't familiar with Immersive Gamebox before our visit. I've heard of similar interactive gaming setups, but I didn't know IGB had a location in Arlington--or what to expect from the experience. I went with my niece and was genuinely surprised by how much fun we had! The games were interactive, challenging, and a total blast. We laughed a lot, got competitive, and I'm pretty sure people in the other rooms (or "boxes") could hear us having a great time. I'm really glad we gave it a try, and I'd definitely go back. If you have kids or are looking for a unique family outing, I'd say the passes are well worth it. One quick tip: Know exactly where you're going before you arrive. I didn't realize the location is on the outside of the mall, which wasn't a big issue for me, but it could be frustrating if you're tight on time. The confirmation emails do a solid job providing directions--if you're driving and parking. But if you're getting dropped off (like I was via Uber), the signage and location can be a little tricky to spot. A minor hiccup, but something to be aware of. read more

Hmmmm, we liked the experience-mostly. It is a great bonding time for families and groups. There was no strict rule about how many could enter the space at one time, so although 3 of us didn't play, we still fit semi-comfortably in the space. We were offered chairs, as well. There are free lockers to hold purses, back packs, etc-use this bonus because these items will be in the way. There is a shelf in the game room for beverages. Here is the skinny: the game is a screen that covers 3 wall spaces. Too many people and they're in the way. We had 9 the room with 6 playing. We did have to constantly move out of the way during play. The staff were kind, accommodating, informative and just super cool! We appreciated being given instructions on the best package and the best games for our group's dynamic. Because it's a screen with no tangible objects, we probably won't go again, but this is certainly a cool experience for one time or to return to if you have huge discounts. read more

We paid $75 for 4 "choose your own" 30-minute game passes because we had never been to Immersive Gamebox. We had difficulty locating it, so we ran a bit late for our original 8pm time slot, and adding insult to injury, we received a $10 parking ticket for some strange reason when it was not paid parking. (We even have a handicap placard, so there is absolutely no mercy when it comes to the greed of whomever owns/manages that parking garage). When we arrived to the venue, it was immediately obvious their air conditioning broke...it was sweltering. The kid at the front desk said we should've gotten an email about it, and I double checked...we did not. Our group of four, which included two teens on the autism spectrum, asked which games were available and what they suggested for first-timers. No helpful suggestions whatsoever. We opted to try the Angry Birds game simulation since it was at least familiar to the kids. Maybe this is one of their older games, but it just sucked. In addition to being super stuffy and uncomfortable in the enclosed room, the graphics were terrible and not sensitive to any movement or touch. Within five minutes, the kids wanted to go. It couldn't even sustain their attention for five minutes. We asked if there was another game available, and there was not. No offer for a refund or a come-back-and-try-us-again (when we have AC) credit. What a monumental waste of time and money. Never again. read more

A friend and I came in on a Sunday afternoon because it was too cold outside to do anything fun. We did a package of 2 games with 2 beverages per game. We played the Squid Games one and the AI Escape Room one. We loved playing both, but the Squid Games one was our favorite! It took us a minute to figure out how sensitive the sensors were that picks up your movement, but we were full-on Squid Game mindset once we had our bearings. That was so exciting! There is a chance to take a quick break between the two games to grab the second set of drinks and to have a bathroom break if you needed one. The drinks were really tasty, too! We tried the sangria drinks: Soft Rose and Smooth Red (there were 2 other ones we tried as well but I had forgotten what flavors they were). The staff at the front desk were amazing. We had a lot of questions, and some questions definitely required some patience. The rooms are definitely roomy for 2 people. We saw a few groups of 4 and 6, so there's definitely room enough. I think the rooms are perfect for 4 but may be a bit cramped for 6. They were also able to accommodate us without reservations, the only caveat was we had a 60-minute wait. This wasn't too bad of a wait, so we reserved a room and walked about Ballston Square until it was our turn. Overall, we had an awesome experience and will definitely be coming back! read more

Played the squid Game and it was pretty great. The place is a little tricky to find, you have to go up the escalalator to find the suite. Well worth the find, Squid Game was like the TV show, had so much fun we extended and played the floor is lava. Clean rooms and equipment. Friendly customer service. Oops, can't believe I haven't written a review! I've been here when it first opened back in 2022 and a few times since then. I love the location. It's easy to get to and appreciate that parking is simple via the attached garage (albeit the garage is interesting and could be the scene of a horror film). There are ample food options as well since this place is nestled in Ballston with the outdoor area on Wilson crawling with restaurants. If you need something quick, fast casual spots and fast food in general are offered in the food court inside of the mall. Now for the actual game review. It's best to book in advance online. Things are super easy and much faster; you also do not have to pick a game right away. So far I've played the Floor is Lava, a more family oriented one with my nephew, and most recently Squid Games with my nieces. Note that the latter is better suited for older kids. My youngest niece who is 5 had a couple of issues maneuvering her avatar during Squid Games. Of the three I played, Squid Games has been my favorite, naturally. Youngest niece kept dying every time she stepped foot. I was telling her to go left go left and she screamed back at me that she hadn't learned left or right yet, then proceeded to get picked off. Game aside, please note you are welcome to purchase drinks from the room. If you are playing a game that's more than 30 mins, note you will need water. There is a lot of moving around. Also note, sadly the water is Dasani so prepare to have your tastebuds assaulted. read more

This was a fun activity to do with our 5 year old. They had a kid friendly game that he really enjoyed. The directions in the game were easy to follow. Duration was a hour, that was plenty of time. Staff was nice and accommodating, we were late due to traffic so I texted the number they provided to let them know and they pushed our time slot back. My only complaint was parking and finding them. We don't live in the area so felt a bit confused. There are not enough signs. But other than that we enjoyed it. read more

This place was really cute! Our families were split between 2 games, Squid Games and Ghost Busters! It was very fun! It puts you in the mind of Escape Room where the team has to work together to pass to the next level. Some of the clues may be harder to figure out than others, but it's definitely a team effort that is a lot of fun. The rooms are small, so it warms up pretty fast because you are moving throughout the game. You have these devices on your head and that navigates you throughout the room. As you move, your "character moves" so if you are trying to catch a ghost, you have to swiftly move to catch it. The game is roughly an hour, but at the 30 Min point, the game stops to ask if you want beverages. It literally pops up on the wall. You touch the wall to make your selection and 5 mins later, someone brings your items. I believe the game is around $50-$60 per person. I think it's a little cheaper for children under 12. We did the Ghostbusters game and it was 4 of us. The rooms are small but they do split the groups at times (ex: the game calls up the blue and green players while the blue and purple players move towards the back). I wouldn't do 6 adults. What a fun experience! When you reserve a time, your group will get their own room. No matter the size of your party, no shared gaming! Note room sizes are max of 6 people. This wasn't quite like VR, instead you wear this visor that has sensors on top. In the room there's cameras that senses where you are in the room for game play. I think this is great for family or friends! Even younger kids there's some games, but I would check the age. Each game has a bunch of mini games to play. Only downside is you don't get a lot of time to understand some of the games. Some of the descriptions and instructions were not helpful, while others were! You really have to listen to the instructions. Who ever ends up going first, has the hardest because they have to figure out how to play! So don't be player one. Some games and solo and you take turns or some a duo even trio! Some are teamwork, while others are solo and competing. Each person gets a stat at the end. We played a 90 experience. 30mins one game, 60mins another. Which I'm glad we did! Got to experience different themes. I've been here twice now and my only issue is that both times after the 30mins game finished, it would glitch and we had to get the front desk to help to set up the second game. It would end abruptly where there was no "finish" to the game. Out of the 4 games I played, my favorite was squid games! read more

I've been seeing ads for this place and wanting to come for awhile. The perfect opportunity came when a friend wanted to hangout but was looking for ideas. We went in the evening without a reservation on the weekend...very risky. This place was a bit tricky to find. More signage would be great that displays the correct name of the company. Ronaldo greeted us and was able to squeeze us in for a 30 minute gameplay. He explained everything to us and showed us the lockers to put our stuff in and then gave us our room number. He let us know ahead of time that it would be a learning curve but once we got it, we should be good. And we really were good once we got the hang of the game. My only gripe would be wipes for the headgear. Are they sanitized after every use? I was a bit hesitant to put it on because there was no evidence that they had been cleaned. If you are germ conscious, I would bring some disinfectant wipes with ya. I know I sweated while playing the game and couldn't help but thing about the previous players sweat now rubbing on my forehead. A+ for service and for the experience. I told her I'd need the spend down by about $12 per head to get approvals, and I was flexible--we didn't need the entire venue. Reasonable, right? Apparently not. Instead of just relaying "sorry, can't do it," her supervisor personally called me--not to build a relationship, but to stage a one-person TED Talk on how they'd be "operating at a loss" if they dared shave another penny off. Newsflash: if your business model collapses over $12 per head, maybe it's not me that has the problem. And if you didn't want to work with me further, you could've just had your perfectly capable sales rep pass along the "no." MY EXPERIENCE- Me and my boyfriend came in on a Sunday for the squid games and had loads fun! His admission ticket came with 2 drinks (alcoholic or soda (btw the alcohol they offer is either beer or seltzer). INSIDE- We were taken to the back where there are more rooms and played for an hour. Its a little confusing at first but we caught on and kinda broke a small sweat!! Btw, they offer lockers to keep your personal belongings in and yes there is a key! LOCATION/PARKING- I'm not too familiar with ballston however, there were two garages... one charges like $12 for an hour and like $20+ for over!!! The other garage only charges $1 for the first 3 hours!!! There are elevators and M2 is the floor you need to go to (I'm pretty sure it's M2 but if not it's M3). From there, there is an OUTSIDE side to the mall... that is where this is located!! Hope this helps because it would've helped me LOL. I did 4stars not because I didn't have fun but because it is a little pricey and the headsets were a little uncomfy/heavy. Luckily we had the 20% off however to play for an hour for close to $100 without the %off seems like it will definitely be a very occasional visit! This was a unique experience that was good to try once but had some flaws. My husband and I did the Squid Games room and we were put into a virtual reality box that had interactive front, left, and right walls. It was a fun, active experience that paid homage to the games from the squid game TV show. The service was nice and they also have free lockers available to store your belongings. Since we were just 2 people it wasn't too cramped, but I could see how this room could easily get too crowded with over 3 people. The VR sensor hat that you have to wear can get tight, so after we finished our 1 hour I had a headache. I also didn't like that the game starts during the tutorial stages, so we were already losing points while we were still figuring out how to play each round. One thing that felt like a price hike ploy was that on the website, there is a ticket that is for ages 21+ and includes a drink and it is $17 more expensive than the ticket that says ages 12-20 that does not include the drink. I did not want a drink, so when I came into the store I asked if we could purchase the tickets for ages 12-20 that did not have a drink, and the lady kindly said that was fine. Why put age limits in the first place unless it was to make people feel awkward about claiming they were ages 12-20 so they choose the more expensive option? It should simply be a package with a drink or without a drink, otherwise someone who is 21+ will not know they can be eligible for the non-drink price point. read more

Such a FUN experience for the big kids (like myself) and little kids out there! Upon entry, we were warmly greeted. We then filled out our waivers and were provided our options for drinks, since the hour session for people 21 years and older includes water, sodas, and or alcoholic beverages. We selected squid games as our option and had such a good time! The only recommendation/suggestion we would have is ensuring there is an option to pause the instructions and include a feature to go back to the game's directions in the event that it was missed. It was one game we just couldn't figure out what we were supposed to do lol so we just lost our way through that session. But overall, definitely a great experience! The room can comfortably hold 2 people, 4 people max especially since the games require to move around a lot and is not big. When we signed up for Immersive Gamebox, there was only one option for my group to sign up and to pay the premium price that comes with 2 drinks for ages 21+ for $57. If you try buying tickets online, it looks like the only option for 21+ is $57 with 2 drinks. They failed to let their customers know that there is also a $40 option as well that does not come with drinks, which makes it look like they are forcing adults/groups to buy the more expensive option with drinks. read more

This was soooooo much Fun!! Okayyy so let's start from the beginning, Booking was an issue at first because my bank thought I was in the UK (somehow there address's pop up as UK based) so my card kept declining cause my bank thought it was fraud. It took a while to reach someone (on GameCube side) about the issue. But after talking to my bank I figured out what the issue was and fixed it. However it took one day for my card to register. I was kinda skeptical at first being as though I had this delay. But let me tell you, this event was wayyy worth the wait. Everything was smooth sailing from Here. From the time I checked in and checked out was great service and a great time. They offer you a free drink (alcoholic drink is mainly beers or hard seltzer) I wish they had better options but I appreciate the efforts anyway. The game we pick was semi easy and a nice group game. Learning how to play wasn't hard (if you actually pay attention to the video... which I clearly didn't do lol) Once I figured out how to play it was ON like popcorn!! It was soooo much fun and a nice exercise activity too. Had me sweating. Overall I had sooo much fun and totally enjoyed this venue. Tip: Park inside the mall parking lot and park on level 3. I have gone 3 times now and am a HUGE fan!! The games are so, so much fun, especially Squid Games. I love the variety of games they offer and their consistency in adding new ones. My only compliant is that the games are 50 minutes and for the price, I think people should have the full hour (or at least advertise better that it is not a full hour). read more

This was our first visit and we will be back for sure! We book the Squid game and had 5 people in our party. It turned out to be a lot of fun. You will wear a hat that has a control on it, so make sure it sits comfortably. You also get drinks with your tickets which is really nice, you can choose between beer, hard seltzer or soft drinks. Each round of challenges was engaging and all of us got to play and test their skills. The room was not too big, it felt somewhat crowded for 5 people but we still had fun. Elijah and Kane were our hosts and were very friendly. We signed waivers and we're explained the game. We paid for an hour of game time. Beverages were not available yet . So, we went to food court for drinks. Each cube has electronic visors so you can be registered as a player. If you are a gamer and love interactive and 3-D experience, this is the place for you . If I could give zero stars, I would. We booked an 11 AM party at Immersive Gamebox Ballston for my son's birthday today, paying over $400 in advance. A group of excited kids arrived on a cold morning at 10:45, only to find the entire place closed--no lights on, no staff, no sign of life. We tried calling, but there was no way to reach anyone. Imagine the disappointment of a bunch of kids standing outside, wondering why a big birthday celebration wasn't happening. This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. If you run a business that hosts events, the bare minimum expectation is that you show up when your customers do--especially when they've prepaid for a special occasion. I have tried reaching management, and so far, radio silence. No explanation, no apology, nothing. This kind of incompetence is beyond frustrating, and I wouldn't trust them with any important event again. Parents, beware--do not risk your child's birthday here. read more

This is a really cool place if you have never tried virtual reality video games before... I think it's especially good for kids and family, I went here with my wife and we got to play with 4 more people so i believe you can have a group of 6 in the same room. We played the game ghostbusters and it was intriguing at least for a new experience. I'm sure kids will love it even more! It's located in the Ballston mall where there is plenty of delicious restaurants around so if you're going to celebrate a child's birthday, I'd say this is a perfect spot! After having some fun in the virtual world, go grab bite to eat just around the corner! However, in regards to adults, I thought the tech was fairly low budget and simple especially when you compare it to a VR experience like oculus. Having said that, there is a great social aspect that classic gaming lacks, and I believe this is a novel and promising concept that is obviously only in its infancy. Once there is better technology implemented to create a more immersive and dynamic experience, I will be super excited to return to try to survive the Squid Games thriller.
