After ordering from ZenTea located in Chamblee over time I like the tea flavors they offer such as Blood Orange Sorbet oolong tea that is amazing when served hot or iced depends on what you prefer. Other teas I recommend is the black decaffeinated vanilla tea, decaf Earl Grey Tea, Rooibos Masala Chai. They have many other tea offering such as loose leaf, tea bags, tea accessories for you to purchase to help make the perfect tea for you in the morning, afternoon and dinner time. The staff here when I order thru the website or in person has always been pleasant, friendly and easy. What an amazing gem! My family took my Mother out for tea tasting as she is a lover of tea. ZenTea offers various classes and tasting experiences but we stopped with a small group for to experiences their tea flights. The staff was very kind and patient, answering our many questions on the different benefits of each tea while also making suggestions on teas to taste. ZenTea has a wide variety of tea to purchase or taste from. ZenTea also has a tea/cafe style menu. I tried their croissant which they toasted for me. There isn't any indoor seating as the shop is small in size but we were able to comfortable sit outside in a covered area while we sipped out flights. They are located in the downtown Chamblee area, which is very walkable. Parking is located on the left side of the building with a few spots labeled for their location or you can do open street parking. Horrible service. Waited an hour for a scoop of chicken salad and crackers which never came and had to fight for a refund. Got our tea but was never offered a comp on it. Owner gave a shallow excuse and did it accept accountability for her employees rude and arrogant behavior. No Zen here! STILL NOT GOOD July 24, 2024 ..... After the response from the owner below, my opinion has not changed. The late offering of a gift certificate was never given willingly or sincerely. It was given to my girlfriend who notified me of it well after the fact and after I had posted to social media. She was accepting nothing less. I had moved on but this response is insincere as I look back through the other 1 star ratings and see your customer service is clearly lacking. My friend brought here for my birthday and we had the loveliest time! Zen Tea is in a charming building with an awning over the front patio. (There are also tables in a garden behind the building but we didn't go there.) Due to covid there are no longer tables inside. Even though it was a hot day in August it wasn't really terrible outside, there was a large fan blowing and a breeze that kept us cooler. My friend and I decided to get the high tea for two. The women there (the owners?) were very helpful in helping us pick out a tea. We decided to try something new and ordered one of the dessert teas, caramel chocolate. It was delicious! So the pot of tea and cups came on one platter then we got a lovely second platter of six scones, assorted preserves and whipped cream. The scones were OUTSTANDING. Truly the best scones I've ever eaten. Not to be missed! They brought us small glasses of ice so we could turn our hot tea into iced tea, which I did after a few sips. There is an enormous tea list to choose from and also other eats: quiche, pimento cheese sandwiches, hummus, etc. Since I had not eaten lunch yet, I ordered the hummus. I received a huge scoop of hummus and a generous portion of pita triangles. It was more than enough for two. We walked around a bit afterwards. There is a great junk shop to the left of Zen Tea and beyond that a bar with a golf simulator. To the right is a casual restaurant with a blue roof serving burgers and sandwiches and beyond that a darling new boutique called Personify with the cutest clothes. On down a couple of blocks is Vintage Pizzeria (one of our faves) and the Frosty Caboose, an Atlanta institution for ice cream. Around the corner is the Crate & Barrel outlet. Go spend an afternoon in historic Chamblee! But make sure you don't miss Zen Tea, it is outstanding! read more

Zen Tea House serves more than 200 kinds of loose leaf & specialty teas plus light cafe fare in a serene setting in Historic Chamblee. Although the building appears small from the outside, it's actually very spacious. There's a few tables in the front patio, a few inside and a bar in the front room, there's also a backroom for large groups and they accept reservations. The front room is filled with tea for purchase and also other cool tea accessories. 200 loose leaf teas is a lot and there tea book is a couple of pages so I would recommend viewing the selection online prior to your visit. Three cafe also had a few items in the dessert case and cookies but I didn't see anything that looked appetizing. The scones and quiche looked old so I decided to pass although I really wanted something to eat. Too many teas to choose from so I went with my favorite, a Matcha tea latte. They import some of the finest Matcha from the Aichi prefecture in Nishio Japan.  The service was welcoming and my latte was delivered to my table. It was just the right level of intensity in flavor and just totally delicious. I think I'll do a tea tasting next time and use the Scoutmob deal. read more

I love love this place! It's a local, small tea shop. Parking is kinda limited but there's a few spots in the front & when facing the building, there are more spots to the left. This is a great spot for a date, for a party like a baby shower or other brunch activity. They have super fun tea classes like tea lattes we did one day. Connie is the owner and she's super sweet & knowledgeable. They have so many teas and pastries! They also have some sandwiches & maybe a couple other food items. We did the tea latte class & you get so much for it, like 7+ cups of tea. They've got over 100+ varieties that they carry in store so something for everyone. I got a peach pear white tea, Connie's choice, Coco rooibos and a few others. I've also tried apple pie blend from a few years ago and the wellness blend but that wasn't my favorite. Tea is served in aluminum pots, in mismatched cups and the design of the place is that of someone's home, not a professional. It's not about that. It's very cozy and pleasant to be in, with reasonable prices to match. The owners are here are asking people if they need any help and the atmosphere feels more like someone's house than a tea lounge. During the last visit, tried their tres leches cake and must say quite disappointed. Large chunks of sugar and not enough moisture to the cake. There is a room in the back with comfy chairs and a beautiful atmosphere where you can sit and enjoy their tea. The tea was great, we had one black tea, one herbal tea, and one green tea. Zen Tea has always been sort of a bucket list item for me, because every time I paid them a visit they were closed! So when we were out and about in the area and realized that Zen Tea should be opened, we made a B line over there to check them out. Zen tea, when you step inside, can be overwhelming with the sheer selection of teas. I asked staff what was one of their more popular teas, and they asked in return, "which class of teas?". Uh....it's probably better to name the store Zen tea and not overwhelming tea, so I get it, but all the same, they sat several tea canisters in front of us to smell. We ultimately settled on a 24 oz pot of Connie's Choice ($6.50), and we also got a slice of quiche Connie's Choice had a delicious smell to it. It's a flavored black tea that comes with a slight hint of caramel and chocolate. The tea itself wasn't bad, and the quiche also wasn't bad as well. Customer service was a bit slow. Somehow our table got lost in the shuffle, and tables around us were served much sooner than we were. The main area of the store is their general purpose tea room, but there is a dining room with art work on display. They do have artists come in and entertain guests and to get those times and how frequent they may be, you just have to sign up to their mailing list. Located off of Peachtree Road, in Chamblee, parking looks to be impossible in the front, with a strip of 3 or 4 spots in front of the store, and another strip of about 4 spaces along the side. There are more areas to park in the back lot though. So yea, Zen Tea finally happened for me, and it was a nice alternative to all of the coffee shops around. If you're a tea person, or even if you're not, they definitely have you covered. With their own in store deals, as well as a groupon from time to time, you can stock up on gifts for others or yourself. I walked away with just an A-OK experience, but I may pay them another visit or three in the future! read more

ZenTea is a true tea aficionado's tea shop. This store sells and serves over 200 (I counted) different kinds of tea -- quite an impressive amount. The business is located in its own standalone brick building along Chamblee's Antique Row. Free parking is available in front and on the sides of the building. Along with selling loose leaf tea, tea bags, and matcha tea, the business serves light food (e.g. sandwiches, quiche, salads, soups) and has a display case with fresh pastries, cookies, cakes, and other desserts. Also for sale are teaware such as mugs, cups, tea sets, and teapots, and accessories like canisters, filters, spoons, and strainers. Like everything else on Antique Row, the building is old. The front of the store features a tea bar, some table seating, and shelves stocked full of tea, teaware, and accessories. The tea bar can seat less than a half dozen people. Tables just inside the entrance and out on the patio can seat up to about 10 additional. In the back, there's a room that can seat between 30-40 folks. It's great for groups. The tea room is known to host several group events. There is a single unisex restroom. This isn't a modern tea bar, but more of a traditional, cozy, homey cafe. It's quiet in here unless there's an event going on. The atmosphere is casual, peaceful, and calm with soothing, meditative zen type music playing in the background. There's free Wi-Fi. There are just so many different types of tea to choose from including caffeine-free herbal and herbal ayurvedic made of herbs, fruits, berries, and nuts; matcha, green and green organic; black, black organic and black decaf; white and white organic (less caffeine than green, high antioxidants); mate (a.k.a. yerba mate, a caffeine-rich tea from South America -- I first learned about this tea from Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker), chai (from India), Pu-erh (fermented and aged Chinese tea), and oolong; plus rooibos and honey bush (herbal teas from South Africa). In addition, high tea (tea with finger foods) is available daily by reservation for $24 per person. Each person gets their own teapot and multi-tiered tray of food. I've tried a few of the iced teas ($2.50 each), iced lattes (~$4 each), a hot tea, plus some of the foods. Overall, good stuff. The iced teas I've tried include the Sencha Green Tea, Black Ceylon Apricot, and Orange Grove Vanilla. These were special teas of the day written on the small chalkboard by the register. I can't say I prefer one tea over another. I found all three to be equally subtle in flavor and refreshing. I do prefer the iced lattes to the iced teas only because I've conditioned myself to sweet and milky coffee and teas over the years. ZenTea's iced lattes are made with ice and soy milk (almond milk is available for 50 cents extra) and are sweetened with agave. Of the iced lattes, I've tried the Matcha Green Tea and Black Chai Latte. These are terrific, lighter, and healthier alternatives to the overly sweet and more highly processed lattes from places like Starbucks. I highly recommend them. Other iced lattes ZenTea offers include a Thai Latte and a Mocha Latte. The hot tea I've tried here is the Silk Earl Grey tea, a white tea. Menu description: "Incredibly smooth white peony with bergamot Earl Grey oils." Bergamot oils come from the rind of the bergamot orange fruit. This is indeed a light, smooth tea with fresh, pleasant floral notes. Unless you order a latte, I believe all teas are served unsweetened. Various sugars, syrups, and sweeteners are available for you to sweeten your tea yourself. The food I've tried include the Red Velvet Cake and various gluten-free cookies. Most cakes run about $4-5 each. A serving of the Red Velvet Cake is like a giant cupcake. It's moist, flavorful, and delicious. It's rich, but not too heavy, which I like. The cookies I tried were alright. Maybe I will like the cookies with gluten better. Cookies cost about a buck each. Service is excellent. At ZenTea, after placing your order, you're given a number which you take to your seat. The servers bring the orders to the customers. I've found all the servers to be friendly and polite. LOVE the two tea choices I selected: * Cherries - mix of rose hips, cheeries and floral petals. It has a light floral fruity flavors. * organic chocolate fruits - chocolate bits with fruits. Best to go with the desserts. It has a fragrant chocolate taste. The high tea option provides plenty of food for a person. We've got scones (blueberries and raspberry), along with fruit preserves / fresh creams; half chicken salad croissant and cheese sandwich; a slice of quiche and ended with sorbert and some cookies. We really wanted to come here for a formal tea tasting but couldn't do it during their normal times which are later in the afternoon (3 and 4) on the weekends. I'm glad we still stopped by to taste a few teas! It was hard convincing my friends to try this out with me, but they really enjoyed it. We got two mini flights of tea which were $12 each. This gave us the chance to fast test teas such as "gunpowder" without committing to a large pot or buying leaf tea. This was plenty to split between 4 and honestly would've been fine to dokie with more people. We ordered a medium pot of masala chai tea, which was enough for two people. I also asked for a side of half and half. The tea was tasty! The interior is a small tea shop, filled with tea knick knacks, tea leaves and tea bags. The teas are pretty pricey, but I'm not sure how expensive they are in relation to other tea shops like highly franchised Teavana. While we were sitting in the shop, we could feel the zen-like atmosphere washing over us, through the background music and the quiet nature of the shop. Regardless of how they heated it, it was not flaky toasted as I would have preferred. I've gotten a matcha green tea here many months ago and remembered enjoying it quite a bit (or just the company/novelty). I will be back to try the drinks and review it more fairly. I also plan on taking a tea class. There is not a lot of seating, less than I remembered. Today, there was one high table top for two, and a pair of tables with two chairs for each table. There is also "bar seating". I know 6 people were signed up for the tea class, and each had their own stool. I believe there were also extra vacant stools. There's a small table with two chairs outside as well. I was first introduced to Zen Tea during a trolley tour run by We Love BuHi in the fall of 2016. I got to hear from the owner about why she started this shop, the history and production of tea, and the health effects of tea. At that event, I got to try 6+ different teas along with clotted cream, and I was instantly sold on a chocolate rooibos I got to taste. My husband bought me a mint chocolate rooibos, and it is now my very top favorite tea ever. It goes beautifully with heavy cream, and my husband and I often make ourselves a pot for winding down with in the evenings. If you are looking to get into tea, this is a great place to taste and learn from people who know their stuff. You'll find hundreds of loose leaf teas of all different kinds and flavors to choose from. There are also some tea accessories to buy, too. I haven't gotten to go for high tea or any of their other sampling packages yet, but this is a quiet, peaceful place to enjoy a pot of tea with your friends. I am a loyal fan of ZenTea, and my loyalty became even stronger this year when I ran into a problem with one of my bags of tea. I reached out to the owner, and she not only replaced my bag with a fresh blend of tea, but she went above and beyond and sent me a gift card and handwritten note apologizing for the issue. As if I wasn't a fan already, I'm diehard for ZenTea now forever! There is a small parking lot on the side of the shop. There's a restroom inside and a large room that's reservable for parties. I hosted a high tea party at Zen Tea this past Saturday to celebrate my birthday. I researched multiple tea houses in the fall. I called Zen on a Sunday and spoke with Stephanie. I asked a few questions and she began telling me about the location, options, and cost. She was so friendly! The cost was almost half of other tea houses and I had more options on times. I stopped by a month later to see the private room and paid the $75 non refundable deposit for the private room for a 2 hour high tea. The private room requires paying for at least 20 guest. Guest can pay for themselves the day of but the host agrees with the deposit to pay for at least 20 if less than 20 show up. I was told the room can hold up to 25 comfortably. I was able to choose what time I wanted my high tea to start. Since they close at 5 on Saturdays I decided to start at 2pm. The room rental includes time to set up before event. I was told to call with a headcount a few days before the event so they could purchase food. A few days prior to the event I called with a headcount. We arrived about 25 minutes before the event to set up. As we walked in with decorations and fascinatiors the staff knew who we were and led us to the room. The staff had the room blocked off and the table settings prepared when we arrived. One thing that bothered me was that the table cloths were black and the side tables had red cloths. When I visited and in pictures the table clothes were white or neutral colored. Not the end of the world, but I felt it gave the event a different vibe. Stephanie introduced herself and offered us water while we were setting up. There were two staff members managing the tea house. They both poked their heads in around 1:45pm to see if we needed anything. Guest began arriving a few minute before 2pm. Around 2:15pm I realized an employee did not start the high tea service. I asked my sister to go out to the main floor and ask them to start. They came in within a few minutes to start things. Throughout the event there were in and out but at times larger gaps they were missing. I could tell the main floor was pretty busy. I cannot tell if they normally only have two people working. At the end of the event we saw an additional employee who mainly cleaned up. The gaps were not awful, but notable. Right before 4pm they started serving dessert and the last pot of tea. Since they were delayed in the service Stephanie gave us an additional 30 minutes which I really appreciated. High tea service: Choice of 4 teas. Each guest had their own tea pot. First course -scones tray. Blueberry and raspberry scones with 3 types of jam and sweet cream. Second course - sandwich tray. Chicken salad on croissants with a piece of lettuce and pimento cheese sandwiches on wheat bread. Third course - quiche tray. Spinach quiche. Final course - dessert. Each person received their own dessert plate with a macaroon, tiramisu, chocolate pastry, and sherbet. I brought petite fours for my guest which they included in the dessert plate. The high tea was a lot of food. It was truly a meal and worth every penny! The tea and food were delicious! I suggest Zen Tea's high tea for anyone considering a high tea event in metro Atlanta. Just to clarify, for the area this may totally be a 5. This is coming out of comparisons to tea shops in major metropolitan areas, several of which are owned and operated by Brits or trained chefs. So take this review with a grain of salt (or sugar as the case may be). They have a very wide variety of teas, which are well organized. They steep for you, which limits your ability to steep to your own strength but also garuntees you won't choke on a cup of acid because the tea was left in too long. The cups are a little small, particularly in the handle area, and they don't have heavy cream (half and half only) and they have whipped cream instead of proper clotted cream. However, it pairs decently with the flight of jams they offer. The garden is lovely, very calm, quiet and dare I say Zen (mission accomplished there) except for the racket of the air conditioner whirring away. I enjoyed it more than 2 of Los Angeles' Chado locations (looking at you, frozen scone in Little Tokyo), but if you're looking for an authentic high tea experience I'd probably look elsewhere. Value for the money is excellent, and the shop has an extensive supply of tea and tea paraphernalia, so definitely come here to shop id you're a tea head in the area. read more

I cannot add much more here other than I love this place. I am about 4 blocks away and have fallen in love with Chamblee living. This tea shop adds such flair to the downtown area of this slowly-wakening ITP Atlanta suburb. I have been here on more than a few occasions and feel more qualified to share my opinion at this point. As a matter of fact, I am sitting here now, sipping on a very refreshing Iced Wild Strawberry Black Tea. I have been here for a tea tasting, which was fun and informative. The night that I was here, there was some yoga event also happening, which did cause some delay. But the two ladies that I always see here were attentive and apologized for their divided attention. I love having my expectations set and will rarely get upset about not being the center of the universe at any place, as long as it is explained to me in a sincere manner. This will always happen here. That evening, I got to try a variety of green teas and some other ones like Black Chocolate Chai and White Lemon Lemongrass Ginger Tea. A dessert was even included. If you want to acquire additional information about teas, look up their calendar to see what other tastings are available. You won't regret it. I've tried the Iced and Hot Green and Chai Tea Lattes, which are prepared with soy milk and are quite yummy. I've bought loose tea, with my absolute favorite (so far, of ALL TIME) being the Almond Oolong. I was here just a week or two ago to pick up one pound of it. I was standing behind the lady scooping it out for me and it was all I could do to hold myself back from shoving my face into the tin. I just kept my distance (by now, I instinctively know the right amount needed for American personal comfort) and sniffed as hard as I could without making my deep inhalation too audible. Oh, and as I walked to my car with tea bags cradled in my arms, I just ran into Drew Scott of the Property Brothers. No big deal. Yeah... If you love teas, you need to visit this unique place. There are so many different kinds, I am sure you will need to return numerous times to satisfy your curiosity. Zen Tea does a good job of creating a tranquil atmosphere for people who want to sip tea in peace or study. When I went to place my order, the woman behind the counter spoke to me in a library tone of voice. She gave me a look that suggested I do the same. That said, I was there with a party of 15 or 16. We sat at a community table in the back room to talk and laugh for almost three hours. The shop employees left us alone and never shushed us even when we got loud. So even though most customers are there solo, I'd say Zen Tea is good for a large group too. On the day I visited the only options were red velvet cupcakes and key lime pie. Although I like them both I would have liked to see more of a selection. I picked the pie and it was just ok. It wasn't bad but it didn't wow me. I did think it was a nice touch that they served it on a pretty blue and white tea plate. I also ordered a glass of the day's special, Orange Grove Vanilla Iced Tea. I figured it would be sweet but instead it was unsweetened and tart. Even though I liked its subtle vanilla-orange flavor it's not something I would order again. Based on the items I tasted I would give Zen Tea three stars. But I'll give an extra star for the tea shop itself and its employees. On this visit I didn't get to explore their huge selection of loose teas and that's worth a second trip. read more

I'm loving the new growth and expansion happening in Chamblee, and ZenTea is without a doubt one of the highlights. It's an adorable, very quaint cafe featuring tea. Real tea. There's a huge menu selection of all the brews/flavors you can imagine - both hot and iced, they also sell loose leaf tea and a variety of teapots and infusers. In addition to everything tea, there's a nice selection of pastries - cookies, cakes, scones - as well as a few croissant and sandwich options. I've thoroughly enjoyed everything I've had off the menu - the carrot cake: delicious, the cookies: yum (and such a bargain)! The tea is the star of ZenTea however, and the deliciously crafted beverages will be the reason I keep returning. I've had the Matcha Green Tea Latte - hot and iced - and there's no wrong choice, both delicious, and the best version of a green tea latte I've had yet. My last visit, I deviated from the norm and ordered a Matcha Lemonade (Iced) - it was love at first sip. The combination of green tea and the sweet tangy-ness from the lemonade are lovely together - and I love that the staff uses crushed ice. ZenTea is also the perfect study joint, it's fairly quiet; even when its busy, the patrons tend to keep it down. I remember my first visit, I opened the door a little too loud and all eyes were on me. I've learned though, and ZenTea has become my peaceful, Chamblee oasis. read more

Very quaint little place with sunflowers blooming right outside. The chicken salad is AMAZING as is the goat cheese pesto. I have had both the hot and cold teas and found them quite enjoyable. A pot for 2 was more than enough. Free wifi. Lovely scones and pastries. Just enough crumble and not too dry. The ladies are quite friendly and are always chatting me up. I really enjoy this place. It's quiet with soft yoga music playing in the background. I like this place more than the typical Asian bubble tea places. I really recommend the tea tasting they have. You can check their website for different tea tastings each week. Tea tasting comes with variety of tea for you to taste depending on that day's theme. They also serve you a piece of cake (varies) with Sherbet (varies). Great delicious combinations. They also offer light food you can order for lunch. I had their chicken salad on a crossiant. It was the best I ever had. Kitchen typically closes early so make sure you get there in time if you want to try it. Pro: -Service is always excellent.
