Holy freaking moly. Hands down the best fried rice I've ever had. I'd come back for just that. In fact, I came for lunch today with my daughter and liked it so much I brought my mom for dinner. The Jasmine tea is delicious. The dumplings are 5 stars. Clean, great service, convenient location. Will be back.
One of my fav spots in Jax. The food is fire and so is the playlist. It had me singing between bites. We got the chicken soup dumplings, potstickers, chili dumplings, and some of the noodles. The chili dumplings were our favorite along with the noodles. Everything here has such good flavor! I want to try the soup dumplings that includes all the different meats. We also got some green tea and boba tea, which were both yummy as well. I believe I got the mango one that I really liked. The vibe is cool in here and the service is good. Definitely add this to your list to try if you haven't!
Cool little place located in an area surrounded by other restaurants. Modestly appointed with a couple of large screens looping pictures of menu items. Service was fast and friendly. QR code menus provide pics of the food along with prices. You order on a sheet in what I would describe as sushi style. Pretty simple concept. We started with edamame which came out fast. Chicken karaage followed close behind and I felt it was well executed. We asked for some sweet and sour sauce as none was served with the chicken. I found that kind of odd as I've had it served with a ponzu or spicy mayo other times at other establishments. The Mongolian beef was very good but my only complaint was the portion of beef in the dish. It's been like 100° lately so we weren't in the mood for soup dumplings. We'll have to come back when the weather is a little cooler. Overall a good experience.
We were the first to arrive when they opened and our server was amazing that day! She gave us all the good recs and really took the time to get to know us and make our experience so positive! The restaurant itself is very spacious and clean and inviting. Lots of fun decorations and art on the walls. We ended up ordering a few things, and we ate most of it before remembering to take pics lol. The dumplings were really yummy, but also honorable mention for the stir fried noodles with shrimp!! So good.
This place wants to mimic Din Tai Fung but falls short. But it's still a solid place to get soup dumplings and bao. I had high hopes for the beef scallion pancakes but the beef was chewy and not tender, not very flavorful. Would pass on that dish.
Second time here. First time had the soup dumplings and it was good. This second visit was even better. Two of us had lunch and shared short ribs(amazing), string beans (the best string beans ever), Mongolian beef (delish) and scallion bread- least flavorful item but dipped in soy vinegar and pepper oil. I can't wait to go back and have the same all over again!
What a great spot, really something different and delicious. My first visit did not go well, because I had no idea what I was ordering and the white staff wasn't that helpful. However, my second visit with my daughter, things took a turn for the better and we had a wonderful waitress who walked us through the menu and we loved everything that we got.. The restaurant is located at a strip center near Baymeadows Road and Douthside Blvd, with plenty of parking. The dining room is clean and they have icons on your table so you can pull up the menu. So here are some notes on the food: Tea - I drink hot tea and they had delicious choices. Green beans - trust me, ORDER THIS DISH, so good. Soup Buns - we had shrimp and pork and thought they were great. Steamed Dumplinfs - we tried tge veggies and I think they were great. Wok - great choices, but note these are full portions, so it is a lot of good choices On my first visit, I ordered wrong and regretted it. The next time, I engaged the waitress snd she made great recommendations rations. It was like a night and day experience.
The good- chicken karaage is AMAZING. Crispy flavorful outside, tender and juicy inside. Cooked to perfection. This tapa plate is worth the visit alone. The fried bao bites were flavorful hot and juicy. Mongolian beef was very tender. The service was friendly. Could improve- the server didn't seem knowledgeable on the menu. The beef pancake was a cold dish. This wasn't on the menu and the server didn't inform us. The pan fried dumplings just didn't look like any of the photos on any other review or on their menu. And the taste was "off." Trendy little restaurant that reminded me of restaurants I've visited in Japan and Korea. Worth the visit.
Had Zen Dumpling delivered and it was so delicious!!!!! Well their dumplings were at least. The green beans were delicious as well but the Mongolian beef was too sweet. I have also gotten the cucumbers, celery and mung bean, and dan dan noodles here that weren't very good. None of those dishes had much flavor, but I will come back again and again for their dumplings!!
Good dumplings and love that they make it in house. Ordered beef rolls and it came out cold. Not sure if that's how they do that here but the beef rolls I've had in the past have always been warm and crispy so that was a shock. Clean and esthetic look of the place. Service was good. Not over the top but cup was always full so I can't complain.
We went here for a birthday party and everything was great. I got the dumpling sampler and they were all good. The truffle one was my favorite though. Got to sample a couple of other items, the zen chili wontons were good and so were the sweet and sour ribs. The wait staff was very accommodating for our somewhat large group, and the food came out quickly. I would definitely do that again especially with a group because the menu lends itself well to doing a family style dinner with sharing.
We ate here last light and really enjoyed it. We ordered too much food but we really wanted to try everything. We also didn't realize that the main dish came with white rice. We had Mongolian beef, general tso chicken, noodles and chicken, fried rice and chicken, spring rolls and soup dumplings. I'd stay away from the noodles as they tasted weird but the rest was delish. Would def go back. Also, the waitress was lovely and the place looked clean.
Delicious dim sum place! They soup dumplings were the best I've had in Jacksonville. You order "small plates" and you share with the table. We wanted to try a little bit of everything and we got full so quick! The food came out pretty quick so that was nice. Dan Dan noodles was a little too spicy for me, but everything else was delicious. The soup dumplings is a must try. Keep in mind to poke a whole in the dumpling before eating it or else you'll burn your tongue. Plenty of parking its in a plaza
So glad that I finally made it to try this restaurant! it's only been open about a year and I've heard good things... I have to say I was very impressed by the decor and the ambiance felt very upscale elegant (but not too fancy) the service and the food were both excellent and I can't wait to go back and try more things! We had the bao bites, house fried rice, hot and sour soup & spare ribs... the only one I wouldn't order again is the spare ribs they seemed a little bit old possibly but I know I might be picky. Anyway you definitely need to come with several friends so you can order a lot of dumplings and such to share! The prices are a little bit higher than I wish but the quality is worth it! read more

Great service and delicious fresh dumplings in this very clean cute restaurant. I love that they have a video loop of all their delicious food so it is easy to make the right choice. We came late afternoon and by the time we were done it was packed so maybe go early. Great place to take the kids! read more

We had such a blast here. Great to come with a group and just order a bunch to share! They have a glass window where you can watch the chefs make the dumplings from scratch. Very clean! Everything was delicious. Highly recommend the garlic green beans & spicy oil dumplings.. skip the pan seared bao buns (too much dough for me but still fun to try) read more

I dined in for the first time with a friend. The service was fast and the restaurant was moderately busy. We got the scallion pancake, sweet rice shumai and Suan La potao (not pictured) for starters. The potato starter was cold which was a surprise but good. The sweet rice shumai was well liked. The stir fry noodles were hot and had a good amount of vegetables and sauce. The Mongolian beef was a little spicy but not unreasonably so. They were out of vegetable dumplings and had very few vegetarian friendly options available otherwise. As a vegetarian likely wouldn't dine here again without checking that the only vegetarian dumpling option was available first. My friend enjoyed all her dishes but agreed it maybe wasn't worth the price tag read more

Love me some soup dumplings!! We devoured a sea of dumplings of all kinds plus enjoyed the Mongolian beef. The pork soup dumplings were our favorite and the Shanghai pan fried dumplings has the best flavor overall in our books. Definitely will come back to try more. read more

Came to visit Jacksonville and our fam brought us here! Yummy! Loved the decor, the chill casual ambiance and loved the service, but what I loved most was the dumplings! We ordered just about every dumpling on the menu. They were all delicious, completely hand made in house but my favorites were the truffle dumplings and the crab and pork dumplings. These two bar far had the most flavor! Don't be scared to add the chili oil, it actually tastes amazing and is not too hot but full of flavor or will enhance a flavor! We look forward to visit again but we wish they offered more dessert options besides ice cream. Looking for something new, casual, and authentic? Stop by here, it won't disappoint! read more
Zen Dumpling is a new Asian restaurant in the area and Loan chose this place for our monthly dinner. Goldie, Dorcas, and I were ready to try something new and it made for an interesting evening. Sometimes, when restaurants are new, service can be a little confused and some mistakes can be made on orders, among other things. I will say up front that this is a very attractive restaurant on the interior. A lot of work when into making it have such a welcoming feeling upon entry. The center area seating and tables were wooden. There was some padded seating along the front of the shop and back end. There were a good number of customers visiting on this evening. And so began our own UYE once again! I will say the servers did their best, but did confuse my order as I verbally ordered Mongolian beef but received General Tso's chicken instead. I know how the miscommunication happened, as Goldie had just ordered that for herself. But I like GT's chicken, so I didn't take anything away rating-wise from the servers. She did very well for the most part. I will say it was vastly under-spiced from the medium I requested, and for that, I will take a few points off. Dorcas ordered a nice soup/dumpling bowl. When you receive it, you actually find out quickly the soup is inside the dumpling. It is very good! But if you want veggies, you'll have to order them separately on this one. It did come with rice, as did the General Tso's chicken orders. Now we must have a little sympathy for Goldie who had occasional droplets from the ceiling fall on her head! We gave her options to relocate, but she decided she wanted to tough it out. It certainly gave us a few laughs on the evening! But certainly this hot weather can cause some condensation in the ventilation system. I would say the owner should have a look at it to prevent it in the future. It's great to see customers in the area giving Zen Dumpling a try! I found it to be a nice adventure for the evening. Though not perfect, they are good enough for me to visit again in the future. We wanted to come check out this new restaurant serving soup dumplings! Walking in I thought it was quite authentic, our server was the sweetest/ cutest, we tried a few things to sample the menu. My thoughts on what we got: -Spicy cucumbers- simple and tasty! Not overly spicy but flavorful, add some chili oil from the table, very good! -Chicken soup dumplings- these are the first " real" soup dumplings I have tried besides the trader Joe's ones ( which are pretty good!) These were ok to me, very little broth inside and lots of dough -Shrimp and pork dumplings- surprisingly my favorite of the night! They looked plain when brought out but adding a little bit of soy sauce and chili oil brought these to life! Flavorful are delicious! -Dan Dan noodles- we didn't love these, but I had thought that the darker area was a meat sauce, it is not, its actually chili's and oil, resulting in pretty spicy, my lips were tingling! Really enjoyed coming here and looking forward to trying other things on the menu. read more

Dynamite dum sum. If I closed my eyes I thought I was eating somewhere in China town, NYC. This spot is super legit. Wife and I tried an assortment of steam dumpling options. From the cabbage and pork to the chicken and mushroom, fantastic. The show stopper, though, was the soup dumpling with pork. Not an easy dump to get right at most places that offer it. Easily the best I've had in years, let alone in Florida. The price isn't cheap but what is, escpially for a specialty spot? Give it a shot if you're a dumpling fantic like us or just want some of the best dumplings around. read more

Had a great lunch at Zen Dumpling. This place is a God send. You must order the spicy cucumber salad, refreshing with a hint of spice. Their chili wontons are not overly spicy but warming to the soul. Their XLB soup dumplings came out piping hot and are served with traditional ginger and vinegar. They are very tasty. We ordered more food than we could finish but I highly recommend you stop by and give it a shot! Their service was absolutely fantastic. They are properly staffed and this joint is run like a tight ship! read more

We had seen rave reviews around this location and we wanted to try it. As we first walked in the restaurant was super cute and quaint, and had a warm welcoming atmosphere. The staff was super informative and so helpful when we made our choices for what we were gonna have for dinner. We made the choice to choose several different dishes to share for the table and they were all phenomenal. We had the Mongolian beef which by far is 10 out of 10 and the beef noodle soup. Also amazing. With the recommendations of a server, we made great choices around the soup dumplings, and how to properly eat them with the vinegar and fresh ginger. The cucumber salad was also a great starter dish. I would highly recommend recommend this to anybody and suggest asking for suggestions of what to try. Also don't hesitate branching out and trying new things. You won't be disappointed. read more

The food and service is so good!! This is our 2nd visit here. So far both times the food and service have been top notch. We ordered the sweet and sour baby ribs, shrimp and pork steamed dumplings, Mongolian beef and General Tso chicken. Both the Mongolian beef and General Tso chicken came with white rice. The ribs were so tender and flavorful. The General Tso chicken was some of the best we've ever had. Everything was excellent and the portions are large! Our last visit we tried the Spring Rolls, Soup dumplings (shrimp and pork dumplings and also chicken dumplings) and scallion pancake. And those were also delicious, but I prefer the steamed or pan fried dumplings to soup ones. read more

So based on The Scoop Jacksonville - a Facebook group - that is usually the best way to find the newest restaurants, Zen Dumpling is the place to be in JAX for soup dumplings and boba. Since the owner of Season's Dumplings on Old St. Augustine retired last year - there was an opening in our list. Stopped in for dinner tonight and found a clean, fresh and minimally decorated space with attentive servers. Ordering is done on using bilingual picture menus and paper slips. Ordering appetizers or tapas is encouraged. We chose the edamame And the spicy sweet beef short ribs. Both of which were delivered to the table almost immediately. Other reviews suggested the brown sugar milk tea with boba. Love it when you can have your dessert along with dinner! Two orders of the steamed soup dumpling sampler followed in colorful pastry pockets. Picture missing on those because we were too busy guessing if the pastry color gave away the fillings within. Hint: the yellow dumpling is chicken. Zen Dumpling makes a nice change of pace and brings a new international flavor to the Baymeadow area. read more

Coming from Southern California, there is a lot of different asian joints to check out and I have had my fair share of dumpling joints. Coming to Jacksonville, I saw that there was a lot of different dumpling places and saw this one was on peoples radar. We wanted to get a good variety of items that we normally like ordering, so we ended up trying their soup dumplings, their green beans, beef rolls, and their beef noodle soup. My personal favorite had to be their soup dumplings. Their soup was flavorful and the fillings (we got pork and chives) was very standard and tasty. The rest I was back and forth on as they were technically good. They taste very traditional (like the beef noodles) while some were different takes that I have never particularly seen before (like their beef rolls which to me felt like a very Americanized version). Despite all of that, they still tasted decent and my partner enjoyed them better than I did, just not something for my own personal palate. Would def come for the dumplings when here! read more
Tried Zen Dumpling over the weekend with the family and we could not be more thrilled to have a delicious soup dumpling restaurant within driving range. We were hooked on soup dumplings back in Vegas and had the privilege of dining at Din Tai Fung in Cali, and we found Zen Dumpling to be just as good. We had the Crabmeat & Pork, Shrimp & Pork, along with Mongolian Beef & Fried Chicken Noodle Soup. ALL were wonderful. My favorite was the Shrimp & Pork Soup Dumpling. Honestly from the start we walked in and every seat was taken... good sign On the other hand we ended up being seated promptly Our server was the sweetest and super knowledgeable and helped my friends and I choose the best stuff! The food was UNREAL a few things I forgot to snap a photo of of course was my fav the hot and sour soup I was PLEASANTLY surprised and 10000% will order again. SO YUMMY! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and I would definitely recommend Zen Dumpling for your next outing. We tried various soup dumplings, appetizers, and noodles and not one was a miss. My favorite item was probably the spicy chilli wontons. We were seated quickly and service was excellent. The staff are all super friendly and were happy to help with any questions we had about the menu. There's lots of indoor seating (though when we came on a Saturday night, there definitely was a bit of a wait as the night progressed for others) and the vibe of the whole restaurant is very bright yet cozy - I loved it. I believe it opened fairly recently, so if you've been wondering whether or not to try it, I can vouch and say to please do! read more
