Creamy, ingredients listed, good service, made in-house, fresh, delicious overall! Definitely recommend the banana flavor as well as the coconut flavor. Will need to come back!!
Standing in a long line later at night among college students and families during a recent visit to Austin, I was wondering if it was worth it for Zeds and overall, the answer was yes. We tried both their custom ordering and one of their blueberry-based specials and were happy with both. Since there were some in our group that were lactose intolerant, we were not sure how their dairy-free, vanilla-flavored base was going to mix with the selected fruit and how the texture was going to be, but we were pleasantly surprised. Various excellent toppings to choose from as well for both additional flavors and textures. The blueberry-based special was also excellent and was a good combo that imparted a cool relief for a hot and humid Austin night. Hope to get back to try other combo's and options they have at Zeds
Perfect Place for dessert in this hot weather. The ice cream is delicious! I really like that you can build your own or you can choose from the given options. Lots of outdoor seating. Parking is limited but people are constantly coming and going so it was pretty easy to get a parking spot. Ordered the Toasted Blue Coconut And Toasted Blue Coconut subbed Blueberry for Strawberry ice cream and added pecans. They were both delicious. Pet friendly. There are two food trucks and a coffee shop on site!
I can truly say this is some of the best ice cream I've ever had! We went on a Saturday evening, super close the closing, and the line was scary. However, the group in front of us said that it shouldn't be intimidating, and the ice cream is 100% worth the wait, and even gave some recommendations for what to order. Dare I say now, I wholeheartedly agree. The ice cream is so good, it's creamy, delicious, and natural! We ended up waiting about 20 to 30 minutes, the line was all the way through the outdoor dining area near a few closed food truck style restaurants. The lot is small to park, however, you can street park down the road, and it's a quick walk. You'll also be able to vouch for getting to enjoy a larger size than I did, if you park farther down because I wish that small was a medium after we got it. The small we shared, was the vanilla ice cream, with the strawberries mixed into the soft serve. Initially, we thought it would be a topping however your fruit is added directly into the soft serve, which was unexpected but amazing! We also got that with their homemade chocolate sauce, and Oreos. It was so enjoyable in the Texas heat and ended a great night, this dessert is at the forefront of my mind now when I think of Austin, also, the girl working, the counter was super sweet! It was still humid out, and they were putting away the water. She still gave us two ice cold cups for free, which were much needed and super refreshing after standing for a bit. The combinations are endless, but I have no doubt every single one is phenomenal.
I really love New Zealand-style ice cream because they blend real fruit directly into the ice cream, which makes it taste fresh and flavorful. I first tried it at a shop in San Diego and loved it, so I was excited to see a place here offering it too. I visited with my family, and we ordered several items. I got a small vanilla with pineapple, which I was excited to try. I understand they were busy, but I did notice the blending machine wasn't cleaned between every order. Because of that, some of the flavors seemed to carry over. My ice cream had a slight strawberry taste even though I ordered pineapple. It wasn't noticeable in every order, but it did affect a few of ours. While it may not bother everyone, it can impact the taste and could also be something to consider for customers with food allergies or sensitivities.
I didn't look into what exactly this was prior to getting there, people in line behind me so I felt rushed in figuring out what I wanted. My bad....what a neat ice cream concept this is! Fresh fruit, blended into the ice cream. So many toppings and sauces to get as well. We had banana and raspberry, chocolate and caramel toppings, gummy bears, toasted coconut and cheesecake bites. All delicious! The sitting area has plenty of shade, little covered turf area for little ones to run around. Only complaint is all the tables needed a good wipe down, lots of sticky ice cream remnants and food spills. There are a couple of little food trailers there too.
The ice cream was alright, nothing too impressive. I have been to other places that have a little bit more creamy consistency and would prefer them over this place, but still a good spot to come if you are in Austin and wanting to get a nice cold ice cream with fruit blended in and some great toppings.
What a delicious delight that ice cream was the softest jumpiest trip of flavors ! I can't believe it is real fruit ice cream I got the banana ice cream and it had included little chunks of it. Ice cream shop was a full run being a cute corner ice cream shop tucked in a neighborhood shared with other food trucks it felt close knitted. Service was quick too no more than five minutes way less than ten minutes all together but I was here midday.

This was my first time visiting Zeds Real Fruit Ice Cream in East Austin. When I arrived at 11:30 pm, they were not serving ice cream. It appears Noon is the bewitching hour for serving ice cream at this Zed location. I had only been to the Zed's in Tarrytown, which does not serve coffee. I ordered a white blond, which was a latte. The ice cream selection is unique: Pick your size, ice cream flavor (one fruit flavor mixed with either regular or dairy-free vanilla), then you add your desired drizzles and toppings. I ordered the Waffle Cone with strawberry flavor, chocolate + peanut butter drizzles, and cookie dough bites + Oreo toppings. It was quite the size and packed a punch! The wait is about 10-ish minutes after you place your order. There are plenty of picnic styled benches to sit and enjoy your ice cream. Highly recommend!
We only got ice cream twice on our trip to Austin. Zeds was the first ice cream shop we decided to go to and we really were glad we did! The ice cream here was just so, so good! We saw a line going up to the window to place orders in which Steve and myself groaned but we hung in there and they got the line moving pretty fast. By the time it was our time to order I got it all figured out. I ordered Vanilla Ice Cream along with strawberries for the fruit. For additional toppings I had honey and graham cracker crumbs put on top. The fruit was blended into the ice cream and was not put on top like a fruited topping. This was a really wonderful thing as the strawberries were evenly blended and dispersed through the ice cream. The graham cracker crumbs and the honey blended into the base so very well. I was so entranced with this ice cream and loving every bite and enjoying the outdoor seating that this lead up to a five star experience. All flavors chosen had a presence in the ice cream which will leave a very long and lasting impression with me for a considerable amount of time to come! read more

Got Zeds for my birthday treat and have wanted to go back ever since! Think of it as the outdoor ice cream spot you used to go to as a kid but elevated. There seems to be a line every time I drive by but when I went it went quickly and the line is cause the ice cream is delicious! Love that they have real fruit. read more
One of my Austin ice cream staples. I do happen to just love New Zealand style ice cream, and they do it so well here. Amazing flavor, combinations, everything comes out so delicious and creamy. Also got a milkshake for the first time SLAPPED. Yes it is a dollar or two more than a normal ice cream cone, but extremely worth it every single time. The ice cream quality is extremely consistent every single time you go. Often there's quite a long line, but the line moves fast, and it is always worth the weight. We love you Zeds read more
This place was amazing!! The ice cream is so unique, nothing like I've ever had before. I loved how light the flavoring was. It didn't feel too sweet, and the flavor tasted very fresh. The workers are very quick and efficient! Strawberry: This flavor was my favorite. There are small strawberry bits inside, which added a nice texture. It wasn't a strong strawberry flavor, but it was so refreshing. The ice cream also had a light creaminess to it. read more

The line is daunting, but it goes by quickly! There's a reason Zeds is always so crowded - it's worth the hype. It's nice to have a slightly more healthy option for a desert especially for a city that's pretty health conscious. Real fruit ice cream! Very tasty and super fresh- they did get one of our flavors wrong and instead of giving blueberry- we got black berry- my daughter said it was still good so we didn't switch it out, but she ended up stealing my banana pudding ice cream and I was stuck with hers :( the line went quickly, the parking can be a mess here because it's smack dab in the middle of a neighborhood- with the other food trucks surrounding it... we found street parking 2 streets away so it wasn't a far walk.. read more

I had a great time trying Zed's for the first time! I went with a group of friends on a Sunday, and there was a long line. The line moved fairly quickly, and the service was great! The ice cream is a vanilla base blended with a fruit of your choice. There is a non-dairy base option as well!I ordered the Banana ice cream with the Buñuelo Crunch topping. I love how they use fresh fruit-- the ice cream tasted real and refreshing! The Buñuelo Crunch was fresh and perfectly complimented the ice cream! Overall I'd recommend Zed's to anyone looking for a frozen treat with real fruit! read more
I've heard great things about Zed's real fruit ice cream. It's a little stand with outdoor picnic bench seating only, so we were huddled and shivering in the rain while enjoying our ice cream. I got a cup of the blackberry crumble, which comes with blackberry ice cream, graham cracker crumbs, and caramel drizzle. The first two thirds of the ice cream were delicious, then the last third didn't have much flavour and tasted really milky. I got a small cup for $6.50, and it came with more ice cream than I expected. My friends got the banana milkshake with chocolate, and it definitely tasted very banana-y without much of a chocolate taste. read more

I love this concept - fresh fruit with a base ice cream flavor and toppings. There's a variety of fruit to choose from such as banana, blueberry, strawberry, etc. For the base, they have regular vanilla or dairy free vanilla. The fruit and base combine to become a delicious soft serve. There are a ton of toppings and drizzles to choose from. I ordered the strawberry with vanilla ice cream and toasted coconut flakes, which was a fantastic combo. This was perfect for a hot summer day! My friends and I loved it. One of my friends ordered his ice cream with a waffle cone and it was so good! The waffle cone is fresh, thick, and vanilla-y. I would definitely try the other flavors next time! I enjoyed Zeds! I'm not usually a fruit dessert person, but this was actually really good. We were there around 9pm on a Sunday night, and there was only around a 2 min wait. I ordered the blackberry crumble and my husband had a banana milkshake. The blackberry crumble was perfect for me - very light and loved the toppings on it as well. My husband also really liked his milkshake - I'm not a fan of banana flavor, so it wasn't for me but that's just personal taste! Would definitely go back if I'm in the mood for something a bit lighter than my usual rich chocolate desserts :) read more

Love the concept but I think the execution is alright. Came right before they were closing and they gave us a honey bottle to mark us as the last people they'll accept in line as well as 20% (or 15%?) off which I thought was really cool. My friend raves about the strawberry cheesecake here so that's what I tried and it was pretty underwhelming. I like how you pick the fruit you want mixed into the base, and how natural of a taste it has, but I just wish it had more sweetness to it--either from riper fruit or maybe some honey mixed in. I also wasn't a fan of the cheesecake bites as I found the texture and flavor to be a bit off from regular cheesecake. I'm willing to give them another chance tho and see how the other fruits end up turning out. read more
Overall it was a good time. The line was pretty long when I went on a Sunday evening. I placed my order at the window and grabbed a spot at one of the wooden tables (plenty of tables that are shaded). They have a little play area that had lots of kids running around. Super casual experience. There are also two other food trucks on site. I think the ice cream just wasn't for me. You pick an ice cream base, I did vanilla, then choose your fruit mix-in. The raspberry didn't have enough flavor for me to be impressed. The banana was better, but banana just isn't my thing. My friends and I agreed it was fun to try, but it probably won't make it into our regular ice cream rotation. read more

4.5 My husband and I decided to visit Zeds while we were in the area. We parked in the small lot next to the building. We walked over to the building and saw the order window. We looked at their options and asked if we could taste the dairy free option. The man helping us was very friendly and he gave us taster spoons and told us it was made with oat milk. I ordered a small cup of the pineapple fruit, one scoop of the dairy free vanilla ice cream, with chopped pecan toppings. My husband ordered a regular size cup of the banana fruit, two scoops of dairy free vanilla ice cream, with a peanut butter drizzle. After ordering we looked for a place to sit and wait. They have seating in the front of the building, and in the back by the parking lot. My ice cream was really good. It was sweet but not overly sweet. The pineapple flavor was noticeable and the pecan toppings added a nice crunchy texture to the smooth, all natural ice cream. I tried my husband's and the banana flavor was also noticeable. The peanut butter drizzle added a slight saltiness. They were both very good. Overall it was a good place to get some ice cream. The service was good, and the ice cream was yummy. So glad they had a dairy free option. read more

I like that the ice cream mixed in real fruit instead of flavoring, which is much better. Service was nice. Might have to wait a bit if come at a busy time. Ambiance is nice and great dessert place to go after dinner and hang out w friends or family. Add some topping will make this more tasty too. Will be back to try other flavors. read more

Zeds is the best ice cream I've had in Austin. My wife and I loved it. All the ice creams are all natural and made with real fruit. I personally enjoyed the Chocolate Strawberry Cookie. Definitely worth checking out! read more

Such a delicious after dinner treat. The service is friendly. The banana praline caramel ice cream special was a perfect balance of flavors. The ice cream is not overly sweet. Love that they have an outdoor patio to sit and enjoy ice cream with self serve water on the side. read more

Zeds is delicious! I highly recommend grabbing dessert here. You can really taste the fresh fruit in the soft serve. You can customize your order with a variety of toppings. The line is long, but you move quickly. Parking here is awful. There are only a few spots at the front, otherwise you'll have to find street parking further into the neighborhood. read more
