    Americano
    Naomi C.

Tried here to work for a few hours this week. It's so cute in the pictures, I've always wanted to try it. We had neighbors getting construction this week so I worked there Wednesday morning for some peace. The menu is small, but mighty, the service is iffy, and the pastries are store bought and stale. The front of house guy who brings the food and prepared the drinks is awesome, accommodating, and polite. I ordered egg and cheese on croissant, which came with salad and fruit. I also got my standard americano with room for cream. The food was well made, the perfect temperature and had just right seasoning levels. The americano was a bit cold so I figure he'd let it set while the food was being made to run them together. I had asked for cream, it was forgotten, they don't have any Splenda, only sweet n low, and their teaspoons are tablespoons, but the food was good. I also ordered a muffin later just to see what their pastries were about. It had clearly been in the pastry case for more than 3 days. It was REVOLTINGLY stale. I returned and advised and he offered a "fresh one" - from the fridge, in plastic, from a bakery in NEW JERSEY. They'd be better off selling Costco muffins. That muffin was HORRIBLE. Sickeningly sweet, 7 blueberries that were clearly rehydrated in the batter, and tasted like oil and preservatives. Sad. However, I came to work! There were two tables there when I arrived, they left within 15/20 minutes. The bathroom was not clean AT ALL - toilet bowl was gross and it was 10:00 am and they were out of soap and toilet paper. Ewwwww. I pray there was a hand washing sink in the kitchen. Also, the cook or whomever was in the back was watching something on tv, yelling in Spanish loudly, and generally making a racket. This did not make for an easy or enjoyable working environment. The layout is lovely, the chairs are comfy, the tables are just the right size for individuals or small groups (read 2 people) so the vibe is work/co-work, but then the dude is yelling in the kitchen!!! The other thing is, there was NOBODY in the place but me and one other dude who'd long since eaten, and the tables from the other people hadn't been wiped. They were bussed, but not wiped. The floor wasn't swept. It was just a general aura of idgaf but that's young workers in 2023 I guess. The concept is good, but the execution is struggling. I want to hope it's a bad day but who knows. I would try again if I was in the area but would definitely not go out of my way given the parking plus the issues above. Okay, not Great.

Loved our visit to Zed's! Great coffee drinks, friendly service. Terrific back courtyard away from Georgia Ave, sheltered from the noise. Fun, funky atmosphere. Easy on street parking around the corner.

I've walked by Zed's dozens of time but this morning a Yelp'd a breakfast spot and it came up so I tried it! It's such a cute homie spot. The customer service and food are awesome. Mickey recommended the southern omelet!! It was a great choice! Egg, cheese, spinach, tomato and bacon on a toasted croissant! it was delish!! Zed's is now officially a part of my neighborhood spots!!

If you're looking for a cozy, comfortable, and warm environment to have delicious coffee and filling food, look no further! Zed's Cafe is the only place I've found which perfectly blends a relaxing ambiance fueled by the soft jazz playing in the restaurant, excellent service, and affordable prices all in one. Not to mention that you will always be greeted with a smile by the owner. Absolutely visit if you find yourself near Georgia Ave!

Chill spot to work! I'm always on the lookout for a cozy coffee shop to work from home, write on my laptop or just to enjoy a nice latte. The environment feels like a mashup between cozy thrift store furniture finds and some DIY projects. I chose to sit at one of the stools at the rugged countertop made of a couple raw 2x4s. Stools were a bit too tall for the low countertop for long hours of laptop work (what I was trying to do that day) but there were plenty of other normal table/seat options which were already taken. I got a cappuccino with almond/oat milk. They have all the standard non-dairy options. Barista was kind enough to bring it to me. Although it did taste a bit different from other cappuccinos I've had. Could be the beans they used or the unusual milk combo. In any case, open to coming back and trying another drink. COVID content - Staff was masked. Most of the patrons were not wearing masks because they were eating/drinking but you choose where you sit. There is also a back door to an outside patio which is more COVID friendly. Definitely will be back. Perhaps with a friend next time to catch up over a coffee (or beer/wine!)

Zeds cafe is a hidden gem of silver spring - I almost don't want to leave this review bc I want to keep it a secret but it's gonna come out sooner or later! Please stop in and see for yourself why this place is worth your time and money! Ok Ok I'll give you just a bit: (PreCovid experience) The Breakfast Sandwich! Is a must! It was always served with a fresh side salad that was already lightly "dressed"! It was a tastebud tantalizer indeed! That is all***

The setting of this cafe is very cute, cozy, diverse in color & design. It feels like a second home, or a good study spot. I just ordered black coffee with a coffee muffin. (Coffee on top wit coffee! Gotta love the coffee!) Of course both were delicious. What caught my attention is that they serve fruits along with the muffin, which was really cute and nice! I thought this place has very good reasonable prices that I would come here often, but too bad I live a bit far away. But I highly recommend this place for my coffee lovers out there. Keep in mind there is parallel parking on the street. I parked in a hotel parking lot and it wasn't expensive!

Where do I begin, Zeds is amazing. Really one of my favorite places in the area. My go-to is the Caramel Macchiato either hot or cold, the pina colada smoothie & the breakfast dishes are great also. I'm confident it'll be easy to find something you'll enjoy on the menu. I've been going to this spot for quite a few years now & have had the pleasure of meeting Zed quite a few times; very personable guy who usually hires decent/friendly staff. The environment is extremely relaxing & the food/drinks are always consistent.

This place is a nice and relaxing place to grab a cup of coffee and a light breakfast to start the day. I ordered the Southern Omelet and it's so good that it makes you sing whenever you bite into it. The omelet is lightly seasoned comes with spinach, tomatoes, sautéed onions, and cheese on a buttered croissant. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great breakfast sandwich while getting some work done or to start the day.

This place is so amazing ! I loved the food and the staff is so great! The setup of the place is a jazzy vibe and it's good for small talk. You have to stop by and eat here.

Just.What.I.Needed. Let's throw a few things out there, before you even start reading this review. I've been searching for a quiet, calm, and relaxing place to write. Every Starbucks I've ever been to is filled with hipsters galore. It bothers me...so very much. You can imagine my delight when I found this place. The coffee is fresh and delicious. The service is attentive and quick. Nobody bothers you. Wi-fi is automatically available, no need to enter a password. Couches are comfy. People keep to themselves. Music plays softly in the background. Everything is absolutely perfect. The omelets are deliciously fluffy and there's an array of sandwiches to choose from...or do what I do, and order another coffee :) Definitely worth checking out!!

    Macchiato with soy

Zed's cafe is what a coffee shop should be: - Amazing coffee - Intimate & cozy - Great casual vibe - Great, homemade treats & light bites, prepared on the spot - Great service I tried their Macchiato which was amazing. They're in downtown Silver Spring, and there's ample off-street parking within a 2-3 block radius. It's not a huge place so I could see it getting crowded on weekends. Hence, that's why I came during the afternoon when they didn't have any events going on.

OVERALL: The music is great, the vibe is great, the service and food are fine. It's just all about the ambiance at the tables (which is the entire club) and talent on stage! The tricky thing with venues that have a minimum order requirement is I feel compelled to rate them also then on what they're making you do, not just what the venue's real heart and soul is about. FOOD AND SERVICE: I've been here a few times now and the food and service are consistently 3 stars. It's a limited menu with entrées averaging around $30, apps and cocktails generally about $15. Some of what comes out doesn't actually match the description on the menu, which is further disappointment. But that's not why you go: It's all about the ambiance and the jazz music. I've been to some venues that require a minimum order and some that don't. My biggest issue is if it's a rule, it NEEDS to be communicated when you're paying for your tickets. It's currently not, and that's one of my biggest gripes. We first found out about this req only after paying $200+ for our non-refundable tickets, specifically, at our table when we opened our menus to order. (We'd bought 4 tickets as a gift; our friends were on a budget; and half of us weren't drinking, so we'd just planned to share an appetizer or two. None of us walked in expecting to drop an extra $40/person--an unpleasant surprise.) FYSA they also have a silence policy during shows, so if you want to chat, plan to arrive in advance of the show. Wasn't an issue for us and is very reasonable to expect, but noting here since it's also not actually mentioned on the website, and if you're new to the scene, you may not realize that. Just another helpful note to know before you go!

The entry process into the venue was really straight forward and smooth - we arrived about 40 minutes ahead of the concert and were led very quickly to our seats at the bar. They were very well prepared for the event - there were alot of staff, bartenders, and waiters catering to guests needs. The food and drink options were really nice. I had the burger, which was GREAT, and my girlfriend had the brisket sandwich which she really enjoyed too. The fries might've been the highlight of the meal though; they were wonderfully seasoned and fresh. I kept it simple with a bottled beer and she had a reisling - no complaints at all on our drinks. Shoutout to our bartender; she was very attentive even though the space was completely sold out. I like that the majority of the seats in the venue have at least a partial view of the stage. For those seats that are out of stage view, there are plenty of TV screens scattered around and above the bar to give everyone a chance at viewing the stage. I do think that the sound quality could be improved - we sat a little ways away from stage and definitely fought through some distorted or unclear sound. Maybe a speaker or two in the back of the venue would help. Perhaps it was because Destin's show was very popular, but we had ALOT of trouble buying our tickets online. Their site stalled or crashed several times while we were trying to purchase tickets. Would've loved to have a smoother purchase experience. This place has alot of soul; it's a perfect date night spot. Would happily come back again to see other artists, musicans, and vocalists.
