The food was 5 stars! Everything we ordered was so delicious! The ravioli with truffles was the best pasta during our visit to Florence. The main courses we selected were excellent with so many flavors and textures. For dessert we had tiramisu and apple cake, which is so much better than NY. The restaurant is small and very unassuming from the outside, with a set up of seating the diners along the counter and facing the chef/server. There was one separate table near the window that seats 4. The owner/chef, read the menu board to us in English as it's all in Italian. Google translate was not very descriptive or clear. The mom/chef served us dessert and she was a bit more pleasant. I can agree with some of the posted reviews where the chef can seem rude or standoffish. This was an epic meal for such a reasonable price! In NY for this type of quality meal it would easily be double or triple this price.

I have been to many awesome restaurants- but normally Michelin starred food is just too fancy for me. But after seeing the front door of this restaurant... And seen the inside... Let me tell you it was worth every unbelievable fabulous bite.! Best pasta ever!! Super cool looking restaurant great vibe... Unbelievable wines!!! we only sat for lunch... The service was very good!

Tip: menu is written in Italian outside, and you could either figure it out with translation app or take a photo and figure it out while waiting to be served inside. Food is wonderful traditional Tuscany food with a modern twist, such as homemade ravioli filled with cheese (ricotta I think) and topped with pear sauce, and perfectly cooked tripe with tomato. Portion is quite generous thus you only order the primi first. I enjoyed my food and conversation with other customers so much and forgot to take a photo except the dessert, lol. Price is beyond reasonable by American standard. Efficient no frills service. The owner/chef/son will hold up the chalk board with a daily menu and explain for you QUICKLY if you don't speak Italian. And then you are expected to order quickly given there is only one or at most two people working in the front of the house for about 20 seats. He will also recommend pairing wine for you based on the dish, but doesn't have a problem at all if you don't want to drink (my case). While they are busy, you can still get your napkins, wine refills, etc. as needed. It could take a bit to order each dish and could take a bit for the food to come out esp. fresh made pasta so don't go if you are in a rush - this seems to be standard in Italian restaurants. Ambiance is very modern and nice despite a bar setting. People talk in low volume so it is not too loud.

We were brought here by Italian friends that live outside of Florence. Always a good sign. But the food?? As I said to the owner, this was the single best pasta I have eaten in my life. And I've eaten a lot of pasta! I had 'cappellacci del fiori Di zucca' - a pasta stuffed with zucchini flowers and at least two different types of cheese. The sauce was a very light cream with shredded zucchini for flavoring. The dish was so light, so refreshing. Others had the coniglio (rabbit) and the osso bucco. The house red was exceptional. The restaurant itself is super charming. You eat around a common bar, with the owner and his mamma engaging with the guests. We have already made plans to return on Thursday. Waiting an extra day only because they are closed on Wednesday. (For those reviews commenting on the service, see the photo of the smiling man below. This is the affable gentleman that has been accused of being rude and standoffish? That was the opposite of our experience.)

First of all, the owner and all of the staff are very customer friendly and explain the menu to each of them. After the owner explained me the menu list, I chose as a first course the Cappellacci stuffed with pear, pecorino and ricotta served on a pear sauce. This tasted so great that I was tempted to try a second course. This time I chose the Peposo a Tuscan speciality which consists of meat marinated in oil and spices and pepper corns for several days. This course gets you stuffed by just eating it with bread. It was delicious beyond words. I ended up adding two glasses of rose and a bottle of water. This was a great lunch ! I can highly recommend this place.

One of the best dining experiences of my life! Details - this restaurant is all about the details! Everything from the chef walk thru of the menu, every last bite, everything was simply AMAZING! Go early, but do not hesitate or miss one of the best meals you've ever could have!

I don't know if it's slow to me because crazy Americans think everything should be faster than not. So I wish I could give half stars. They are super nice ..,it just took a while to get my order in. The second thing that I don't think they can control is the people who walk around trying to sell you something. They're a bit aggressive. With me looking like them, they beelined for me the two times we sat there near the entrance. So I suggest sitting inside away from that because they can't come in. There is this little cute table that we sat at that is on the edge of the inside but the window is a roll up window giving you access to the outside patio. That is where the can still get to you but can't come all the way in....except this one lady. She stepped all the way in....i was shocked. And got aggressive with me when I told her no thank you. The trick?...they told me "I'm beautiful" "like your natural hair..." and since they liked me, they said "I give to you..." and handed me two bracelets and a fan. I said no thank you and she kept shouting "excuse me...I give to you..." I set them on the table and she gave me the son story of being pregnant and since she give to me, I should give to her for the gift. I said no one final time and she snatched everything off the table and left...FINALLY. Ugh. So not sure if the restaurant can do more but they need to.

We grabbed a bottle of wine on a warmer June afternoon after a day of exploring, which was definitely refreshing. The location isn't much as it overlooks a pretty bare piazza. The service can be a bit on the slower side, especially when I walked in and tried to get the bill. But still if you're able to get a table it's a pretty quaint wine bar. It seemed like they had some flights/tastings, which would have been an interesting option.

Title: Great wine selection, but disappointing service from our server Noemi…read moreWe visited Enoteca Pitti Gola because it was recommended by Wine Spectator, and the wine list truly is impressive -- an extensive and well-curated selection of Italian wines. We were two couples and went for some wine and light snacks. When we arrived, there wasn't a table available for four, so we had to sit separately. Once a table behind our friends became available, we asked to move so we could sit closer together, but our server, Noemi, wasn't very accommodating and seemed somewhat annoyed by the request. We mentioned that we wanted to share a few dishes and asked about portion sizes, but Noemi didn't explain things clearly and wasn't very friendly. She insisted the plates weren't meant for sharing, which turned out not to be true. The wine itself was excellent, and the snacks were good -- but the overall service from Noemi felt unfriendly and not very customer-oriented. I'd still recommend the place if you're interested in trying great Italian wines, but be aware that the service experience may not match the quality of the wine.

November 9, 2024 2:30PM…read more It does appear they have two stalls on the same street that you can order from. One side seemed to have more alcohol on display and the side I was on was more sandwich focused, but I'm pretty sure you can order the same things from both windows. Initially I was going to get the 21 - Fresh Sausage and Eggplant because I'm an eggplant lover... the lady at the counter was kind enough to let me know that the fresh sausage is actually rare, uncooked sausage and gave me a small piece to try. I was getting ready to get on a train that day and didn't want something that might not sit well with me, so I moved on to number 27 spicy salami and cream cheese. My partner got the number 1, ham, cream cheese and rocket salad. Both are very good sized and oh so delicious. The line moved quickly, so many options for decision paralysis. This is the place for schiacciate Florentine as recommended from friends who used to live here. Definitely would recommend to study up their menu before coming so it's easier to pick what you want. This is more of a stall and you grab and go, we stood around the sidewalk and inhaled our sandwiches. Watch out for the pigeons getting ready to take your crumbs too, you can see them on the ledge of the building getting ready to attack. A must visit for Florence.
