This was a very nice and small café we ate at. The folks there were quick to serve us and nice. Though it was a small space, it had a pretty nice view to the edinburgh castle across the street. The coffee was good as was the food. Everything came out fairly quickly, and it smelled great. It has a slice of haggis I've been wanting to try, which wasn't as bad as I expected. It was a full plate with all the goods and wasn't disappointed. I even tried the famous beans and toast I've been told too which the beans were a bit on the sweeter side but overall good. I would definitely recommend coming here and if I come back into town would be paying another visit.

Food preparation is not long, we had a breakfast. We ordered scrambled eggs, pine cake with Nutella and omelette with cheese. Taste is not bad. Family like it as well. If you ask me will i come again, probably yes. Location is not bad as well. All the food is halal here.

My friend and I were ready to get some breakfast to start the day. We looked up places on Yelp and came across Zaza's. We happened to be close by so we stopped in. There was plenty of seating. We sat by the window and had a beautiful view of the castle. Staff was nice and came over to take our order. I got the vegetarian breakfast (menu posted for reference), and a coffee. Everything came out pretty quickly. I'm not a big fan of their beans. I don't like sweet beans, so didn't eat them. Everything else on my plate was pretty good. I'm used to extra crispy/crunchy hash browns and theirs was not what I'm used to. The sausage was okay. I think I would have chosen something different knowing now that what I expect and what I got was different. I did really enjoy my coffee and view. I don't think I'm a picky eater but I did find myself wanting something different. This place is a must try for the view and coffee. I'll let you judge for yourself about the food.

Seriously?!?! So good and this view! Can't beat it!

Best breakfast place in Edinburgh. Tried other places and regretted it. Very nice staff/owners, food incredible, with a view from each table of the castle!!! White coffee was incredible! Highly recommend the French toast!

We went here since we kept walking by it due to location to our hotel. They had the menu posted in the window and had lots of options. We walked in and it was pretty empty. Only one other table. A man came out to help us and seemed surprised by the traffic? I ordered a bagel sandwich (cheese, egg, bacon). Said bagels would come with salad and tortilla crisps. Came with just salad. I also asked for water and got only bottled and wasn't given the option for just tap. The food was mediocre. I didn't like that bacon and come to find out later that I'm not a fan of Scottish bacon. It is not like American bacon - it's more hammy/Canadian bacon. The service was also sub par. We had to track the guy down to pay and get out.

got a scone to go. It was warmed up and with butter and jam. It was the best scone I've ever had. proud. There is also a great view of the castle just outside. And the customer service was wonderful.

American breakfast (near) and a bagel sandwich with 2 cappuccinos.

Great breakfast. And best Cappuccino I've had since being in Scotland...tasty and servers in a hot good size cup. Service was also fast and friendly. Excellent value in a neat restaurant setting.

Reminds me of a typical small town family diner back in the states. Not sure why the one star reviews, it was fine. Fresh food with good service. had the pancakes and an english breakfast.

Egg, cheese, and mushroom omelet. Looks like an egg pizza.

If you're looking for a simple bite then this place will do. We had breakfast here and it was good enough but definitely not anything to write home about. Friendly staff, good service and reasonable pricing. Lovely view of the Edinburgh Castle!

    So simple yet so delicious!

The food was absolutely delicious! My porridge was so hearty and yummy, I wanted to lick the bowl. My spouse's eggs benedict dish was also fantastic, and you can tell they use very fresh, high quality ingredients. The way they serve the meals in little stainless steel lunch boxes is adorable. My chai tea latte with oat milk was fantastically spicy and not too sweet. The server was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and always nearby, so it was easy to ask for our check when we were ready. And the inside of the restaurant had a warm, cozy feel. I would gladly eat every breakfast here the next time we're in Edinburgh!

When it came to ordering, I got an Iced Latte and a Buttery Bap. The menu is a bit difficult to decipher, as it was confusing how much or how little can be added to it and at what cost. The menu said I could only pick one filling, but when I asked I was informed that I could pick an unlimited amount. I'm glad I trusted my instinct and went with just two: Veggie Haggis and Tattie Scones. Both of these were truly delicious. However, there was an extra charge for the second filling. Prices for additions are listed at the bottom of the menu as if they were sides you could order separately. On the receipt, I also saw that I was charged 0.50 extra for ice. I don't understand why places charge extra to make an iced drink when overall you're actually getting less of the drink. Overall, everything tasted good and I'm glad I was able to try numerous Scottish classics.

Slotted in on Rose Street, at the back of the huge and imposing columned Dome buiding, this gorgeous little city-centre oasis is the perfect place to rest your shopping-weary feet and have a tasty lunch. It's only open from april to early september, and although it's tucked down a narrow street this place is a great little suntrap. You can get wraps, salads, soups, burgers, that sort of thing here - not a full á la carte lunch, but the portions are fairly generous so you'll only need one course. The service was ok, but our waiter didn't even bother to bring us our change back. We had been planning to leave it as a tip for him, but we thought it was a bit cheeky of him just to assume, especially when service is already included in the prices. For a salad and a soft drink you'll spend just over £10 a head, which makes it slightly pricier than a lot of other lunchtime cafés nearby, but this setting is just so gorgeous I'd happily pay the difference.

I adored the lime, poppyseed, and blueberry roulade! It was gone before the soup and toastie sandwich arrived. Crispy on the outside and so very soft and tasty on the inside. The cookie pie was impressive, but I honestly liked the roulade so much better. The soup today was broccoli and it was delicious! I had a ham and cheese sandwich lightly grilled in a panini press. Mom had a chorizo sandwich. The ladies at the bakery were lovely! Friendly happy folk always make food taste better! The bakery was quiet and not busy at 12:30 pm. It wasn't empty, just not busy. We got a table for 3! It was funny (and also a sad commentary on humans) that the still water available said "Please turn the tap off." Silly people. Thank you so much for a wonderful lunch!
