Tasty Buns offers... tasty scones, good coffee, good service, acceptable prices and a nice atmosphere.

We stopped in here in the morning for some coffee and fresh scones with clotted cream and jam. Simple meal, done to near perfection. There is a small amount of seating, and it is quite a cozy spot to start your day. Simple meal, simple review. Well worth a visit.

Impressed by the baked goods. Decent coffee too. Adorable name and shop, plus it's on Bread Street. Too much cute. Cool vibe going for now.

Sausage Roll: A very meaty sausage roll. Like it's mostly sausage, with a bit of dough around it. The sausage itself had veggies and herbs in the mix. Perfect if you want a big meal for breakfast. Cheese Scone: Subtle and mild cheesy. I didn't have any butter on hand, but imagine that would make this even better. Twice Baked Blackcurrant & Pistachio Croissant: Loved that there was a nice jam spread in the middle of the croissant. The twice-baking meant it wasn't as airy/flaky as once-baked croissant, but that is easily overlooked since the blackcurrant makes up for it. Frangipane Bar: A really great take on a dessert bar. Perfect if you love marzipan, but don't want to eat one of those weird brightly shaped candies. I liked this so much, I'm gonna look up how to make this at home.

The young lady beyond the counter on my first visit was very friendly and helpful, providing some lovely advice and tips for my trip (including for my proposed visit to her native area of England); if any manager/owner is reading, she gets major props! The gentleman who was working on my second trip was also friendly and helpful z but he was working on the back as well, so there was less interaction. Between my 2 visits, Zi tried a variety of pies, pasties, & rolls, all of which were very tasty (although there's something about a Greggs sausage roll; I'd stick to the pies and pasties here, and walk a couple of doors up the street for one of those.). If I'm ever back in the area z I'll be sure to stop in!

These pies are a great light lunch or snack when consumed by themselves. Or one can get a variety of them and make it a meal. The pies are made fresh daily and displayed in the glass case at the counter along with other British style fried foods such as Tattie Dogs, Sausage Rolls, etc. There are a variety of the infamous pies offered. We tried a Steak and Ale pie and an Original Scotch Pie with brown sauce packet for the pour over. I enjoyed mine (Scotch Pie) and could've eaten a couple more God willing. Along with an Irn Bru, this was a satisfying and affodable meal. Definitely give this place a try when in the area.

I sat at a little table next to the window and was brought my order. The cinnamon bun was really soft and had a lovely flavor. The chai was sweet and didn't have too much spice but I enjoyed it! Overall the vibe of the cafe itself is really cute and they have plenty of baked goods, hot and cold beverages, and savory options to appeal to a reasonable palate. I've been back a couple more times since this occasion to try more baked goods and get a hot chocolate! I've always been very pleased by my experience and will continue to return!

As long as you don't stay overstay your welcome, that is. ;) The OAT MILK CAPPUCCINO was frothy and creamy, but overall it was just okay. Not the best, not the worst, right in the middle. I loved the icing on the VEGAN CARROT CAKE. It was smooth and sweet, but not too sweet. It also had a pop of citrus. As for the cake, I was underwhelmed. It was lacking in carrot flavor and was denser than I'd prefer. However, I did enjoy the big chunks of nuts and raisins. EXTRA: Super cute decor They have a retail section in the front that sells coffee, jewelry, mugs, pens, vitamins, etc. Friendly service Decent size space and amount of tables The bathroom is downstairs "Weekends are lap top free" that's what the sign says, at least Not sure how I feel about this sign: "If busy, please limit your stay to an hour.. thanks for being cool." At least they're honest, I suppose, but still... The food was absolutely delicious! My porridge was so hearty and yummy, I wanted to lick the bowl. My spouse's eggs benedict dish was also fantastic, and you can tell they use very fresh, high quality ingredients. The way they serve the meals in little stainless steel lunch boxes is adorable. My chai tea latte with oat milk was fantastically spicy and not too sweet. The server was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and always nearby, so it was easy to ask for our check when we were ready. And the inside of the restaurant had a warm, cozy feel. I would gladly eat every breakfast here the next time we're in Edinburgh!

When it came to ordering, I got an Iced Latte and a Buttery Bap. The menu is a bit difficult to decipher, as it was confusing how much or how little can be added to it and at what cost. The menu said I could only pick one filling, but when I asked I was informed that I could pick an unlimited amount. I'm glad I trusted my instinct and went with just two: Veggie Haggis and Tattie Scones. Both of these were truly delicious. However, there was an extra charge for the second filling. Prices for additions are listed at the bottom of the menu as if they were sides you could order separately. On the receipt, I also saw that I was charged 0.50 extra for ice. I don't understand why places charge extra to make an iced drink when overall you're actually getting less of the drink. Overall, everything tasted good and I'm glad I was able to try numerous Scottish classics.
