I can not stand this place! I feel robbed of my self control and always over indulge. If you have a sweet tooth, a liking for pastries, enjoy fresh cannoli or are any part human you will no doubt enjoy this place. The prices are extremely low for the quantity and quality you receive. AMAZING!

I'm not really into this kind of shop or mountains of sweet food, but I've given the Sicilian Pastry Shop four stars because I know many people would really like the confectionary it offers. It is quite expensive and if you will spend more in here than in the average baker's, however, the quality of its cakes is far superior to any normal bakery I've been in. The front counter is extremely impressive with shelves, rows and columns full of expertly crafted cakes. The icing on some of their cup cakes was like a work of art, but at 90p each they weren't coming cheap. The service is friendly, the shop feels light and clean and they also make large orders of confectionary for weddings, Christenings and the like. Although not really my kind of place or food, Sicilian Pastry Shop offers top quality, intricate confectionary for many occassions.

This is a great place to grab a bite to eat or to stock up on pastry items, simply because the food here is very good. Not only this, but it is also very good value for money making it affordable to buy a big batch of food from here and it does tick all the boxes. You honestly won't regret buying food from here and if you do doubt me then just try one of the snack items and see what you think as this won't cost you very much. In addition, to what you might expect they also do fabulous cakes for special occasions so if you've got anyone in mind who you want to get a cake for that will be a cut above the average cake you might get, this is the place to come.

Little swans and fruit tarts.

Oh my goodness! Everything looks amazing from the happy…read morecolorful window to the amazing baked goods. I love that Tasty Buns is a bakery on Bread Street. I adored the lime, poppyseed, and blueberry roulade! It was gone before the soup and toastie sandwich arrived. Crispy on the outside and so very soft and tasty on the inside. The cookie pie was impressive, but I honestly liked the roulade so much better. The soup today was broccoli and it was delicious! I had a ham and cheese sandwich lightly grilled in a panini press. Mom had a chorizo sandwich. The ladies at the bakery were lovely! Friendly happy folk always make food taste better! The bakery was quiet and not busy at 12:30 pm. It wasn't empty, just not busy. We got a table for 3! It was funny (and also a sad commentary on humans) that the still water available said "Please turn the tap off." Silly people. Thank you so much for a wonderful lunch! Mom said very good! Very different!

My very first time I came I tried a vegan cinnamon bun. It was warm, soft, and had that sweet caramelization from the sugar on the bun. It was soooo good. After that, I kept coming back about once a week to grab a treat and sometimes a drink. Everything I've tried has been so delicious and the staff is always very kind. If you follow them on Instagram they even sometimes release what goods are in the shop since they switch it up! Tasty Buns definitely became a go to of mine and I think there is truly something for anyone with a sweet tooth!

A high quality bakery only open a few days a week. Small offering, but looks so picturesqe. Looks…read morepretty and tastes good! Gooseberry + Vanilla Cake: I don't see gooseberry very often, so this piqued my interest. Loved how it had a nice fresh tartness, which was a good complement to the sweet and creamy frosting. The cake itself was good too, very fluffy. Jammy Macaroon: Another intriguing offering. I've had many macaroons, but never with jam inside. It made the whole thing a bit unstable, falling part easily, but the moisture and fruit added a nice new dimension. Pain Au Chocolat: Standard, but done quite well. Nice chocolate bits in the center and flaky all around. Vegan Cinnamon Bun: Decent for vegan. The real thing feels moister and fluffier though. Chocolate, Sea Salt & Rye Cookies: A fine cookie. Nice big chocolate veins. Nice cookie dough too.

Cute bakery/cafe located in the Haymarket area of Edinburgh!…read more It was just a few blocks from our hotel and was conveniently open for a quick breakfast before a day of sightseeing throughout the city. They have a selection of coffees and teas, pastries, and small bites available which seem to be baked fresh each morning. Bites include grilled cheese sandwiches, egg roll, granola bowl, bacon rolls, and they also have sausage rolls and sandwich/toasties available for lunch. I ordered the bacon roll and mocha and my husband got the sausage roll and tea. We opted to eat in as they had a few tables inside and no other patrons in the shop and so she quickly prepared our drinks and brought out our rolls which were both toasted nicely. The mocha was ok, not like the heavily chocolated version I'm used to back in the states, but I found this to be the common theme throughout our trip to Europe. The bacon roll was delish! Do note that their bacon is more like a ham around these parts and a bit more salty, but the bread balanced it out quite nicely. If you're really hungry, I'd recommend getting two. I also enjoyed my husband's sausage roll. Overall, it was a great way to start our day and the prices are pretty reasonable. We had ourselves a nice breakfast for less than 20£ and would recommend a stop here.

Sausage Roll: A very meaty sausage roll. Like it's mostly sausage, with a bit of dough around it. The sausage itself had veggies and herbs in the mix. Perfect if you want a big meal for breakfast. Cheese Scone: Subtle and mild cheesy. I didn't have any butter on hand, but imagine that would make this even better. Twice Baked Blackcurrant & Pistachio Croissant: Loved that there was a nice jam spread in the middle of the croissant. The twice-baking meant it wasn't as airy/flaky as once-baked croissant, but that is easily overlooked since the blackcurrant makes up for it. Frangipane Bar: A really great take on a dessert bar. Perfect if you love marzipan, but don't want to eat one of those weird brightly shaped candies. I liked this so much, I'm gonna look up how to make this at home.

Ahhh my new love. I love love love Coco chocolate!…read more If you're around the area its well worth stopping by to try the free samples. There is a large variety of chocolate on their shelves, each bar lovingly made and with such creative flavours it'll be hard to choose just one. Highly recommended- lavender chocolate. And their chocolate almonds are pretty fantastic too. I will say it's quite pricey but it's worth it. There are also truffles available as well as stunning gift boxes that make a great gift idea (this was my Valentine's day gift. Loved it!) It's a very small space with a few seats. My reccomendation would be to buy 3 bars for £12, go home, and prepare to have your mind blown by the sheer awesomeness that it Coco chocolate. Or give it away as a gift or share it or something.

Yyyyyyyaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!…read more *runs around house in delight* I was so darn excited when I noticed this little shop had opened, that I nearly dragged a visiting family member into traffic just to peer through the window. One quick little search will prove: I really really like Coco. In fact, I quite recently wrote about the Bruntsfield location and true to form, this little Stockbridge spots lives up to the artisan reputation. So why did this little place get the coveted five stars over Bruntsfield's four? Because it's LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES FROM MY HOUSE! Wheeee!! Pre-warning: it is tiny. I wouldn't plan to stay here for a beverage, though Caz is right and they have a chair or two in the window. However, if you have more than two people in the shop, you'd be near elbow to elbow, so I don't see it being a relaxing coffee stop any time soon. BUT they've got a beautiful wall of chocolate bars with every flavour under the sun, a small glass shelved collection of their infamous hand painted chocolates and informal bags of squares, nut clusters, etc, perfect for grey Mondays or "get me through this week" Wednesday afternoons. Between this and Patisserie Madeleine across the road, I see a new waistline in my future...
