    Latte

Pretty good latte and a nice place to sit and read. The wait staff was friendly and they had a decent selection of coffee and tea for such a small place.

    Chai tea latte

Had an amazingly delicious and creamy hot chai tea latte here. I would drink these things all day if they weren't 1000 calories. What does that equal in kcal? Anyway. Friendly baristas and seating seems limited but I came near closing time so I didn't have an issue. Only thing is that there didn't seem to be any sockets...

Weak coffee. It's a "long black." Hot chocolate was very good.

This intimate coffee shop has a lower outside area that you see all over the city for businesses, apartments and coffee shops. Six tables and two umbrellas make up the darling lower "patio". Narrow stairs lead down to it. Inside you order. A busy counter greets you with all sizes of coffees. I ordered a long black. I learned afterward that it's an Americano with more water, therefore it tasted bitter. I would not recommend this weak coffee as I prefer a strong coffee, but not a roast. Surprisingly, the woman brought our porcelain cups to us down the narrow stairs. Very friendly staff on a very windy day. I felt we were sitting in a wind tunnel.

    Small variety of pastries...

Pros and cons Great coffee Pretty good scones Small selection of baked stuff Bit hard to find Almost no seating, really small place. Bit hard to sit down relax and have your coffee...

Very friendly service, but I wasn't super enthused with the scones. I guess it depends on personal preference, but I found it to be a little too sweet with the dried fruits. I wasn't a huge fan of the butter, but it's Scottish tradition to have butter. Seating and table space was quite limited, and there were no outlets to charge my dying phone. Not an issue on their part, but it was information that would have been helpful for solo travelers like me.

At last - a local coffee shop that serves a 12 oz latte! Woho! It's no doubt among my top 10 of favorite coffee shops in Edinburgh in terms of getting what I want. The scenery however, was nice and all, but a bit too hectic for me. There were a few available sits, but if this place would have had a bigger facility of more seating options, it would have received 5/5. I hereby name this latte - The King James latte. It's bold, traditional, poetic and kinda makes you wanna preach all day long. :)

    Scone + Clotted Cream

The best scones we've ever had in the UK. The perfect balance of hard exterior and soft interior. The clotted cream is definitely worth the extra charge. Service and coffee/tea selection is great. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Clean bathrooms. Central to all the shops and public transportation. My husband loves their mint tea and I'm a fan of their Earl Grey.

Great coffee and scones, they also do a mean chai latte. The interior is quite small and there are limited seats. It also tends to get quite warm inside. This is a place I'd recommend to get your coffee and sit in for a bit, but not one of the places you could sit for hours on your laptop or blathering away with a friend. Also not suitable for large groups.

I was here on last Friday and back again on Sunday afternoon! Their limited seats and popularity doesn't give me that much hope of sitting in for coffee. However I was pretty lucky to be able to enjoy my cappuccino at the shop. My cappuccino was delicious, it tasted a bit sweet probably from the milk. I haven't tried their attractive-looking scones yet so that's my next reason/mission to come back! *TiP* Put your digital devices away and enjoy the cozy cafe vibe ^^

Inside where the coffees are made, yum

Size of a closet, but the coffee is massively delicious. If you like a delicious take away coffee whilst shopping on Princes st/George st, look no further. p.s the scones look effing delicious, and are unique and

Too eager to drink the FW to get a photo first! Now, for that scone...

I've been going to Henderson's for a while now. It's not a place I go out of my way to get to, but it's the best option I'm aware of for a good quality cup of coffee if you're on George Street. The scones are tasty and crumbly, and they do offer clotted cream, and their cakes are quite lovely, but of course it's the coffee I go here for, as I'm not much of a sweet tooth. The coffee is on a whole absolutely decent, though not GREAT. I've never had a bad cuppa here, but I've also never had an exceptional one. If you're looking for a flat white and you're not a Starbucks or Costa fan, this will definitely be your best bet! Space-wise, it's pretty tiny and not particularly comfortable inside. I don't like seats with no backs as I end up hunched over and hurting, and the only seats that have any back rest here are the benches along the walls. Good thing the outside area provides extra space in fair weather and the chairs out there have back rests! Just a shame that in the winter months you're less likely to want to have a seat outside. A properly made (warm but not hot) flat white will be stone cold in five minutes even if it isn't raining. So... This isn't going to be a winter haunt for me, but in the summer it's got plenty of space and it's nice to watch the world go by on the streets above you. :)

Cozy coffee shop to pop in from the cold. I got a Chai latte that was fantastic and very flavorful, though I wish it had been served a bit warmer. Great nonetheless! The fruit scone was the star of the show for sure. Absolutely huge and for 50p more, came with an enormous amount of clotted cream and delicious plum jam. Truly outstanding! The shop is very small so seating is limited. The staff was friendly enough, but perhaps could have been a bit more so in my opinion. I know it's not their specialty, but perhaps they could offer a few more food options such as sandwiches. The carrot cake looked divine though! :) Would come back and recommend to anyone. Went back for the carrot cake! Was SOO good. Super moist and filled with different dried fruit and nuts! The cream cheese topping was excellent and not too sweet. Highly recommend!

I have a bit of an obsession with scones at the moment, and decided to visit Wellington Coffee after reading some positive reviews about their scones. Oh and coffee of course which I enjoy as well. So one Saturday morning I decided to walk to town and hit the shops - but before that I needed some energy. Wellington Coffee was the perfect stop over for this purpose. The place is very small but luckily I managed to squeeze myself into a window seat. They had a small selection of cakes which all looked delicious and homemade. I ordered a medium cappuccino and a fruit scone. My order was swiftly brought over and the coffee was obviously made with TLC - it had a beautiful decorative leaf motif and tasted lovely too. I instantly regretted going only for the 'medium' coffee as it was actually a rather smallish cup but hey, this is no Starbucks :) Then the scone.. Ooh la la. I enjoyed it a lot. It came with a cute little pot of raspberry jam and some butter. The scone was crumbly, but not too crumbly, Perfection on plate! Coffee and scone came to a total of just over £4, which perhaps is a bit steep - but considering the high quality I didn't mind. I will definitely return.

When it came to ordering, I got an Iced Latte and a Buttery Bap. The menu is a bit difficult to decipher, as it was confusing how much or how little can be added to it and at what cost. The menu said I could only pick one filling, but when I asked I was informed that I could pick an unlimited amount. I'm glad I trusted my instinct and went with just two: Veggie Haggis and Tattie Scones. Both of these were truly delicious. However, there was an extra charge for the second filling. Prices for additions are listed at the bottom of the menu as if they were sides you could order separately. On the receipt, I also saw that I was charged 0.50 extra for ice. I don't understand why places charge extra to make an iced drink when overall you're actually getting less of the drink. Overall, everything tasted good and I'm glad I was able to try numerous Scottish classics.
