Yesterday I stopped and had lunch at Zaxby's in Smithfield NC. I didn't have time to get a salad (which I preferred) as I was traveling and needed something quick I could eat with my hands. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was hot and fresh. The crinkle cuts were well-seasoned and the strips were descent. Not as flavorful as I remember. Yeah, this Zaxby's in Smithfield NC off I 95. I've never been a big fan of Zaxby food and now remember why. I don't like how they give 50% fries25% bread & 25% chicken. If your goal is to eat unhealthy then be my guest and eat here but I am not. The Zax sauce has no taste, I wanted to ask for Chick fil A sauce but not likely. My wife got a salad and we later see her fork is missing only empty wrapper, we came back bc can't eat salad w hands. I've always wanted to check Zaxby's out since they don't have any in my area. I ordered the chicken sandwich on Texas Toast and was pretty underwhelmed. Chicken was dry even though it was smothered in ranch and spicy sauce. Crinkle cut fries were better than I thought; hot, crispy, and mostly longer pieces and few small crunchy parts. Sadly every time we pick up an order half of it seems wrong. This last time my husband almost walked out due to the cashiers rudeness. If you are wearing a mask PLEASE SPEAK WHERE PEOPLE CAN HEAR YOU. He couldn't hear anything she was saying and asked her to repeat it because he couldn't hear. She pulled down her mask and said "Can you hear me now??" I work with the public and that's not necessary. You don't know who can or can't hear well especially in a busy establishment so speak up! My fiancé and I decided to get dinner here because we didn't feel like cooking. As we turned into the best parking lot we saw that the line was wrapped all the way around the building but we decided to stay in line. It moved very quickly! I think we were there for maybe 10 minutes. Our food was hot and fresh! Everything was exactly what we ordered. Always a great stop . Wish we had a Zaxby in New Jersey . My favorite is the Buffalo Chicken Salad. Comes with fried or grilled Buffalo Chicken and a choice of dressing. I always get the blue cheese to cool down the delicious tangy Buffalo sauce. Service was great. Ordered at the counter and was delivered to my table. Love their ice tea. Can mix match sweet and unsweetened to your liking. Salad came on a ceramic bowl with a slice of garlic toast. A perfect lunch. Even got a free macadamia cookie with a yelp offer. The customer service was great! The young lady who helped us was very patient and helped us out with suggestions during our first visit to this restaurant Hmmmm . . . I guess I'm just not a fan. Didn't like the soggy fries. When I read they were crinkle cut fries, I got happy. But they were limp and not crisp. Maybe that's how they like it down south. Stopped by today for a pic nic lunch out under a shade tree in the parking lot. Food was consistently good as it usually is at Zaxby's. We received our food but didn't get silverware, napkins or ketchup so we had to go back to the door to request that. Other than that it was a good experience. read more

Heard good things about the new chicken sandwich, so that's what I ordered with a side of coleslaw. Was very disappointed, the bun was over cooked and the chicken tasted terrible because it was very over fried. I also didn't get a fork with my slaw, so like idk if they expect me to eat it with my hands or what?! The worst Zaxby's I've ever been to. Some of my chicken was so overcooked it was barely edible. The rest was too undercooked to eat. And my fries tasted like they were a day old. The dining room was a mess with spills that were left to dry in the floor and the soda machine looked like had never been cleaned. They weren't early busy enough to justify the wait. It seemed like there was absolutely no supervision and the staff that wasn't on their phone were arguing rather than serving customers. I've only been here once. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. I didn't really care for it but only because it was marinated in Italian dressing. This happened a while back but I didn't finish my food here and I went to get a to go box and the lady that was at the counter was talking to another employee like if they were not working. Terrible experience. Also I said "Can I get a to go box" and she got mad because interrupted her talking instead of working session. The only good thing I can say is that the BBQ boneless chicken wings where very nice. A good suggestion is to have the boxes somewhere visible or to make sure that the employees working. read more

Very VERY busy location. The place was non stop, and with that the drink machine went down due to it being low on almost all the drinks. The girl who took my order was nice and welcomed me. I was introduced to zaxbys a couple of years ago and have made a point to go whenever I am near one lol but I came to this location after visiting the outlets located next door. We came here to use a gift card won at a Christmas party and to get some food before getting back on the road to go home. They were pretty busy but the experience was professional and we received quick service. We ordered bone-in chicken with fries and a chicken sandwich. I get weary about ordering chicken sandwiches because they can be greasy making the bread soggy but not here. Once you order they Bring the food to your table if you eat in. The store was very clean and had very good customer service. The inside had paraphernalia of the nearby sports in the area so it gives you a hometown feel and shows the support of the City which is nice to see if you're a NC fan. This location is right near the highway so you can stop in maybe do some shopping then jump back on the road. Will definitely do this if I'm in the area again read more

Man, what a disappointing experience this time at Zaxby's. I live now in Maryland, where there are no Zaxby's, but having lived across the Southeast US, I know their offerings real well. So earlier this week when I stop by one on my way back from Georgia to Maryland at this Selma, NC location, it proved to be a mistake. The server was unpleasant and impatient and never smiled or said thank you, and the food wasn't that great. My chicken fingers were unusually dry, and the fried pickles were too greasy. They added more but still not enough compared to other zaxbys that we've been to. The soda machine was completely empty. Tea was the only option for drink. The place wasn't clean either.
