Got a Cobb salad. Everything's as left off the salad but the cheese and the chicken. Disappointing and a waste of money.

Hot Chickenus Supremus…read more I make it a point to try and visit at least one Hot Chicken place whenever I'm in the Nashville area. On a recent visit to the area I decided to hit up one of the places I had on my list for a while, Moore's Spicy Fried Chicken in Hendersonville. Moor's has been around for years and many a Hot Chicken Fan has visited this place. Moore serves up freshly made Fried, Hot, Spicy and Mild Chicken as well as Smoked Brisket and some other favourites. During my visit to Moore's iI just happened to be served by one of the owners/founders of Moore's. We had a great conversation talking about Hot Chicken, its history, and places that have come and gone. To keep things simple since it was lunch, I ordered a breast with medium spice and crinkle fries. My chicken was made from scratch and it took about 20 minutes for the whole process. When I received my chicken it was HOT, juicy, tender and fresh and with the perfect amount of crispiness. Even though In ordered my chicken mild, I was still wiping sweat off my face while I ate my meal. it was a very good Hot Chicken meal and one of the best I've had in a while. If you are a fan of Hot Chicken, check out Moore's for yourself !!!

This location in…read moreHendersonville is the closest to us on the east side of the city, so when we make our way anywhere remotely near, we always stop to grab a few tenders! While Slim Chickens is far from life-altering, it is consistent, fresh and tasty! Never had any issues with our food orders, which normally consist of tender meals, a side, drink and sauce. I always side my tenders with fried okra, and the fact that I can do this makes me beyond happy! While my order stays consistent, I usually switch up the dipping sauces. They have quite a list that I have yet to make it all the way through, but we are trying. They cook to order here, so the food is always piping hot and solid when it hits the table. Only gripe with this location is the service can be hit and miss at the counter. Never rude, but forgetful or disinterested. Overall, we enjoy Slim Chickens and are happy to see them popping up everywhere!

I thought it was just my imagination...but I'm starting to believe that the food they're serving is old. There is no way the food I ordered was made fresh to order. 4.5 The new year is…read moreas good as time as ever to try a new (to you/me) restaurant in an unvisited (by me/you) part of the midstate. Old Hickory Blvd is to the Nashville area as Peachtree is to Atlanta: it's everywhere and nowhere at the same time and no one knows where you are if you say you're on it. Well, needing lunch on a Friday in the new year, I made my way onto Old Hickory to see where it took me. It led me to... Old Hickory and Granddaddy's Original Hot Chicken Shack. It had been on my radar for a while but I never had a reason to me in this part of the county. I decided to make time on this day. Besides the potential gastric distress I find myself avoiding hot chicken because of how colonized and commodified it's become. What was a community staple (and not a 'Nashville' food) has become something that's turned into a chain item, largely without the very people who made it a thing (creators and patrons). Incredibly frustrating. So, when I decide to eat it, I want to make sure I do so responsibly and with consideration. Hence, Granddaddy's. I parked in the ample lot and walked in to find a small dining room that smelled incredible. I was greeted with an authentic smile (you can see it in the eyes and hear it in the voice) and asked (first) how I was doing and (secondly) what I'd like. I answered ('well; thanks for asking' and 'shredded chicken sandwich & fries to go, please.'). In all my professional eating*, I don't think I'd ever had shredded hot chicken. I was going to learn that day. I sat down and watched TV as my food was prepared. After the conclusion on my show, my food was ready. I thanked the folks behind the counter, smiled, waved, and hit the bricks. I noticed that I made a muscle when carrying the bag. This was a good sign. It was also a long drive back to my house. I got home and realized why I had to exert effort to lift my food: it was huge. You definitely get your money's worth. On an over-sized bun, I had an extremely generous amount of shredded hot chicken (medium), cheese, ranch, and pickles. As you might imagine, the flavor combo was A+. What you might not have bet on, though, was the texture win of the sandwich. The soft bun, shredded chicken, creamy ranch, and crunchy pickles added up to a memorable chew with every bite. The fries weren't merely a side. They demanded your attention: a generous portion of seasoned fries that lost neither heat nor snap on the drive from Old Hickory to my home. No matter where you live in the midstate, if you profess to enjoy hot chicken, you owe it to your mouth to make it to Granddaddy's. It was one of the best lunches I'd had in a while. I still think about it. *It's true.

So I was coming back home from my Sunday night hockey game and as I passed what I call "Restaurant…read moreRow", I realized I had nothing to eat for dinner. Or rather, I didn't feel like cooking. It was 7 o'clock and I just had Edley's the Wednesday prior at their Murphy Road location. I was craving those ribs again, so I made a U-turn and went back. Being so "late" on a Sunday in the suburbs, it wasn't very busy at all. Nobody was at the front register for several minutes until someone peeked around at the to-go area and told someone else. As you may know, I'm a man of habit. I ordered nearly the exact same thing as I always do at Edley's but swapped up the sides. Half Slab St. Louis Ribs platter, Chess Pie, but Grits Casserole and Collard Greens. If there's a vegetable side dish I love more than any other, it's any kind of greens. The fact that they had them (they normally aren't on the menu) was a no brainer. The grits casserole was a last minute swap up but I'm glad I tried them. Now, the thing with going late to any restaurant, especially barbecue joints is that the food tends to "age" as the day goes on. Like, your food isn't as "fresh" as if you came earlier in the day. I knew this going in but I wanted to point this out. The greens were delicious but because I went in late in the day, they were super tangy from the vinegar being cooked down over time. They had a nice heat to them and the leaves were overly cooked, but I enjoyed them nevertheless. The grits casserole had a nice rich cheesey flavor incorporated into them. Just like the collard greens, there was a subtle heat that sat on your tongue after the initial bite. The cornbread was fantastic. Warm, sweet, with also a heat kick to them. Lastly the ribs hit the spot, just like I expected them to. Compared to the other Edley's (where I went during prime time lunch), these were a little dry but they had the same flavor profile. Meaty, fatty, and tangy-sweet with that nice crunch of cartilage at the end. I ended up taking my chess pie home to heat up in the microwave (who eats cold pie)?? As always, it was fantastic. The only reason this wasn't as good as the other review is because I came at the end of the day and the food "sat" over time in their warmers and such. Like I said in my prior review for the Murphy Rd Edley's, Edley's has always been consistent no matter which location I go to and that's why it still gets a 5*.

That was in the pre Covid times & place made me remember how great that it was having a Mexican lunch buffet nearby. The inside of the restaurant is simple, clean, and the staff are very attentive. There was a note on the door that said their last day at that location will be May 17 and there is a for lease sign in the parking lot.
