I called them for an estimate. The owner, Tyler, happened to be finishing up an estimate in Parker and he was at our place within about 20 minutes. That is responsive! He looked over the area, took measurements, and reviewed our options, including brands, styles, features, colors, etc. We elected to go with the KE Durasol for the deck and a Sunsetter Easy Shade for the pergola. We opted to get the motorized version for both. Given the size of the awning we wanted, the product had to be ordered, but it was not a long wait, about 4 weeks (probably a little less). The crew showed up on time, were highly professional and did quality work. We even had to have some extra support work done given the span of our awning (pushing 20'). The crew engineered the proper solution and completed installation of the awning and the screen in about 4 hours. The product and quality of work was fantastic. As a side note, we had some high winds, resulting in a slight final adjustment. Tyler came out and made the adjustments himself and things have worked flawlessly ever since then. We are extremely pleased we went with the electric versions of the products as well as the products themselves. Tyler was very responsive, professional and helpful as was Teresa, coordinating everything from the office. The installation crew was top notch. I'd highly recommend them to anyone. Just so you know, I recommended them to my in-laws and they are extremely happy with their awning as well. (You know I have to like the product and company to recommend them to the in-laws. :D)

Denver Decks just completed the work on our new deck. From the very start to the finish the…read moreproject has been great. The new deck replaced an old wooden deck that had seen it's better days. The understructure of the old deck was beginning to fail and the understructure supports the roof that covers most of the deck. Before hiring Denver Decks to do the job we used AI to recommend good deck companies in the Denver area. We contacted four companies, three responded and Denver Decks was one of those three. Our deck is 17' x 20' and the estimates to do the job were similar. We were promptly contacted and set up a meeting with Paul Koehn from Denver Decks. We met with Paul and quickly realized that he was much more that just a salesman for the company. He had built many decks before moving into sales so his knowledge of what is needed for a new deck was extensive, readily available, and we actually enjoyed discussing our project with him. Paul also indicated that Denver Decks always complies with the codes and permit process that exists for such projects in Denver. One of the companies that we contacted said that they do not pull permits for work in Denver and if something goes wrong during the process it would be our fault! Paul had lots of photos of other projects that Denver Decks had completed. The photo collection was extensive, well organized, and included pictures of stairs, railings, deck surfaces and lights that have been used in other projects. It really made it easier for us to decide what we wanted for our deck. After deciding on what we wanted for our deck the deconstruction of the old deck began and we got to meet/talk with Jay (project manager), Mike (site manager) and Jim, the craftsman for our deck. The communication throughout the project was great! The roof, that covered most of the 17'x20' deck, was supported by three 4"x4" posts that were set upon the deck surface that was supported by two 2"x8" boards on edge. I was very nervous that the aging understructure might fail and drop the roof onto the deck. Denver Decks installed 3 caissons to support the new 6"x6" posts that would now support the roof and 3 added caissons to support the outer edge of the deck. Each cement caisson was 19" in diameter and 36" deep. My worries about the roof falling ceased to exist! After the old deck was removed Jim began to build the new deck. I do not have words that can adequately express how impressed we were with the craftsmanship, construction knowledge and care that Jim displayed in building our deck. The skill that he displayed in all aspects of the construction were amazing and the best that I've ever witnessed in all of the projects that I've ever hired or been around. He built our deck the way that I would've built it if I had his knowledge, skill, equipment and his many years of construction experience! Thank you Jim! Such decks are not cheap and the price for Denver Decks to do the job was similar to that of the company that said they would not pull permits! Building a deck is one of those many situations in life where you truly do, "get what you paid for" and we didn't pay a cent until the job was finished to our satisfaction. Apologies for such a long review but a short review just would not do in this case. Denver Decks did a great job for us and we wholeheartedly recommend them for your deck. They have always done stellar work and carry high quality products. Unfortunately one of our Hunter Douglas shades of the mid 90s had a failed cord due to its extended use in a bedroom. When I called to see if it could be restrung, I learned the sad news that they cannot, due to federal safety laws regarding the child strangulation prevention measures of current manufacture. A good thing for children of course, but a complication for homeowners. We went out to their facility and worked with one of their designers and chose a shade similar enough in color and style to fit in our home. We ordered the product and waited about 4 weeks until it arrived. We picked it up and planning to install it ourselves, having done so for some of the older ones in the past. As it turned out, the method of install is so different now, the tools required and the shape of the brackets now also different, we were unable to do it. I called the designer and asked if we could have an installer after all. She contacted installation and got me the contact to set it up. Today the installer got here, a true professional, on time and with tools in hand, had it done in under 20 minutes. Nothing like having the skills and the tools and the height to do it with ease. We felt very fortunate and the price to do this was very reasonable. I will continue to use Innovative Openings for all of our window coverings. One more note, if you do have an older Hunter Douglas window shade product in your home with any small plastic fasteners or pull tabs for the old cord system that have cracked with age or high altitude sun exposure like ours, those parts can be ordered directly from Hunter Douglas online. It is simple to replace most of these parts. The parts are free and I was only charged a minimal shipping fee. I was able to get about 7 pieces. I was able to match colors for past products up to nearly 20 years old. I did those replacements myself. I even switched one to the same color but a different shape to better match the older blinds in the adjacent room. It's the internal cord system on the older blinds that they can no longer re-string. If you want to prevent replacing, be very gentle on them as they age.
