After reading reviews about the food at this location, we decided to give it a try. We were told to go to the 2nd floor for additional seating as our table was right next to the stairs! We ordered the Grandma's mixture of fried dumplings, three entrees and drinks. Our waitress was not that friendly from the beginning but took our order without writing it down although she did repeat it back to us. She set up the metal stand for the dumplings, but they never arrived! Only two out of the three entrees arrived so the 3rd dish- the pig's knuckles didn't arrive either. I just shared my food with my wife and she was ok with that. We called the waitress over and told her we didn't receive the dumpling and the 3rd entree. She did not apologize for this nor express any sympathy about those missing items. I called the manager over to tell her the same issue, but surprisingly, she didn't offer an apology or any corrective measures herself. She didn't even bother to check up on this, so I flatly told her that we are canceling those two dishes and not to bring them as we are leaving now. The waitress ran downstairs to tell the chef to stop the orders, but I didn't care at that point anymore whether they were actually ready or not. When we paid our bill, again, the waitress didn't even say Thank You or anything else. It seems that neither one seemed to care about what had happened. I know it was busy that night and things like this happens. However that's why people like me leave honest reviews for others to read before they go to any restaurant. I was a little hesitant to try pierogi just anywhere because I didn't want to be disappointed, but I'm glad my friend brought me here since I really wanted to try some traditional Polish food. I didn't really know what to expect at first, but their fried pierogi and traditional sausage were amazing. Also their compote juice. Despite being a chain, Zapiecek is absolutely delicious! Truly authentic polish food with so many options. The portions are massive, the drinks are fantastic (loved their warm Aperol spritz). So many pierogis to choose from! You can get them boiled or fried, sweet or savory. The line always moves really fast as they have tons of seatings inside (downstairs and upstairs), and the food is served very fast as well. Zapiecek feels a lot like the Denny's of Warsaw. First of all, there are locations of this chain restaurant everywhere (I counted no fewer than seven on my visit). Second, the restaurant is decorated with lots of kitsch decorated with Polish folk art, and even the service staff was dressed in "traditional" clothes. Third, the huge menu was full of fantastical, colorful photos that were obviously exaggerated depictions of the actual dishes. I started with an order of the zurek, a sour white rye soup served with a grilled sausage, half a hard-boiled egg topped with horseradish, and slices of a seeded Polish bread, all arranged on a wooden board. But my favorite dish was the bigos, a traditional Polish stew made with sauerkraut cooked with sausage, pork ribs, forest mushroom, dried plums, and red wine. As a whole, the dish was nicely balanced in flavor with the savoriness of the meat and mushrooms, the sourness of the sauerkraut, and the slight sweetness of the dried plums. While the actual plates of food didn't look as picture-perfect as the photos, and the whole restaurant felt a bit artificial, the food and dining experience were great nonetheless! read more

I had dinner with a friend here! Very cosy interior and friendly staff! No need for reservation during the week, they have many tables. I will definitely come back whenever I am in Warsaw. They are all over Warsaw, and they over traditional fare such as kielbasa, pierogis, zurek soup, etc. They are particularly known for their pierogi menu, which is very extensive and includes both boiled and fried versions. We usually come here when we want pierogis. They have all kinds and servings come in "grandma portions" (9 pieces) or "grandpa portions" (11 pieces). Additionally, there's the option of mixing pierogi types to make your own platter with your favorites! My personal favorite is ordering kielbasa (Polish sausages), they come with onions or cabbage, and they are always delicious. Hands down this was my favorite restaurant in Warsaw. The atmosphere, the waiters/waitresses and hosts dressed up in traditional Polish attire, and the food here was incredible. We came here twice during our visit. We ordered everything from soup, to fried pierogis to potato pancakes. The portions are huge. We went with a large group both times and never had to wait for a table. We were seated right away downstairs. The employees speak Polish and English, so it made ordering a breeze. Prices were decent and ideal for this type of cuisine. We asked a few locals in the area where their favorite place for traditional Polish food was and they mentioned this one first. We had pierogis 3 times in Poland, and these were absolutely the best of the three. It is located on Nowy Swiat, so in a touristy spot, but it's a cute little restaurant. The waitresses are dressed in traditional Polish garb, but they all speak English. The menu is EXTENSIVE, but we settled on a set of fried pierogis with cabbage and mushroom and boiled Ruskie pierogis (potatoes and cheese). They also offer different dipping sauces, such as gravy, cheese, sour cream (pairs well with fried pierogis!), and butter. Both pierogis came piping hot and tasted incredibly fresh. This place was a real disappointment for me. It's the first place we went to after I landed in Poland. I was hungry and we just wanted to grab something to eat. The pierogi were really just average, at best. I was thinking it would be something that would blow me away. I've had better in the US than the ones served here. Also, I was disappointed that the server was so rigid on the orders... I think sometimes it is because it makes her job easier than whether it could actually be done (the request was seemingly minor). We were so torn coming here because we knew it was a big chain (there's a ton of them in the area) but the reviews were so good, we had to try it. I'm so glad we did! We ordered a big sangria which was about the size of my boyfriends head! It was quite delicious. We shared a plate of beef and cabbage perogies and the potato pancake with goulash and it was probably one of the best meals I had on my trip. The service was a bit on the slow side but we had nothing but time. A famous polish chain spread all over Warsaw. Still pierogi is good. Atmosphere is authentic, decoration is traditional, the uniform of the staff is really nice. The prices are fair enough. I ordered the mushroom, parsley and cream (I think those were the ingredients) pierogi a with gravy... Just FYI if you order gravy it's not like the Gravy you put on your turkey for thanksgiving, it's more like bacon bits with the grease leftover from a pan. This is one of a number of restaurants in a local chain serving traditional Polish food. In spite of being a chain, the food is excellent. I particularly favor barszcz z uszkami for a soup; the pierogi with meat (order with bacon bits) or even better with (really!) wild mushrooms. Then (hopefully you were really hungry) finish with a plate of boiled blueberry pierogi (real wild blueberries dark blue through and through; not the commercial blueberries that are green inside that are related to huckleberries; order with sour cream or else it will be too sweet; you can always sprinkle a little sugar on top.). Amazing stuff! The service is prompt. The atmosphere relaxed. It certainly passes for a family restaurant. The sitting will feel a bit tight (for an American) but think of it as the Old World charm. All this applies to any of the locations of this chain. I have eaten in at least four different ones and they are all up to snuff. read more
