A great place for dinner! The servers, all dressed in red, were super nice to us. We came at 7:00pm and the place was really busy. However, it was only a 10 minute wait for a table outside. The outside tables (lots of them) are accompanied with flowers and lamps surrounding the perimeter. Our server quickly took our order and gave us recommendations and explanations on the different dishes. We went with the frozen lemonade and shot of vodka to start, super delicious with fresh lemons. A cup of the sausage soup had a nice unique flavor to it. So did the rib (fall off the bone) dinner and cabbage. My potato pancakes and goulash was good, but some of the pork knuckle pieces were tough to chew. The bread they provide with the dinner was rye, and just tasted okay. We ordered the apple pie and ice cream for dinner. The apple pie tasted very plain, missing cinnamon or something to improve the blandness. The bottom and top layers were soggy pastry. The vanilla ice cream was delicious.

Zapiecek is a mini chain, located in Warsaw. (I didn't find any in Krakow.) In a 20 minutes walk near-ish the old town area. Don't let that fool you. The food is so good! Both of us wanted the pan fried dumplings. I got the forest mushrooms with butter sauce (which I didn't use cuz it was SOOOO GOOD by itself). If you like mushrooms, you must get this version! It's amazing! Hubby got the meat stuffed dumplings (the most traditional option) with 'gravy', which is pieces of bacon soaking in butter sauce. It's what you see in the menu photos. I mean, it's bacon, so is there anyone to argue this?? The atmosphere is great. We were there ~6pm. The outside seating is quite full as it was a beautiful day. But we didn't want to smell cigarette smoke so we happily chose the lovely interior surrounded by books and darling lampshades. We requested and got a table by the window so it was extra lovely. If you're in Warsaw, I highly recommend trying anyone of them. This location is just outside of old town and very approachable for tourists. Enjoy your meal. You'll love it!

I loved their food! It is a chain, but the food is great. They have a rich menu with a variety of Polish traditional dishes. Great service, the personnel is in a nice short dresses. You would meet to wait in the line for some time, especially on the weekends, for the party if 4+. However, 2 of us got a seat immediately. Great place.

It's the first Polish food you come across in the Old town area. Food was delicious service not real friendly. Good cheap filling English menu English speaking. Walk a little ways down and you'll find much better. I recommend but wish I kept going a little bit more.

Truth be told, I did not think the pierogies were all that good...hot, variety and fried, 9 pierogies were enough, I chose the no meat group, I found one the most tasty with cheese and one was awful with cottage cheese and buckwheat. I have had frozen then boiled pierogies at home better tasting than these! I was disappointed but since I am no pro on pierogies, I will leave this at 3 stars. Final comments...as a solo traveler, the outside seating was not an option to take their tables for four and indoor seating was warm today. Service speed okay, but no friendliness, just business.

One might think that Pierogis are everywhere in Poland, but we did not find that to be the case. This restaurant specializes in pierogis and has a number of locations - it seems all are considered good. We enjoyed it, with good service, English speaking staff and a nice atmosphere. This one has a good location near many of the places of interest in Warsaw. We recommend it.

Assorted pierogis, sour rye soup and mulled wine. Just what the doctor ordered on a cold autumn night.

We had a beautiful street side table where we could just sit, soak in Warsaw, and people watch.

Our colleagues, translator and guide, was from Poland, but no Warsaw. So we happen upon Zapiecek, and we're not disappointed. It was an almost 11pm when we decided it was time to find some food on this work trip and first time to Poland. So I wanted something of local taste. So my colleague suggested the pierogi. Now forgive me for not remembering the fillings, or the sauce, but the memories of just enjoying the flavors is still with me that I tried to find similar taste here in the States and have not found a place yet. From what I remember the staff were friendly and the setting was quiet and comfortable. So I do have fond memories of dining at Zapiecek, and would go again. So enjoy...

First time having authentic fried pierogis - wow! I highly recommend ordering the 9 piece assortment of pierogis or dumplings. I enjoyed their version of beef stew (great for dipping the side of bread!). Affordable prices, very friendly and fast service. I loved the house red wine, it paired great with our meal. Walking distance to many popular and fun bars, lounges, restaurants, and more. A gem that we stumbled upon - highly recommend if you are in Warsaw!

The dim-lit ambiance, the dark wood accents and white tablecloth gives that formal yet cozy environment and with that, comes an exquisite menu that will leave you with a very pleasant and memorable experience. Reservations are highly recommended which I did have so check-in was a breeze. The waitress was very knowledgeable with the wine list and menu items which was extremely helpful when deciding among the various delicious sounding items on the menu. I heard that the Steak Tartare is a must here so I ordered that and to my delight, it's the best steak tartare I've had in all of Poland. It's prepared table-side from a very charismatic chef which added to the excitement and enjoyment of trying this tasty item. The Beef Wellington was also a delight. The buttery and slightly crisp puff pastry melts in your mouth along NG with the tender and juicy beef in which the demi-glace adds additional flavor to the already mouth-watering profile. Just pure gloriousness. The Bluefin Tuna was the final item I tried and the tender, fresh and scrumptious flavor of the tuna paired with the black truffle, avocado, artichoke and teriyaki sauce...so good. I unfortunately did not have enough room for dessert but wow I watched the items pass by me landing at other tables and I was so wanting to try one of them but not one single bite more of anything could've fit in my stomach. That's why there's always a next time :)
