Second, the restaurant is decorated with lots of kitsch decorated with Polish folk art, and even the service staff was dressed in "traditional" clothes. Third, the huge menu was full of fantastical, colorful photos that were obviously exaggerated depictions of the actual dishes. I started with an order of the zurek, a sour white rye soup served with a grilled sausage, half a hard-boiled egg topped with horseradish, and slices of a seeded Polish bread, all arranged on a wooden board. But my favorite dish was the bigos, a traditional Polish stew made with sauerkraut cooked with sausage, pork ribs, forest mushroom, dried plums, and red wine. As a whole, the dish was nicely balanced in flavor with the savoriness of the meat and mushrooms, the sourness of the sauerkraut, and the slight sweetness of the dried plums. While the actual plates of food didn't look as picture-perfect as the photos, and the whole restaurant felt a bit artificial, the food and dining experience were great nonetheless!

We ordered the Grandma's mixture of fried dumplings, three entrees and drinks. Our waitress was not that friendly from the beginning but took our order without writing it down although she did repeat it back to us. She set up the metal stand for the dumplings, but they never arrived! Only two out of the three entrees arrived so the 3rd dish- the pig's knuckles didn't arrive either. I just shared my food with my wife and she was ok with that. We called the waitress over and told her we didn't receive the dumpling and the 3rd entree. She did not apologize for this nor express any sympathy about those missing items. I called the manager over to tell her the same issue, but surprisingly, she didn't offer an apology or any corrective measures herself. She didn't even bother to check up on this, so I flatly told her that we are canceling those two dishes and not to bring them as we are leaving now. The waitress ran downstairs to tell the chef to stop the orders, but I didn't care at that point anymore whether they were actually ready or not. When we paid our bill, again, the waitress didn't even say Thank You or anything else. It seems that neither one seemed to care about what had happened. I know it was busy that night and things like this happens. However that's why people like me leave honest reviews for others to read before they go to any restaurant. Oh, we didn't bother leaving a tip as a result.

The decor is also high traditional, which is just sometimes what you want in a traditional/more tourist-facing place. The pierogi were some of the best I had in my tour of Poland, and I taste-tested A LOT of pierogi! They also have a delightful selection of vodkas. Our server clearly had about a billion tables, and yet she somehow was still unflappably kind and quick with our meals and answering any questions we had. The menu is really quite good and we had a hard time choosing.

This place is charming, cozy, and clearly a must-visit -- it was very busy with people waiting outside, which only confirmed how loved it is. The cranberry sauce and mushroom sauce on the side were perfect pairings and really elevated the dish, adding a sweet and earthy balance to each bite. It felt like the kind of spot you seek out when traveling -- authentic, warm, and deeply satisfying. If you're a foodie or a visitor wanting to experience real Polish comfort food while in Warsaw, this is definitely a place you shouldn't miss. I'd happily return and highly recommend it!

I came directly from Gdansk in a delayed train so I rushed straight here to make my reservation. With my roller luggage and all. They thankfully had a convenient coat check where they were able to store my luggage. Now as for the food, wow on all fronts. I ordered the Chicken Soup, Marinated Herring, Steak Tartare, Lamb Shank and a Meringue Pie. I just had to try everything! And sure glad I did. I don't usually like lamb but this dish came highly recommended. Ive only liked lamb on a few occasions so it was a gamble and in this rare situation, I won. The gaminess of the lamb was very subtle and the flavor combined with the potato puree and marinade was delicious. The steak tartare was prepared table side and the chef asks if you want it normal, mild, or spicy. I opted for spicy which I felt wasn't any spice but nonetheless, a very tasty steak tartare. The marinated herring was so enjoyable as well. The fish was tender and the citrus profile of the sauce was a fantastic complement to the dish. The Chicken Soup was as good as chicken soup could be. Warm and savory. And finally the dessert. The fluffy meringue pie was very good as well but after a few bites, the sweetness got to me. Still a good dish though but more geared towards those with a real sweet tooth.

Finally, I asked the server for some recommendations. He was very helpful in answering my questions and suggesting some entrées based on my diet. We ordered a few appetizers and a few entrées. So the expectations were high but we were not disappointed. The restaurant is located in a quite historic place. It was the Russian embassy during the downer times and you can find some really interesting symbols on Columns, corner and decoration. The place itself is quite elegant, quite huge for this type of restaurant but still cozy. The service was great and very sympathetic. The young team did their best and the chef waitress kept her young colleagues quite busy to ensure the best for the guests. Especially the girl mixed professionally with a good understanding of wines, tastes and a enjoyable sense of humor. She knew every single dish and was able to describe the tastes, textures and consistencies of the dish, without influencing us too much. The dishes were just a perfect composition. As a starter we had scallops with a purée of potatoes dyed with the ink of sepia, presented on a a glass plate with shells underneath. I had one of my best Tatar and it was goat. A perfect cut and tender goat meat with the typical ingredients like fresh egg but pretend in a perfect way. Onion chips and thin slices of Apple gave it a sour finish and a certain crunch. As main dish we had a classic veal dish with spinach and mashed potatoes... Sounds simple, but the fast was amazing. Especially the veal glacé was eye opening The other dish was perfect medium lamp chops with glacé, chanterelle purée and ravioli filled with ricotta and truffle. The best ravioli I had for a long time. But the highlight of the dinner was the dessert. On the one side we had a praline tarte which was quite heavy and really intense. Ideal for chocolate lovers. The corresponding strawberry sorbet was less sweet and compensated the chocoholic taste with intense fruit aroma and acidity. Well Composed. I had a more light dessert out of a light yogurt foam covered with black current layer and a rhubarb filling. Light and refreshing. Perfect for a nice summer night. The menu is seasonal, quite limited selection and well composed. If you come to Warsaw try this place and you will get amazing food (a la carte, not only tasting menus) in a cozy and nice atmosphere, for a reasonable price. Thumbs up!!!!!!!
