There are upwards of 2 million Ukrainians in Poland today, a result of the Russian war in the Ukraine. They differ from Polish pierogies by size (pielmieni are at least half the size of regular Polish pierogies) and are traditionally served in broth with a size of Russian mustard and/or cream. For the price of 23 pln, I got in a bowl of ridiculously overpriced pielmieni that I am going to rate as "meh, I've had better". They were average, mediocre.. And the broth was close to tasteless and looked borderline nasty. I also ordered a glass of their house wine since they had Georgian wines available and the price listed on the menu was 11 pln. So I was slightly surprised when I got my check and the wine was listed as 13 pln. Not cool. The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of just one is the fact that their menu, despite the ridiculous prices, offers a unique blend of far Eastern European and Caucasian cuisine as well as the fact that the waitress seemed nice and did her job properly (aside from not mentioning that the wine was more expensive than stated in the menu..) You can pay by card and the place is located right next to the "Nowolipki" tram station on Jana Pawła II. Their English was excellent. They did not speak Ukrainian or Russian (I did not expect them to and personally, I do not care if they did or didn't and the 4 stars does not reflect that). Most of my reviews on yelp include languages of the restaurants, so that is my reasoning for including it. Their website is in English, Polish and German -- so perhaps they speak German!! The food was incredible. Unfortunately, we do not care much for horseradish so that is why there are four stars. However, on all the dishes the horseradish was tastefully done. It was foamed or on the side -- not overpowering at all. The meals were all beautiful. Their timing for each dish was perfect. At the end of the meal, I was quite content and ready to go home. However, they figured out it was my fiances birthday and gave him a small birthday cake. It made his day!!! I loved this restaurant because of it takes traditional Polish cuisine and puts a modern twist on it. When I have family visiting me, I will bring them here.
