It's my first time in Poland, and I decided to check out Polka because it came up as one of the best restaurants in Warsaw when I searched online. I had the pierogis to start and it was really good. For my main entree, I got the pork knuckle. It was very good! To wash it all down, I had the Polka cocktail, which had Polish herbs vodka, Polish honey liqueur, tonic, and lemon juice. This restaurant is one of Magda Gessler's restaurants. If you are Polish or have lived in Poland, you are probably familiar with her and her television program. You know her high expectations. You know her penchant for well-cooked food. You know that if it doesn't live up to her ruthless judgment, then well it wouldn't have her name on it. So why not more than three stars? 1. It's in the old town and is a tourist destination. Despite the typical laid-back eating experience you usually get in Polish restaurants, I felt we were simultaneously ignored and rushed out the door. I don't know how that's possible. 2. The food is OK. I mean, it's good, but it's not even what you'd typically expect for a tourist location. No pierogi on this menu. Bigos? I didn't see it. Of course there was kaszanka (how often do you see that on a menu?) and kotlet schabowy (pork chop) and a good selection of traditional soups. The food was tasty, though in comparison to other places, I don't know if was special. 3. Service was standard for the Polish experience. There's a bit of standoffishness that is par for the course. They take their time... so be prepared. I was expecting more from this place since it is Magda Gessler's. The food was good, but I think that it could have been even better. Had a great work dinner here last night for our large group of 16. We had a beautiful room all to ourselves. Everyone enjoyed their food and my pike perch fish was a perfectly cooked delicious thick baked filet with a pesto sauce over black lentils al dente. A great lighter traditional Polish choice after several heavy meals this week. Appetizers (pierogies, potato pancake, pate) we're all very good as well. read more

Right in the Old Town square you may find this cute, beautifully and traditionally decorated Polish restaurant. It's an excellent choice for business meetings, or a nice Polish meal for visitors. The pictures might express better hot the inside looks. It feel like an old house with multiple rooms, each one decorated and arranged for different parties sizes. Quite spacious, with tall ceilings gives the perfect calm atmosphere that you do not feel in the middle of the crowd. Indeed touristy but still very tasty. Pull pork is generous and baked goat cheese salad highly recommended. Prices may be high but greatly varies depending on your selection. Service is excellent. Mostly low volume atmosphere. No outdoor sitting available. Overall a good choice. We will be happy to come back! read more

Disturbingly efficient staff (do they beat them if they make a mistake?) turn out dependable and tasty favorites from the kitchen (the leek/apple slaw was excellent as a side - the duck and pork chop great mains - deserts were also enjoyable). Nice dining room. Not inexpensive. read more

Location of this restaurant is in wonderful old town. It can be missed as the entrance may full you! Small wooden door and if not the sign I would surly passed it food was good, enjoy the duck. Over all I would give 8 out of 10 read more

Restaurant in the old town run by a famous Polish chef (so I eat told). The interior was fitting perfectly to the look and feel of the old town and felt very homey. I had the rolled pork with beetroot salad. The meat was tender and the filling of gherkins and carrots worked well. Was surprised to find the beetroot salad came warm and pretty much more with the consistency of rough mash. The barely on the side was good, but without any sauce it was a bit dry. The waiting time for the food was also very long (it must have been more than one hour). The waiter was friendly and they accommodate kids well too. read more

If you love Campbell's tomato soup, I strongly recommend this restaurant. No really, the tomato soup at this supposedly high end restaurant tasted like it came from a can at best. The rest of the meal.. trout, horseradish carrots, boiled potatoes etc was uninspired at best. Completely disappointed. read more
