Decent Albuquerque Mex but the service is awful. You can tell it is a tourist town and the servers don't take any pride in their jobs! Way slow, and no drink refills without you tracking down your servers. They forgot to bring tortillas with my dinner. When I asked for them the server rolled her eyes. As we were leaving, we found out they were closed early because they ran out of tortillas. How does a Mexican resturaunt run out of tortillas? We won't be back. read more

Decent Mexican food. I had the beef flautas with sour cream and chile verde sauce, my husband had tortilla soup, one son had a beef taco with fries and the other had a quesadilla (huge!). Not good. My carne asada dinner came cold and not medium as ordered, the tortillas were just store brought, and it was too expensive for what it was. The staff treats you like family, the food is amazing! So good, we went back the next night and brought friends. Chili relleno with rice, great rice, btw, and beans, not re fried, was uniquely prepared and fabulous. Chips and salsa, delicious. Margaritas best I've had in a long while. The service in this town is HORRIBLE ! Tried to get a meal in downtown at 7:50 pm tonight . Walked in to Zapatas , ONE employee acknowledged our existence , while 3 more were just walking around doing NOTHING but chatting like a high school girl click . Then the young man with a broken arm comes up and completely ignores us in order to talk to and attempt to seat the group that came in behind us , now they were a group of 5 and we were a group of 2 and there were several two top tables available and visible . Finally got seated . Took the waitress 20 minutes to get us our ice tea and water . THEN she came back to take our food order . By now it is 8:20 pm . Another group of 3 is seated next to us . They immediately get service , drinks and chips , and their order taken . By now it is 8:30 , and we have watched so called servers walking back and forth by us in little groups of 2-3 not actually DOING anything but chatting with each other . They are not serving food to tables , not clearing tables , not seating people , and not cleaning tables ...just walking around in little groups of 2-3 gossipping with each other . At 8:55 the table that came in behind us gets all of their order ( they were a group of 3 and had multiple items in their order ) , finally asked what the problem was and the server says " oh orders got out of order , yours will be right up " , I say " I have had enough , we will pay for our chips and salsa and drinks and we are DONE " . Get to the register and wait another 5 minutes for a cashier . The cashier tries to CHARGE US for the food we never got , and I said we will pay for the chips and drinks but not for what we never got . She tells us , Oh the server forgot to put the order in but it will be right up . Honestly how hard is 2 tacos and a nacho order ? If it had been busy I coudl have given them some lee way , if they were short staffed I would be more understanding . They were NEITHER . I had the WORST experience at ZAPATAS and will not go back . I would not recommend ANYONE goes there unless you are a tourist , because if you are part of a large group or an obvious tourist you can actually get service ...not if you are a long time local however ! DON'T GO THERE unless you are planning on being treated like garbage and are planning on waiting over an HOUR for food you never get , and watching staff walk around like little high school groups who ignore you unless you are part of their little click group ! Nice setup but not "revolutionary" New Mexican. Pinto beans most likely canned and corn may have been frozen but the cook probably added the chopped jalepeno peppers to make it "Mexican corn." The pepper with egg was okay. read more

Outstanding chile verde! The salsa has some great heat! The rice brought it down from five stars.

Two stars because I kept eating and paid for the meal. The fish taco was a frozen breaded fish strip with some lettuce, tomato, and cheese on a small tortilla--I could make better and usually do. The snow crab enchilada was only slightly better, but obviously frozen ingredients. Like others have said, the salsa is the best part of the meal. Stopped by chance on our way to Yellowstone. So tasty we made a point to stop again on our way home. Recommend the 1880 Chili Releno.

I found the attention to detail's lacking at this restaurant. We were seated to a booth right away by a young lady and found the lighting much to dim to read our menus and resorted to using the flash lights on our smart phones to read them. Our drink order was taken promptly however the waitress forgot our straws and we ended drinking straight out of the glass. Finally after 8 1/2 minutes she returned to take our order and I said,, "you forgot our straws" which she replied "I'm sorry" and promptly took our order and placed two straws down in front of two empty glasses which I found less then humous. We ordered the Fajita special for two and waited. The food came out fairly quick and was dropped off to us,,, with no mention of " is there anything else you wish" the server left so fast I couldn't even get the words out " Yes a couple refills on our drinks would be nice" The main course was tasty but the sides were cold and no where could I find our waitress or any other employer to complain so we ended eating a hot tasty Fajita with cold side dishes and nothing to drink. After we finished a meal our waitress showed up and asked how was everything? I asked her,,, did you go on vacation? Where have you been? She replied I was busy,,, to which I said too busy to pay attention to your customers. If you want,, a tasty Fajita,, no straws,, no drinks,, lousy service and cold sides this should be your restaurant of choice. read more

Food was great, service was great and environment was great.. First time to Cody and my family and I were very hungry and this was a perfect end to our night. The fish tacos rock! They also have a "gringo menu" for the kids who might be too used to their cheeseburger and fries.. My 7 year old daughter took full advantage of this. Good restaurant. So the waitress was good, I had the Carne Asada dish which is a bit over priced for what it was a small portion of meat what ruined the experience was we asked for a separate check and the waitress said we had to separate it at the register .....that's where the problem occurred. The older long grey hard lady that was wearing flip flops (a Culinary no-no ) says "c'mon guys can't you do your own math..I'm swamped here you can't figure this out on your own?!" If she wasn't serious it wouldn't have bothered me but I'm in the industry and that was just flat out rude and unlimited called for! 1. It's your software or lack there of that can't split a ticket and your personal inability to handle a very lack luster busy day (we do over 300 covers in 5 hours) and split a ticket. The salsa was great and the enchiladas were ok, however the service was incredibly unprofessional. The restaurant was almost empty and there were at least 3 servers waiting around talking. We waited awhile to be seated and to have our order taken. Our server was a nice kid, but clothes were dirty and the girl servers were wearing flip flops (which I am sure is a health violation). However, we put in our food orders at the same time and the food arrived faster than expected considering how many people were there. Oh goodness me where do I start. Can I just say that Cody Wyoming needs to step up their food game. After two bad encounters, this being our second, we finally opted for Arby's. We came for lunch to this spot. The waiter was a little all over the place. I asked for recommendations on the menu and he said a couple of things without much concern and then said, everything was great. Usually that is a bad sign, and it was. One of the orders in our group was a cheese enchilada, the cheese wasn't even melted inside the enchilada when it finally arrived at the table. The side order was suppose to be just rice, but it came with rice and beans. I ordered the nachos after asking the waiter if it was good, and he said yes, but it's very big. I ordered the half order. It was quite large. I asked him after refilling our drinks if I stated what type of meat I wanted. He said he thought I said ground beef, nope, he never asked me. I asked for steak. This was probably 30 min after our order and we still haven't gotten our food. He went to check and of course it wasn't even started yet. They added steak, which came out rare. I couldn't even eat it after I was informed it would be an up charge. Our food took FOREVER to come to the table. Super Super slow. We waited easily 45 min and they weren't that busy less than half full. The decor was oh so bad, which I wouldn't have minded if the food was even half decent. read more

We were with 4 persons. The food wasn't really good, but the most annoying was: the waitress. She really didn't try to make you feel comfortable. She clearly wasn't interested in making a conversation, threw the menu's on the table and was kind of rude in her reaction towards us. My first time eating here was wonderful (my mother took me here- she's eaten there a few times with no complaints). I LOVED the salsa. It was thick and hot, but the spicy flavor wasn't overwhelming. I plan on ordering a jar as soon as I am done with my travels- they ship anywhere! I had the snow crab enchilada with sour cream sauce. It was very flavorful and the portion was not too big like some mexican restaurants. We sat outside on a patio and our waitress was very friendly. She answered our questions about the menu and general questions about Cody tourist attractions. Our iced tea glasses were always full. Great service, great food. Love this place! Chips and salsa were amazing, you could tell that they made them fresh. I even bought a jar of salsa for myself. Whenever I go to a Mexican restaurant I always order the spinach enchiladas (I'm a vegetarian) and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality if the food. It tasted great! The spinach was fresh and flavorful, the white sour cream sauce was amazing, the rice and beans were pretty good too. The rice had some small hard bits in it but was seasoned really well and the beans aren't refried which is different but they were delicious. My server was very friendly as was the owner and host, I was very pleased with my dining experience. The smoothie I had (berry) was a bit expensive but it was worth it, very fruity and tasty. I look forward to going back. I would definitely chose this place over the one across the street or any other Mexican place in town. Whoop good enchiladas!!!! read more

I'm explaining to the numerous reviewers of your establishment that are complaining about poor service that it's not isolated to your Restaurant, and why that is. Having cooked in Green Mountain Falls CO (another tourist hot spot) I know the aggravation of having to re-do orders because of inexperienced servers, and the angst of working with 15-17 year old prep people and dishwashers.
