First we had dinner then the rules of whirly ball then we played. Dinner consisted of sub sandwiches, fried apps like those mini tacos, mini eggrolls and mini corn dogs, a salad, hummus, and soup. The soup was the weird thing. It was 94 degrees outside and we got soup. Maybe that was our fault but that was an option and I guess we took it. Food was mid at best. Enough to be full but not very good. The bar was open to us for draft beer and beer in the freezer. I got a blue moon on tap and it was not good. Tasted and smelled fishy. So I gave up drinking it after a few sips. The place is dark. And it was well air conditioned. Lots of big couches and random tables and chairs throughout. They have a lot of video type games and foozball and hockey tables tops. All cost. So bring $1's. Whirly ball was fun. I have to say. Playing with my coworkers was a blast. However. The bumper cars were dirty and smelly. Looked like they hadn't been washed in awhile. The catchers were raggedy and we crushed 1 ball. And it is hot. The air conditioner in the bar is not on the whirly ball court so it gets super hot. And your active so now your hot and sweaty. Then the bumper car is filthy and smelly and not maintained. My seatbelt came out of the seat. That's safe. I am not sure how often they clean and maintenance these bumper cars but it doesn't seem like they do. Gross! The score reflects the fact I had a good time with my co workers but the place itself is kinda dirty and smelly. I guess you have to weigh your fun and good time to disinfecting yourself when you get home.

It's not super big so it does get pretty crowded and congested, I'm not sure what their kid limit is, but it felt like it couldn't hold any more kids when we were there. 1 or 2 hours is probably enough time for the kids, it wasn't real expensive, $15 for her, an extra $5 for each adult. That left us plenty of space and four or five lanes to bowl in. Bowling and shoes seemed to be included with the rental. While it was a nice party, this place does have a couple of quirks. For one, I could not find a weight on any of the balls I tried. Isn't that kind of important information for bowlers? I had to just keep trying until I found one that fit my hand. Another weird thing was that they combined groups of bowlers and moved us across lanes. Like, I was bowling in a group assigned to lane 13, but the system would shuffle us in with lane 14 so sometimes you'd bowl on one side and sometimes on the other. This made it so that sometimes you bowled twice like one turn right after the other, and sometimes you sat and waited for a long time while everyone else cycled through. I really just did not understand the logic there at all; it did not seem to make the game go any faster or anything. Finally, Belmar has that classic bowling lane smell: decades of cigarette smoke seeped into the surroundings. Perfectly fine, nothing outstandingly amazing or horribly awful. A solid 3 stars.

Park Colony Club was closed today due to numerous health and safety violations. A woman was…read morecritically injured last week and is now in intensive care as a result. There is minimal life guard engagement which allows children to dive off a high board while others are in the swim well. They also failed numerous safety criteria. They now have a long-term member in critical care due to code violations. Their staff actually ripped up an incident report, threw it in her son's face and said, after she suffered a broken hip, she was at fault for not "waiting" for them to finish it (which her son and witnesses actually did). This club is dangerous for your entire family, children to seniors, and is currently closed by the city due to their safety violations. I sincerely advise, should you care about your family's safety, you avoid this already closed club which has no spinal board for divers or other ADA compliant standards. This is a sincere note, written in the hopes of avoiding other life-ending or altering safety events. A member, rooted in this club since the 70's, is struggling for her life as a result of their neglect. Finally, an official Red Cross lifeguard and injury attorney witnessed numerous safety violations so this is much more than an angry post. If you love your family, avoid this hazard.

A kid's birthday party, empowering, you say? Certainly. Sem was amazing with the kids. The birthday girl chose 3 circus tricks, the kids practiced, and then they got dressed in costumes, got facepaint, and put on a show for the parents. The kids were proud (so was I was a parent) and I loved how fun and, dare I say it again, empowering the whole experience was. Kids that were too shy or scared at the beginning were all participating at the end. Plus, there is a photographer who posts all of the pictures online for free for parents to download. I love this business!
