I'm a Bar Rescue fan which is why I wanted to stop by. We stopped by on a Wednesday night around 8:00. Zanzibar is quite large and there were not many people there. As others have said beer is fairly cheap. There couldn't have been 25 people in the place which is mainly a pool hall with other games. The bartender was friendly enough. We had a couple pints which were $5.00 a piece. Zanzibar could definitely use a Jon Taffer visit again. It needs some TLC, but for those looking for pool or a cheap beverage option this could be the bar for you. One visit was enough for me. read more

Do not give this place your business. Went out with my friends and the bar back/ food runner was horrible to us. He started screaming at my friend after she politely asked him not to take her full basket of fries that she was actively eating. He was yelling at other customers too. He also took all of our unfinished drinks without asking in a huff. When my friend went to go try and find a manager to talk to about his behavior we were told "this is just how he is sometimes" and that there wasn't a manager or supervisor on duty. He got into a fight with a customer and the customer was kicked out but he was still allowed to stay on the clock. I was genuinely scared to be there so we left because he was walking around angrily and starting arguments with pretty much everyone there. Free pool amongst other games and cheap drinks. What's not to love? Just watch out from drinking too many long island iced teas. The atmosphere almost feels like a dive bar but with added pool tables. It becomes very busy later in the day so don't think you'll always be able to grab a table. We also played some shuffle board which they also have although I'm not sure if the sand was brushed over in a while. I'm happy to come back again when I'm in the area as I'm always down for a game of pool with drinks. read more

Came here on a Friday night. My friend and I were meeting up with a couple of friends so we could all play pool. We didn't wait long to get a table. It's a chill venue located in Larimer St. They offer a variety of games such as pool, pinball, foosball, table hockey, etc. The bartender was super nice and friendly. I ordered an old fashioned drink but they didn't have all the ingredients to make it so I settled for a simple margarita. It was trash, just trash. Mid way through playing a pool game, I was feeling for another drink. I settle for a simple coke and rum. It was decent. Pool tables are FREE so that's a plus. Music was great. I went to this place a month ago because on the website it states in multiple places there is free pool everyday. When we got there the bartender said it's $10 an hour on the weekends. We'd already paid for parking so we decided to stay. Service was abysmal. There seemed to only be two people on shift for a Saturday; a bartender and a bar back/food runner? When we brought up the website saying free pool, the bartender said "management just hasn't updated the website yet", yet there was no manager in sight or mention of getting them involved. We weren't going to make a scene on a busy weekend night so we played our games, paid out, and left. Not having free pool on the weekends was never the issue. The apathy and unhelpfulness of staff just makes this a bar I won't ever go back to. We can find other, better pool houses that actually care about the people coming in. read more

Worst service ever by Kate. She was slow and she didn't even know the most basic drinks. If that wasn't bad enough this weekend our table had to watch her completely ignore us for her friends and make out with her boyfriend who was sitting outside every ten minutes while we were waiting to be served for over 45 minutes. *edit* Again. She has to be the shittiest bartender I've ever had. I tried getting a few drinks on my way home from work at 8:30 and I only managed to get served twice before last call because she was too busy talking to a coke dealer. I knew nothing about this bar when I came here. I had mentioned playing pool and a friend from Denver suggested this bar. We waited a few minutes at the bar for the bartender to acknowledge us. When she finally did and my friend said we wanted to play pool she said ok and turned around, meanwhile two women that had just walked up were given the last set of pool balls next to us. I thought my friend's head was going to explode when the bar tender said oh they just took the last set of pool balls. He found it incredibly rude that the other bartender heard us say we want to play pool and then took the last set of pool balls and gave them to customers that had just walked up (I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and maybe she didn't hear us). He mentioned to the bartender this was kinda rude and she just shrugged her shoulders and said sorry. We didn't order any drinks. We waited about 15 minutes on a Friday night for a pool table to open. The only people in the bar were the ones playing pool. Overall, it was enjoyable enough if you are looking for a place to hang out with friends over a game or two of pool. From reading the yelp reviews it appears the pool is free. So I'm giving them five stars just for that, since you can potentially go there like we did and not drink and play pool. I went there this weekend because I was across the street at Gin Mill with my friends for Halloween - gin mill closed early due to inclement weather so we head across the street.... BIG MISTAKE. The security told us there would be a wait - that's fine. We waited for a bit and finally this security in the photos saw my gay friends costume and said "wtf is that I'm not letting you in" and told us to leave. When we started asking why (since others were being let in) security started MACING US in the face. The word "F@gg0t" was being said not only be security but by a bar goer as we were getting maced. They did nothing and let him stay inside. Not only that but they also reported all the one star reviews on Google and had those all removed and had A TON of ppl to post 5 star reviews. This is disgusting. DO NOT spend your money at this a place. They need to be back on bar rescue and teach their employees (outside contracted or not) how to treat people KINDLY. Oh where to begin. What should I even call you? Zanzibar? Solids and Stripes? Either way there's definitely an identity crisis going on here. My BF and I got invited out to play some pool this past Sunday with some friends and we ended up at Zanzibar. Here's the highlight reel: ++ Tons of pool tables and pool is free with purchase. Awesome! ++ Long Happy Hour (11 am to 7 pm) with some decent specials including $6 long islands and 1/2 price apps. -- Bartender forgot my BF's drink for easily 10 minutes. She remembered it once she came back to see if we needed anything. -- I'm not a fan of the water coolers at either end of the bar. Kinda tacky. -- The women's bathroom was a disaster. I won't go into detail. -- Shuffleboard table looks like it needs some maintenance. -- A lot of the pool cues were missing the tip or bowed pretty bad. Meh. A busy friday night. There was only one bartender taking drink and food orders for the entire place. There were long lines at the bar. She was overwhelmed by drink orders already and refused to take a food order at first but reluctantly did in the end. When the food came to our pool table, they were sort of disgusting. It's guilty pleasure bar food so I didn't expect gourmet food but they were way below average bar food quality. I would never order food there again. This place is pretty cool. If I remember correctly there's 8 pool tables and a mish mash of other games. Drinks are good, I recommend the Long Island. It's a perfect mix. I recommend coming here earlier in the night as you will be waiting forever for a table. I was super pumped as I watch the Bar Rescue show so this was cool to visit. We came in on a Friday afternoon so it was not too packed as people were working. It's located in a hip area and we were looking to play some pool. The bartender was extremely welcoming and we were delighted to find that the pool was free so we played several games. They also have a 4 person air hockey table that we took advantage of for a bit. We noticed that it had several televisions as we walked in to find a majority of the patrons sitting at the bar watching sports. A cool spot to hang with friends whether you like to play pool or not. My pals and I came here on a Saturday night and the place was busy till 2am. There are plenty of pool tables. You have to go up to the bar to get change to claim a table - easy enough process. The night we came in the music was great and I found myself dancing and singing along to all the tunes. They also have a full bar. I found that the drinks here were cheaper than some other places on Larimer. The staff were pretty rude when we were getting coins for the table and when we were ordering drinks. We were there till closing and they were very rude with telling us to leave as well. I get that it was late and that they probably were there all night, but we weren't doing anything wrong and they were just flat out rude. Pool tables are okay but the music almost put us all to sleep and it was pretty dirty. Drinks were ok, kind of weak and expensive.

So I went to Zanzibar with a couple of co-workers for our Snow Day Happy Hour. They had $2.50 domestics and half-price FRIED appetizers. They also had specials on well drinks, I think $5 for a double. Also, free pool if you were drinking, which we were. The bartender Sarah was the star of the show that day. Not only was she really, really attractive (the guys were so happy) but she was really nice. My co-worker took my purse into the bathroom (so as not to leave it at an empty table) and unbeknownst to either of us, dropped my wallet in there. 15 minutes later we see the bartender walking up to us with my wallet in her hands, she handed it back to me and said she found it and recognized me from the picture.
