We sat on the main floor in the middle, overlooking the lower downtown streets below. The vibe was casual and cheerful. We sat at a table near the bar. The bartender initially provided menus and took our drink order. After that, we had to approach the bar to order food and get our check. It wasn't crowded enough to let them off the hook for this, so I provided feedback to the manager on duty, on our way out. He provided us with some cards for complimentary draft beers. read more

Great location being right across the street from Union Station and a few streets down from coors field where the Rockies play. The service and food were excellent as well, they do a great job with their pizza, the outdoor seating area is a nice place to sit on a warm spring day. My only gripe was the beer, I hate to say it but my 4 beer flight was below average. I tried their Lager, New England ipa, Red Ale & something else and sadly they all felt kind of flat or bland. I always have a pretty good time at Wynkoop. It's one of my favorite places to go with a group of friends because there's more to do than just sit at a table. The venue is huge and I've been to several events here for that reason, they have rentable areas. And check out the Happy Hour specials. On weekends it's a zoo! You may not get a chance to play pool or anything else as they have no time limits. I also was rather disgusted that the dude who's in control of the pool waiting list was on the take and expecting me to give him money to move up the list -- gross. The billiards are all upstairs! The testicle beer is actually pretty good, come on give it a try! :) Also, pro tip -- these are the best fried pickles I've had in Denver! They're spears (better than coins which can be paper thin and mostly breading), the breading stays on, and they come with a spicy ranch dipping sauce. Came here for an outing with our teachers' group and it was okay. We had a mini buffet of brisket, pulled pork, green beans, and Mac and cheese, and macaroni salad. I was kind of hoping for a real salad and that there would be some sort of dessert but there wasn't. We were offered one drink from the bar and since I'm not into beer or ales I got a Malibu bay breeze instead. The servers were quick at getting people in our groups drinks and clearing plates. This place is HUGE. It has multiple floors with seating, bars, and pool tables available. We were seated by the windows on the main floor for a group of three. They offer pretty standard food for a pub, appetizers, burgers and sandwiches, salads, soups, pizza, and some more substantial meals like shepherd's pie, salmon, pork chops, fish tacos, and a few other dishes. I opted for the Chicken and Bacon Salad ($16.50) and a cup of Wynkoop beer cheese soup ($7). The portion sizes are pretty generous, especially with the soup. The cup portion was much bigger than I thought, and I'm so glad I didn't order the bowl of soup. The salad was fresh and it had a good amount of toppings. The soup was very rich and filling. Next time I would probably share. Our server was nice, attentive, and made sure our drinks were filled. The bathrooms are upstairs (I had to ask after wondering the wrong way). We stopped in for a beer after a Rockies game and the service at the bar was horrendous. The bartender was more interested in hitting on a bunch of cougars than in doing his job. There were only 10-15 people sitting at the bar and we waited at least 15-20 minutes for someone to come get our order. The classic beers here are solid and definitely worth trying (get a flight of them!). I also ordered a flight of their winter seasonals, and honestly, that one didn't hit for me. I went there on a Saturday night the night of the broncos vs. bills football game at 630pm. The place was packed as they have TVs for watching sports games. There was a wait for a table. I checked in with the host and was told there was going to be a 15-20 minute wait. We arrived shortly after the game was over so luckily people were leaving. The bar seating was full. The atmosphere was loud and lively. They have multiple TVs around the bar and in the standard dining area. We were seated fairly quickly with the 15-20 minute window. I ordered the Wynkoop bison burger. I was visiting Denver and heard about the different meats Denver has for burgers such as elk and deer so I decided to try something different than the normal beef patty and ordered the bison burger. The Wynkoop burger has a natural colorado bison patty, smoked gouda, pickled onions, green chili mayo, and arugula all on a brioche bun. The burger had a sweet taste to it due to the brioche bun. I asked for it medium well and it wasn't pink and wasn't overcooked. Some places when you ask for medium well the patty ends up being burnt and tough which I don't like. The patty was tender. The combination of flavors was good. It had green chill mayo on the bun. Denver is known for green chili and I wanted to try some green chile dishes. It was tasty. There were options for the sides for coleslaw or fries. I opted to sub for a salad instead for an extra $2. Our group also ordered the green chili fries and it was a big portion. The fries were smothered with white queso, pork green chili, cotija, lime crema, and cilantro. The green chile queso addition was interesting as there were chunks of green chile and tomatoes pieces that added a bit of acidity to the fries but with the queso it was delicious! The service was good and the waiter checked in with us multiple times. Overall, I would recommend this place for the burgers. The food was good and it was comfort American food. If you like sports this place is great to watch sports with friends and is good for groups which is an added plus! read more

We stopped in for a beer on the recommendation of our tour guide from the previous day, and he definitely didn't steer us wrong! I loved the decor, particularly the tin ceiling. Had a funny experience where one of the servers on the steps stumbled and the next thing I knew it was raining French fries. No harm done. The fried pickles were the best I've ever had, which is why I was a little sad that the batter was not nearly as tasty on the fish and chips (which I ordered bc Francis told me they won an award. My companion had a flight of very dark beers (although they list a preselected flight, you can also craft your own) and a burger of some sort. It's a beautiful day in Denver, with lots of people sitting outside, enjoying the nice temperature. My husband and I chose to sit inside at the bar and that was a great decision. Our server has been amazing. I told her I wasn't feeling great, and she brought me a complementary Gingerale with bitters in it- definitely has helped me feel better. That was a nice perk that she did for me! We started with the soft pretzel, and it's probably one of the best, fresh, hot pretzels I've had in a while. It came with a nice portion of beer cheese and yellow mustard. We couldn't finish it because it was a huge portion, but I really wanted to because it was so delicious! My husband had the classic burger with a side of the loaded, baked potato soup- which he really enjoyed. I had the pizza with thyme ricotta and mushroom. I loved my pizza as well. Evidently, the pizzas are new on the menu and they've been trying out different dough recipes, and the one they have right now is really tasty. We were in search of a spot to hang and lunch at before heading to the airport and thankfully a family friend recommended Wynkoop Brewing. I scoped out their website and found this well-written description of the brewery and restaurant: "Wynkoop is Colorado's First Brewpub, home to tastemakers and rulebreakers, bushwhackers and envelope pushers. For almost three decades we've been brewing handcrafted beer in our modest basement brewery underneath Denver's largest pool hall." For a brewpub, this place is massive! We started on the first floor by sharing a large pretzel as a group. I also ordered the Shepherd's Pie which is the perfect comfort food for a cold day out. I washed it all down with a quality craft beer flight. I don't recall our server's name but he was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. After our meal, we ventured upstairs to shoot some pool. The second floor is equally as spacious and besides plenty of billiards tables, they also offer darts and shuffleboard. Mid floor is tables and a bar. Top floor was where we hung out. Tons of pool tables. Free until 4pm too! Drinks were reasonably priced. The bartender we had was super nice. Recommended some beers. For bar food it wasn't bad. I got the shrimp taco. My fiancé got the hummus plate and chips and guac. All were yummy. For it being happy hour I'd say it was a good deal.
