Fresh Shrimp Spring Rolls
Jennifer N.

My fiance and I are foodies and decided to check out Zander's on our designated "date night". We try to pick a different place every week. I am Vietnamese so of course, I will be slightly picky. Appetizers: We ordered the Fresh Spring Rolls with Shrimp which are always (at every Viet restaurant I've been to) are skimpy. It was tasty. I didn't really care for the "crunchy" that they added inside (which isn't traditional) and they could have offered more meat inside like the traditional pork and shrimp. Most places have been known to cut one shrimp in half and make it look like it's two. The Beef Carpaccio was excellent!! The herbs, spices, and beef were prepared to perfection. I've had the "rare" beef version before and this one was actually slightly seared. We used the reserved sauce with our dinner. Dinner: The entrees we had were the Spicy Basil Beef, Salt and Pepper Calamari, and Mixed Greens. The calamari had a nice crisp and flavor to it. Spicy Basil Beef could have used a little more basil but it was still good. Mixed greens were my fave!!! It had bok choy, brocolli, peppers, and snap peas. Everything we ordered tasted great. The Jack Daniels on the rocks wasn't skimpy either, lol. Next time, we'll sit at the family-style table and have them bring us whatever that's off the menu-- off-the-menu items are always great! The only grip I would have is that they didn't offer Pho, Banh Xeo, or some other traditional Vietnamese dishes and the prices are a "tad" expensive. However, the serving sizes of the entrees were plentiful. For two appetizers, 3 entrees, green tea, and one Jack on the rocks, our tab was about $82 and that includes tip.

The ballroom is absolutely huge, full of light with nice tall ceilings (sound can echo a bit as a result). There are breakout rooms, making the space flexible for a variety of uses. I'm not sure who catered the event we went to but it was absolutely delicious! I've driven past this venue for years (decades actually) and am glad I've finally had a chance to go inside!

They've got the most gorgeous patio out back and the banquet hall is extremely large and can easily fit a decent sized dance floor. I highly recommend this place. The place is already decorated - so unless you absolutely hate the way it's done, it's another hassle you can cross off your list. There is a beautiful hallway right outside that's just perfect for taking pictures of your guests as they come in. They're pretty much all-inclusive. However, for our event we opted to cater from another location, but we took the rest of their offers. Since they frequently do weddings, they have a set up Brides' and Grooms' room in the back. It's a perfect spot for hosts to stash their valuables, change of clothes/shoes, and any other miscellaneous things you'd like. Highly recommend coming here. My only recommendation - make sure you get a couple of great photographers. Your event will be absolutely stunning and I assure you that you'll be really upset if all the photos you have are selfies from your cell phone or ones that your guests take. My only regret of coming here is that I wish I had more and better pictures of the event. All our guests could not stop raving about this place! All in all, this place was a bit pricey, but it is definitely worth the price in MHO.

When the power went out, there were guests who were stuck in the elevator... For 90 minutes! The Dallas Fire Department had to come and extricate people from all 4 elevators. Some people were forced to climb up 7 flights of stairs to get to our floor. Other guests ended up leaving the wedding altogether because we just never knew WHEN the lights and power were going to come back on. There was no back up generator or power source that the building could draw from. We were not able to start the wedding reception until AFTER 10pm! There was a quinceañera on another floor, and a 70th birthday party being held on a different floor. Everyone had NO POWER! (To be fair, when my mother came to check out this venue the week before the wedding, she said she had to take the stairs down, b/c the power went out then too - in the middle of the day!!!!) So for over 1 hour, our vendors were not able to serve our 400 wedding guests! I lost an hour of service from every single vendor - which ended up totaling over $12,000 lost. When I contacted the owners of the venue, they refused to take any accountability, saying they were not at fault. They refused to refund us even a fraction of the amount that we were owed. They refused that they owed us anything at all! We spent months trying to work out an agreement / negotiate compensation with the owner, to no avail. Nothing. Not even a dime. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU CHOOSE ANY OTHER VENUE FOR YOUR EVENT! IT'S NOT WORTH WASTING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY... SPEND A LITTLE EXTRA AND BOOK YOURSELF A DECENT VENUE. I would give this place 0/5 stars if I could. I highly do NOT recommend.

From the very beginning, Luis Luna, the venue manager, was incredibly attentive, professional, and kind. Leading up to the event, he was always available to answer questions, offer guidance, and make sure every detail was covered. The entire planning process felt so much less stressful because of his support. The night of the event, Luis went above and beyond. He was present, attentive, and made sure everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Any time we needed something, he and his staff were right there, ready to help without hesitation. His team was just as amazing--friendly, welcoming, and truly made us and all of our guests feel comfortable and taken care of. You can tell they genuinely care about the experience they provide, and it shows in every detail. This celebration would not have been the same without their kindness, professionalism, and willingness to step in whenever needed. We are beyond grateful and would 1000% recommend Slate Venue at II Creek to anyone looking for a beautiful venue with an incredible team behind it.

Nice spot for a birthday party!…read more Looks like this venue can accommodate weddings, birthdays, bar mitzvahs, or any type celebration of your choosing! Ample parking even with potholes to deal with. I think the owners of the rental units are responsible for paving the property. Some serious repaving is desperately needed. There are many other wonderful units located within this particular area. Cigars, wines, Chinese food, and other wonderful spots! Well worth making a visit! However, this review is about this venue. I'll be back to visit the other spots because of their uniqueness! The decorations were wonderful! I think they were provided by the persons that booked the unit. They also had servers for food. However, I think that too was booked via the people that rented the venue. The napkins, which were cloth, were dirty and limp. Ugh! Those need to be replaced. Those were quite objectionably dirty! Same with the white table cloths. (Fake)flower arrangements were nice. They matched the decor for this setting. Chairs need serious updating/replacement or a good scrubbing. Bathrooms were clean and the toilets flushed. Lack of toilet paper was limited. As was hot water and soap. I was a guest. Would I rent here? Yes I would, if the price was right. The party I attended was fabulous! The party was flawless and they went way above and beyond for this party! February 2025

This place is a legitimate piece of American pop culture history, and they do a great job bringing it to life. The guided tour takes you inside the actual ranch house, and it's more immersive than you'd think. The formal dining room with its crystal chandeliers, the bold red kitchen, the grand foyer staircase -- it's all right there, frozen in time like the Ewing family just stepped out for a moment. And yes, they have the room where JR was shot, complete with a chalk outline and crime scene markers. Campy? A little. Fun? Absolutely. Outside, the grounds are beautiful. White fences, open pastures, friendly animals wandering around with the iconic ranch house as the backdrop. There's also JR's silver Lincoln Continental on display in the museum, along with memorabilia and history from the show. Fair warning: this is a deeply generational experience. My older colleagues were absolutely in their element while some of the younger folks in our group needed a little context. But even without being a die-hard Dallas fan, there's enough to see and appreciate that everyone ended up having a good time. Great group outing, unique Dallas experience. Growing up in Europe, we watched the show later than audiences in the U.S., but I never missed an episode and absolutely loved following the Ewings' story. So when I had the chance to travel through Texas, visiting Southfork was at the top of my list. The visit exceeded my expectations. The ranch is perfectly set up for visitors - from the guided tour of the house, which is preserved and decorated exactly like it appeared in the show, to all the little details, including the cars the Ewing family used. Our guide gave a fascinating talk about the history of filming, the ranch's rental process, and behind-the-scenes stories that really brought the show to life. We also got to walk around the ranch, see the small horses or ponies, and browse a tiny gift shop. It was amazing to experience in person something I'd watched on TV for so many years - and on the other side of the continent, no less! The whole experience was nostalgic, charming, and genuinely fun. If you love Dallas or just want to see an iconic TV ranch in real life, Southfork is absolutely worth the visit.
