Had a work event here and it was a great venue - lots of beautiful views of the property and farm animals. A game I enjoyed was the inflatable ax throwing!

Southfork Ranch offers a neat experience for both Dallas fans and non-fans alike. While the tour is fairly short, the staff are extremely hospitable and make sure you are equipped with everything you might need to take in all the information (including informational pages in several languages, including German). This made the tour even more inclusive for all the people that apparently travel from out of the country to check this out--it's a great touch! The staff also clarify that all interior shots were shot elsewhere, while external shots were filmed at the ranch. However, the interior has been decorated as if the Ewings actually lived there. There are plenty of trinkets and memorabilia scattered across the house and museum to enjoy. One small bit of feedback I'd like to offer is communicating holiday hours/schedule changes on the website in a pop-up window upon accessing the website. We attempted to visit the Saturday before Mother's Day and while the location was indeed open as stated online and on Google maps, the tours only ran until about 11 AM due to a private event. If we had not thought to check the Instagram page (something that not everyone has access to), we would have arrived at a closed ranch, which wouldn't have been a great first impression. So again, there was some communication about the change of schedule, but not in a way that's the most accessible to everyone.

I've been waiting for this visit to Southfork Ranch for so many decades. This long overdue visit was magnificent. They're going through some significant changes to make this property so much better. The museum was glorious. If you're a huge tv show Dallas fan, then you'll appreciate the displays and nostalgia of this historic place. I saw Jock Ewing's Lincoln Continental, the actual red Mercedes Benz that belonged to Bobby Ewing, artifacts, scripts, etc. The museum shop is under construction, for the time being. The actual home had the Dallas theme song playing over and over inside the home. The tour itself was done with taste and grandeur. I really enjoyed seeing this attraction, today! Bucket-list worthy! They still need to make improvements, but the huge property is coming along together, slowly. The customer service team is fabulous! It's a 30-45 minute drive outside of Dallas, but it was worth it! Seeing it once, I certainly wasn't disappointed. Highly recommended! Go see this for yourself! Cheers and enjoy!

Nice mini self guided Museum with 3 rooms. Who knew there was a reboot of the show?

Excellent! Rented a car and drove here on our own. Not crowded during Easter week on weekday. I came here because this was where the primetime Dallas soap opera was filmed for CBS from 1978 until 1991. Larry Hagman, who played the villainous oil baron J.R. Ewing was the character you loved to hate and yes, this was the same guy that was on "I Dreamed of Jeannie." He's a versatile actor can play both good and bad person and it's believ When you enter, there's gift store to buy tickets for the tour, restrooms and in back selfie time with the cutouts of the characters from the show. Don't miss that and grab a hat to match the characters. lol . The self guided Musuem is short 3 rooms and at end outside you will wait for the John Deer tractor to pull your cart to the main house for guided tour of the house and pool. Afterwards you can stay as long on property to take photos and explore. Be sure to check out everything and open doors as you will find you can enter the cottage inside. Or open the door to in the events hall to find the car. There's few animals on ranch like miniature horses, llamas and longhorn steer. The Longhorn steer is huge up close and scary! This is the closest I will probably get to one. As I will be heading to the Fort Worth Stockyards to see his cattle folk walk down the street twice a day. But at least these Longhorn live on a nice ranch. I doubt the ones in Fort Worth has such nice accommodations as here. Not much scenery here just the road outside and grass. The land is flat in Texas. I saw some cattle grazing across the road. The house itself, the outside was just for filming only as the tour guide explained during the summer only. The poor family had to sell their ranch home because an announcer on tv actually gave out their address in Parker, Texas! I wonder if that person got fired for that! About 40 acres is the area made famous in Dallas, including the Southfork Mansion conference and event center. The rest is open green space. I enjoy my time here and took my time walking around the ranch to see the animals. Then little barns scattered and buildings with a car in and event space and saw the small graveyard RIP like JR lies at rest. Fans of the show should come here and as it was a fun show.

I have a friend visiting who wanted to visit the site of the show "Dallas" and I couldn't say no! When you've lived in Dallas all your life, you forget about so many places that when a visitor reminds you of all the wonderful places Dallas has to offer - it is nice. We drove over on a Saturday afternoon in August, so it was HOT. The site has lots of shade trees and most of your time is spent inside. You can park right outside the gift shop (if they're not too busy, you can park in front, only a few steps away). When you enter the gift shop it is very spacious, not crowded with things, but several options to take home. My friend bought a Tshirt. We saw a man buying a cowboy hat, as well. So much to see! You purchase your tickets right inside the gift shop and they let you know exactly when the next tour leaves. He told us it would be 5 minutes so we rushed thru the museum, only to stand in line at the door at the end, so if you have 5 minutes - take it and enjoy the museum on your way to the back for the tour. Lots to see on the walls along the way. We all loaded onto a tram to take us over to the house. We were seated in a large room and given the history of the land - which, being a local, I was surprised to know it had changed hands so many times! The show was on during a time in my life when I didn't watch much tv at all, so I was barely familiar with the cast (with the exception of Patrick Duffy, whom I had met downtown one time during filming there, and of course Larry Hagman). But still, it brought back memories of another time, and it was fun to hear the other people in the group talking about their experiences with the show. There was a good group with us, and most seemed from another country. The speaker who addressed us in the beginning with the history asked if anyone needed translation before she began. Three people needed French translation so she handed them some papers so they could follow along in their language. We finished the tour and were on our own to walk back to the gift shop. We stopped to look at the cars they drove and beyond that in another room was a big screen playing the 2012 remake. It looked like a good show from the few minutes I saw of it. Tickets for my friend and I were $30 each but she said we get a discount, I'm not sure how much because she treated! But it's because we're over 60, I believe. Hey, I don't mind :) Great tour, enjoyed it all and the speaker was friendly and stayed with us as we all went every which way. She engaged with us and smiled a lot. Go check it out!

We had a great time out here! My husband has wanted to get out here since we arrived in Dallas!! Luckily, we booked a horseback ride today as they told us that at the end of the week they were closing down. The actual home used on the Dallas series remains a historic site but the land around it has been sold to a developer for future $2 million plus homes....thank goodness we got out here when we did.

We had an event here and we love Brooke. She handled everything for us. Food was good, they served beef and chicken fajitas. the venue room we selected had the cadillac and JR cut out for photo ops. We were able to set up a bar, there was a room for the band, there was also line dancing.

We visited the ranch while in Dallas. My understanding was you could take a tour or just walk around on your own. I wasn't aware that the tours are hourly on the hour and the self-guided is the same cost as a tour, however, you can't enter the house. Seemed really odd and disappointing.

Just a shout out to Southwest Airlines and Southfork ranch for putting on an amazing chili fest for employees of the airlines and their families. It was such a wonderful family day and the facility couldn't have been more perfect. Plenty of help, security directing traffic and smiles everywhere. Super clean grounds and indoor facilities. Thanks to both again. We even saw J R.

What a total disappointment. The "tour" is more like an attempt to capitalize on the people who once enjoyed Dallas. My sister was visiting and she wanted to go so I agreed. Driving up to the property was more exciting than reaching it and seeing how run down it is and so very small. We paid the entry fee, went through the "museum" which housed memorabilia and photos of the hit series. We then got on a tram pulled by a John Deere tractor to the main house where the series was "filmed." We had an almost 20 minute history lesson on the property, series, and whatever else was interesting. Then we were told to walk the property at our leisure, sans map or information on the property. The home was much smaller than expected, the property was set up more for revenue generating opportunities, which is fine, but having a cafe or something for people to enjoy a snack or drink would be nice. I would not recommend this to anyone unless they are mega Dallas fans and want to experience ranch living 40 years later.

We initially went to the Southfork ranch to check out their "Trade Days", which happens the weekend preceding the 4th Monday of every month. Parking is $5 cash There were lots of different local vendors (e.g., handmade bags, soaps, candles, baked goods, and vintage kitchenware) as well as some vendors that sold items auctioned off of Amazon return pallets. The trade days were alright, nothing exciting, or spectacular. While we were at the Southfork ranch, we decided to tour the mansion to where the famous "Dallas" tv show was filed in the 70s-00s! Cannot believe that show lasted 14 + seasons! If you go to the trade days, you get $5 off of admissions to the mansion tour. Since there were over 20 of us in the group, the tour guide gave a very detailed history in the sitting room (due to the group size) inside the mansion. Afterwards, you are free to roam the mansion. The TV show didn't actually film inside this mansion, but it was nice to see the exterior of the house where the show was filmed! Needless to say, I went home to go watch the show ;)

    The main house.

We booked an hour long trail ride here while visiting Texas for our anniversary. It is a beautiful property with a cool and unique history. The horses all appeared to be healthy and well cared for. Our guide, Karen, was very friendly and the horses, Echo and Denny, were really sweet. While the trail ride started and ended promptly on time I wish it would've been a little longer and would've been more of a trail ride rather than a large circle of the property (routed past the overflowing dumpsters). Karen stopped and took everyone's pictures by the famous main house which was nice and she took her time answering questions and letting us hang out with the horses after the ride was over. Over all it was a great experience just slightly underwhelming in the "trail ride" aspect. We would probably ride here again if they had a longer or different route.

It has been almost 13 years since I have been to South Fork Ranch and now since I live here, I can come here anytime I want. Tour costs $16 dollars now so a $6 dollar increase since the last time I went. The gift shop is now where you purchase your tickets for the tour instead of where Jock's car is located. The tour times goes by every hour on the :15th minute. Once you buy the ticket you can go inside the mini Dallas museum which takes 10 minute look around, but I sat in there and watch the Dallas clips. They have a tram that will drive you and they do a little drive by of the ranch and give you the history. There are many parts I do not recall. They also added in the new Dallas as part of the tour and giving facts. They drive you to the Ewing Mansion and outside looks the same as it does on the TV and the balcony is much bigger than on TV and the house seems bigger too, but it is really smaller than on TV. What you really pay is to tour inside of the house which is nothing to jump up and down. They now have the room where JR got shot and still a little messy. They have Lucy and Bobby Ewing room of what they would imagine and the living room is Jock Ewing's room and upstairs is a huge bathroom with a shower, a tube and 2 bathrooms and a bedroom. It is nothing too much to jump up and down. I saw the kitchen and still looks the same as I remember it outdated, but it is for the tour guests. The tour itself takes around an hour to do and then they let you go explore the ranch and you can literally go anywhere. I definitely did do some exploring as I was able to get to one of the Pokemon gyms. I saw all of the horses, longhorns and donkeys up close it was really cool. I think I spent a good 45 minutes walking around, but it was pretty hot that day. You can see Elena's cottage where she stayed at, but the door was closed so I could not look inside. I was scared to fully open the door and take a look. Overall, it was a good couple of hours of wasted time. I wish the gift store sold more Dallas merchandise.

They lied about the horse I bought from them - they said they got him from a cowboy down on his luck, but he actually was an auction horse. They told me he could go all day, and he went lame 6 weeks after I bought him, costing me THOUSANDS of dollars in specialist vet fees. Counting the price of the horse, I lost over$10,000 with my purchase. And then there was the boarding... I boarded my horse there for a couple months after I bought him, and his care was abysmal. There were so many flies that he got infections in both of his eyes from the flies laying eggs in them (according to my vet). They told me they'd administer his meds, but they didn't. My horse colicked from heat and dehydration (according to my vet) - there was NO clean water in the pasture. The pasture was a bunch of weeds with rusty old farm equipment where the horses could easily access. It flooded any time we had a heavy rain. The stalls were often dirty, and the barn often smelled of urine. There were so many rats in the barn; you could see them both day and night - even in my horse's hay bin. I could go on and on. The Pyrenes dog they had running lose all the time bit me and other people, and they never did anything about it. All of this for over $1000 a month in board fees. It was my first trip to downtown Plano which is a nice quaint strip of bars, restaurants, and shops that reminded me of any of the small one/two stop light towns around my home of NC, even though you're really surrounded by metro Dallas highways and city. The atmosphere, the food, the service, was perfection. I'll do my best to describe, but if I was creating a restaurant, I'd tell you to go here, and that is what I want. The restaurant itself is very nice, certainly upscale enough for a super nice date night, but also casual enough at lunch time for a business casual outfit. The area itself is relatively small and intimate, I'm going to guess 10 or less tables, and a spot for a few people at a small bar. Right beside the bar is the grill where you can see, hear, and smell the food being cooked! The owner was our waiter, and just like the rest, service was plenty formal yet also laid back. He did everything how you'd expect in a fine dining restaurant, but also was comfortable in a baseball cap and laid back fine with having a conversation. He was happy to tell us about the restaurant itself, the interior which he built out himself, and was enthusiastic about what he was serving and told us everything about the meat and sides. It was great seeing someone so proud and excited to tell his costumers about every aspect of it. He alone would make me want to be a regular visitor. But then there is the food! Perfection! All four of us ordered the Wagyu NY Strip, so he just told us he would serve it on a board with plenty of sides to fill us up. We didn't even have to tell him how we wanted the steak cooked, he said everything was cooked to 135 and it came out absolutely perfectly! Quality tasty meat, true wood flavor, it was what I normally have to cook myself at home to get! The sides were great as well, charred broccoli (which I'm a sucker for, marbles potatoes, fries, all wonderful! The menu is not huge, but I think that's perfect. Do what you do well and you don't need a multi page menu full of random dishes. BAR-Ranch knows what they are and they excel at it! It's not cheap, but personally I'd rather have one meal of exceptional quality over multiple cheaper meals that leave me feeling "meh that was fine". Personally I'll be back and can't wait for another opportunity to try it!
