Part of the exhibit

The Collin County History Museum is a unique display of buildings and businesses that were in existence years ago with the technology showing, via ipads, what they look like today. It's open Thursday, Friday & Saturday and the staff is pleasant and informative.

What a treat and only for $12! The discover center had a lot…read moreof offerings but we made the trek to see the nation's only video game museum. They have nearly every console and you can play almost all of them or at least something from each era. The giant pong game is an absolute must for geeks of all ages. I could spent another couple of hours in there if the lil one would have been willing. Your admission includes 4 tokes and you can play some classics and little known arcade games. This is not anything compared to Pinballz or Game Preserve, but it is a fun addition and we enjoyed it.

At the end of the museum is a retro arcade. You get four tokens with your ticket upon entry, but you could always buy more. There is private party room as well. There was a birthday party when we attended and the kids were having a blast playing in the arcade. I wish the location was attached to a skating rink or something else retro but physical to make an afternoon of it. Parking is easy, it's next to the library so no charge to park and all access is flat. Overall it's a good visit but will only occupy 1-2 hours.

This is a collection of homes and other buildings (stores, church, etc) paying tribute to McKinney's past. Some are outfitted with actual artifacts from the original occupants, while others are displayed with like items from the period of McKinney's history. It was fascinating to walk through them and visualize what life must have been like. My hat is off to the city and to all the great people who make this treasure possible!

It's exploded and one of the good things that's come with that, Historical preservation. I've driven past this area for decades. Today I turned off the main road to check out some construction. Sitting right in front of me,the oldest house in McKinney! This little area of town has preserved several homes that go back to the beginning. I can't wait to return when I can access the inside of these great places that have been restored to time accurate living models. The grounds are always open,so you can stroll around imagining what it was like living in the area 100 years ago .
